Answer
I don't see or understand how some people feel that Chris Paul was robbed. People have to remember what the MVP award really stands for. The MVP award is ( or should be awarded to ) the best, most talented, overall skilled player and the success in which he had given his situation throughout the season. In this case Kobe Bryant was undoubtedly the Most Valuable Player in the 2007-2008 regular season. Kobe is the best overall talent: defense, leadership, maturity, shot selection, poise, offense, basketball IQ, tenacity,etc...most important: HEART. Don't jump onto this band wagon that the sports media has created, saying that the MVP is the player who makes everyone else on his team better, because this wasn't the case since the first award was given to Bob Petit, in the 1955-1956 season through the 2003-2004 season when Kevin Garnett won it ( the last true MVP since Kobe won it today). That is why Michael Jordan won the award five times and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won it six times. This man ( Kobe Bryant ) lead his team to the best record in the tough, tough Western Conference ( arguably the toughest conference in NBA history ), not to mention statement beat downs of the Hornets and Spurs late in the season. The man did this with five major injuries to his teammates [ Andrew Bynum, Trevor Ariza, Luke Walton ( arguable the second best player on the Laker team last season ), Cris Mihm, and Pau Gasol ]. Pau played 27 games with the Lakers this season, so don't make the case that Kobe had better players around him. Also take into consideration that Kobe played a huge role in fitting in Pau into the Laker team. Don't get me wrong, I really do admire the way CP3 plays the game of basketball, it's really inspiring. He is listed at 6ft and to have the success that he has had in his young career is just amazing. I;m not dissing Paul at all, I'm just saying that I'm am so glad that the MVP is back in the hands of a worthy and true MVP, because the last three were not true MVP material. Amazing players are, Steve Nash and Dirk Nowitzki, but not MVP material. Chris Paul will be true material in due time. A much better player than both Nash and Nowitzki.

Is it fare to compare Kobe Bryant seasons without Shaq to Michael Jordan seasons without Pippen?
Q. Could I get a HELL NO! Kobe jocking MJ haters tries their best to excuse Kobe's FAILURE without Shaq by bringing up MJ's seasons without Pippen. But they always FAIL to bring up the REALITY in it! Check this out:
Michael Jordan without Pippen v.s. Kobe Bryant without Shaq:
Kobe Bryant:
When Shaq left in the summer of 2004 Kobe was an 8 year VET: He's played 8 seasons to learn from NBA Legends (Shaq, Byron Scott, & etc.), he's had been learning from Phil Jackson for 5 seasons, he's had PLENTY of NBA Finals experience, & he is well in his PRIME.
Michael Jordan:
1985 MJ was a ROOKIE coming from college EARLY (but still made the play-offs)
1986 MJ only played 18 games (not even close to a full-season)
1987 MJ is actually a 2nd year rookie (his 2nd full season but still made the play-offs)
2001-02 MJ was 38-39 years old, washed up, & missed 22 games. (but still were setting scoring records)
2002-03 MJ was 39-40 years old & washed up even more.
To Be Continued:
Anyways, when you are comparing MJ without Pippen to Kobe without Shaq, you are comparing a 1st & 2nd year rookie that left college early, that didn't have a great coach, that was still learning the game of NBA Basketball to a 9, 10, 11 year vet with that played 8 seasons playing & learning with vets, 5 seasons leanring from a great coach, has had major NBA Finals experiance, & well in his PRIME. MJ without Pippen was very young still developing & very old way pasted his prime, Kobe is in his prime & has had plenty experience.
Now is that a FAIR to COMPARE?
NO!
KOBE BRYANT SUCKS!
MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE GREATEST!
lil balla,
you're a bigger IDIOT then I thought! You are really going to compare a NBA vet that's in his prime to a 1st , 2nd year rookie & a 38-40 year OLD man!....lmao! You Kobe jockers are PATHETIC!
KOBE BRYANT SUCKS!
sammy 55,
that was an HONEST mistake! As you can see that I spelled it right in my debate. That was a typo era.
Alpha Wuss,
there you are LYING again! Kobe without Shaq is ages 26-29 with 8 NBA seasons under his belt & MJ without Pippen is 21-24 with NO NBA seasons under his belt. What a MORON you are? Would you compare Kobe to Durant or Kobe to Magic in 1996? Only a IDIOT would think that's fair!
ALPHA WOLF IS AN IDOT!
Alpha Wuss,
look who Kobe & Magic had (Shaq & Kareem)? ......Lol. No wonder they won NBA Titles early! What dominate center Jordan had at 21-24?
ALPHA WUSS IS AN IDIOT!
Jordan at 19 was winning a TITLE at NC
Kobe at 19 was RIDING the bench!
KOBE BRYANT SUCKS!

Jordan has a keen sense of putting the ball in the hoop by any means necessary as well as making the highly improbable look easy. It should be noted that Jordan played in the best defensive era in NBA history, which is largely due to the lack of sensitivity when calling fouls.
In respect to Bryant he has accomplished feats Jordan never did. The first is the 81-point performance Bryant made in a single game. Jordan's closest game to that only left him with 69 points. The other remarkable achievement occurred when Bryant scored at least 50 points in four straight games. Throughout Jordan's illustrious career, he never reached this number. Although, Jordan did score at least 50 points in three straight games on multiple occasions.
Bryant does have those two statistical marks over MJ but unfortunately for him, there are not too many more he excels at over Jordan. Jordan averaged more points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks throughout his career than Bryant has in his career.
Jordan's playoff numbers exceed Kobe's as well. Nobody has outscored Jordan in the playoffs, considering his average for points per game is higher than every other player in NBA history. Also, Jordan holds the record for the highest points per game average in a single playoff series as well as for the NBA Finals.
Many Jordan backers argue that Bryant never could win without Shaq, while Bryant fans state that Jordan never won without Pippen. However, most people fail to remember the NBA title won in 1998 by Jordan and the Bulls. Why this championship was so special is because Scottie Pippen, Jordan's Robin, remained injured due to his back throughout the entirety of the playoffs. This caused MJ to put the team on his back and lead the Bulls to another title ultimately by himself, something Bryant has yet to do. Also, a key example of Bryant's failure to finish off in the NBA Finals was in 2004 when he had an ensemble of four future hall-of-famers in the starting lineup. In attempts to take over, Bryant took multiple unadvised shots as he got shut down by Tayshaun Prince and the Pistons. The Detroit Pistons dominated the series, winning four games to one.
Jordan won every single NBA Finals series he played in. Not once did he get shut down when it mattered the most.
If you look at Bryant and the Lakers' recent struggles, the first impression would be that Bryant has no support to help him win. However, if you take a closer look, Bryant is going through a similar phase Jordan did early on in his career. In both cases, both players scored spectacular amounts without getting their teammates involved. The difference between the two situations is that Jordan went through this phase in an immature stage of his career. Bryant is currently in his prime with less time to make a fix.
In fact, Jordan's latest stint in the NBA took place when he was 40 years old, plenty of time past his prime. During this time, it is arguable that Jordan had less support than Bryant did this past year. Each team finished with a final regular season record of 42-40. If Jordan can pull out the same amount of wins at the age of 40 as Bryant can during his prime, Bryant's ability to get his teammates involved should be seriously questioned.
