Is there really enough interest in Celebrity Gossip to warrant all this insanity in the media?

Some of the shows that I used to find tolerable - I don't even watch TV anymore...

And now Yahoo News is loaded up with it too...

I don't really care about which rich teenage girl took her panties off for some spoiled brat....
I don't care who didn't pay their parking tickets...

I especially don't care about "reality" shows...

I don't give a hoot about who gained a few pounds...

Do people really take enough interest to warrant making the rest of us deal with all this stupidity?

Answer
Like you I find it intolerable as well. However people, generally, are like sheep and feel more secure if they are 'one of the flock'. It appears to give them the belief that they are 'normal'. Also, because most people take an interest in this sort of thing they are able to enter into 'discussions' about what 'celebrity' did what, why and when, it gives them something to talk about over the photocopier at work, and down the pub. Without it they'd be lost, in fact they may have to talk about something actually interesting or relevant....that takes intelect. We are always being told by the owners of these magazines/programs that EVERYONE is talking about it. This makes most people believe that if they are not interested then something is 'wrong' with them, that they must be strange/weird if they do not take an interest. So they 'get involved' and propagate the gossip! It's all a load of rubbish of course, but it's rubbish that doesn't require and real intelligence. As a nation/nations we are all being fed mind candy...it represses any real thought, thought that might make people ask difficult/searching questions, and of course that suits any government.

What are the best newspapers in England?

Answer
Cao :))

I think much of this is a matter of opinion. All newspapers in England have their political bias.. and if you want to have a fuller picture it is better read both a left wing and a right wing paper.
English newspapers are split into two main types.. Broadsheets which are serious and tabloids which are none serious newspapers

My personal FAVOURITE is THE GUARDIAN. It is a liberal paper..but I think it's coverage is very broad. It has also got a very good website and comment section with many interesting articles.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/

Some other broadsheets are.. (inorder of my personal preference)

1)THE INDEPENDENT- A left leading paper..I'm not as keen on it's website as the guardian..but it's 'paper' paper has been quite innovative especially with it's front pages
http://www.independent.co.uk/

2)THE DAILY TELEGRAPH. Right wing paper and the voice of retired army majors. Though whilst it's leaders and opinions are very right wing it's actual news coverage it quite fair. Has a fascination with Liz Hurley
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/

3)FINANCIAL TIMES. Probably the most 'neutral' and respected in terms of accuracy of the British English newspapers. But it is rather business orientated as you can guess by it's name.
http://www.ft.com/home/europe

4)THE TIMES. Was once the most respected English newspaper but it has gone down market a lot since it was bought by Rupert Murdoch.
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/

TABLOIDS aren't really a good source of news. There are rather sensationalist and jingoistic. Though they are a good source for celebrity gossip.
Most are right wing except for The Mirror. Though the Sun did support Labour during the last election.
The most famous tabloid is The Sun.
Some others include.. The Mirror, The News of the World and the Daily Star.

Here is a list of UK Newspapers on wikipedia..if you follow the links it gives an overview of every newspaper

What do you know about Byatt?

Sweet Mari

I am from Canada, but my grand-mother's grand parents came from Europe and were Byatt, (i think his first name was William), does any know anything about Byatt genealogy? Where do they come from, what's the meaning of the name?

Answer
Dame Antonia Byatt, DBE (born August 24, 1936, Sheffield, England) has been hailed as one of the great postmodern novelists in Britain. She is usually known as A. S. Byatt.

Life and career
Antonia Susan Drabble was educated at Newnham College Cambridge, Bryn Mawr in Pennsylvania, USA and Somerville College, Oxford, though her research grant to the latter institution (dependent on single status) ended with her first marriage. She lectured at London University extra-murally, the Central School of Art and Design and from 1972 to 1981 at University College London. Since becoming a full-time writer, Byatt has published several novels, most notably Possession, which won the prestigious Booker Prize in 1990. Two of her works have been adapted into motion pictures: Possession and Angels & Insects.

Also well-known for her short stories, Byatt has been influenced by Henry James and George Eliot as well as Emily Dickinson, T. S. Eliot, and Robert Browning, in merging realism and naturalism with fantasy. In her quartet of novels about mid-century England, she is clearly indebted to D.H. Lawrence, particularly The Rainbow and Women in Love. There and in other works, Byatt alludes to, and builds upon, themes from Romantic and Victorian literature. Byatt conceives of fantasy as as an alternative to--rather than an escape from--everyday life, and often it is difficult to tell if what is fantastic in her work is actually the irruption of psychosis. More recent books by Byatt have brought to for her interest in science, particularly cognitive science and zoology.

A. S. Byatt's first novel, Shadow of a Sun, the story of a young girl growing up in the shadow of a dominant father, was published in 1964 and was followed by The Game (1967), a study of the relationship between two sisters. The Virgin in the Garden (1978) is the first book in a quartet about the members of a Yorkshire family. The story continues in Still Life (1985), which won the PEN/Macmillan Silver Pen Award, and Babel Tower (1996). The fourth (and final) novel in the quartet is A Whistling Woman (2002). The quartet describes mid-20th-century Britain and Frederica's life as the quintessential bluestocking -- a woman undergraduate at Cambridge at a time when women were heavily outnumbered by men at that University, and later, a divorcée with a young son making a new life in London. Like Babel Tower, A Whistling Woman covers the '60s and dips into the utopian and revolutionary dreams of the time.

Byatt's younger sister, Margaret Drabble, is also a successful novelist, and the rivalry between the two is legendary, although of uncertain origin. It has been suggested by some that, before becoming successful in her own right, Byatt resented her sister because Drabble gained a starred double-first over her own mere double-first. Drabble herself suggests that part of the rift is due, after the death of Byatt's son in a car accident, to the guilt she felt that her own children survived (this reported by Suzie Mackenzie of the UK's Guardian Unlimited.) Byatt has stated publicly that Drabble's depiction of their mother in Drabble's book The Peppered Moth angered her.

She has also written several times for British intellectual journal Prospect magazine.

The Harry Potter controversy
More recently, A. S. Byatt caused controversy by suggesting that the popularity of J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter series of books is because they are "written for people whose imaginative lives are confined to TV cartoons, and the exaggerated (more exciting, not threatening) mirror-worlds of soaps, reality TV and celebrity gossip." In her editorial column in the New York Times newspaper, she scathingly attacked adult readers of the series as uncultured, claiming that "they don't have the skills to tell ersatz magic from the real thing, for as children they daily invested the ersatz with what imagination they had."

After the column appeared in the newspaper, her editorial was described by Salon.com contributing writer Charles Taylor as "upfront in its snobbishness." He also suggested that Byatt's claims may be due to jealousy towards Rowling's commercial success.

In an article in the Guardian, the author Fay Weldon defended Byatt in this controversy over Harry Potter, and praised her courage for speaking out. "She is absolutely right that it is not what the poets hoped for, but this is not poetry, it is readable, saleable, everyday, useful prose," Weldon said. She said she found the sight of adults reading the Potter series troubling, adding: "Byatt does have a point in everything she says but at the same time she sounds like a bit of a spoilsport. She is being a party pooper but then the party pooper is often right."

She was awarded a CBE in 1990, then a DBE in 1999.

What is the lure of being in a gang? How do gang members run if their pants are below their waist?

timbo44b

I see on the news (local and national) that gang members are constantly shooting at each other - on street corners, at homes, shopping malls, anywhere really, and it seems like it always occurs late at night. Why does someone want to join a gang? Why not get a job and get up early so you won't be out late at night? Has anything good ever happened after midnight? How can someone run when pants aren't properly worn, thus making an easy target? Are there really over 13,000 gangs in Los Angeles alone?

What does that have to do with the elections?

Why is this Daily Mail article being touted as evidence that global warming has "halted"?

celebrity gossip uk daily mail
on Back to black: Cher Lloyd showed off her new hairstyle to fans on ...
celebrity gossip uk daily mail image

A Modest P

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1335798/Global-warming-halted-Thats-happened-warmest-year-record.html

I quote:

"Read carefully with other official data, they conceal a truth that for some, to paraphrase former US VicePresident Al Gore, is really inconvenient: for the past 15 years, global warming has stopped.

...

The maths isn't complicated. If the planet were going to be six degrees hotter by the century's end, it should be getting warmer by 0.6 degrees each decade; if two degrees, then by 0.2 degrees every ten years. Fortunately, it isn't.

Actually, with the exception of 1998 - a 'blip' year when temperatures spiked because of a strong 'El Nino' effect (the cyclical warming of the southern Pacific that affects weather around the world) - the data on the Met Office's and CRU's own websites show that global temperatures have been flat, not for ten, but for the past 15 years."

Disregarding their erroneous application of a linear trend to the warming we'll see, why do they quite blatantly lie about the temperature data given by the UK Met Office? And why do deniers think this is OK?

The Met Office's Hadley Center maintains a temperature record of sea temperatures, and the CRU maintains a land temperature record - combined they make the HadCRUT3 data set. Here is a link to their data:
http://www.cru.uea.ac.uk/cru/data/temperature/
I graphed the monthly global data for their variance-adjusted data (several data sets in fact - please note the legend):
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260064787/sizes/l/in/photostream/
(Data has not yet been adjusted for differences in base periods - if you have information on the base periods, please answer my previous question; I'll update this graphic when I can.)

Close-up of HadCRUT3v, past 15 years:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260699144/sizes/l/in/photostream/
With 1998 as starting point:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260699156/sizes/l/in/photostream/

When the Daily Mail claims "global warming has stopped" within the last 15 years, do they mean to say:

- a trend of 0.1ËC/dec as measured from this data set for the past 15 years ⤠0,
- 1998 was 15 years ago,
- using a time frame of 13 (15?) years with the warmest as a starting point is an acceptable and unbiased approach to talking about global warming,
- 1998 is just a "blip" when calling the trend flat, but not at the same time (since 1998 is necessary to have a flat-ish trend in the first place)?

Or do they mean something else that might, I don't know, be supported by the very thing they cite?

And again, why do deniers think that this is an acceptable piece of evidence to quote, rather than the data itself?
Sorry, I was adjusting graphics before I posted this and had replaced the graphic that was going to be in the third link above, without correcting the link.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260704718/
Even better:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260704718/sizes/l/in/photostream/
Mm, actually, refer to the first correction, since that has info in the description about which color line is which.
Bob, would you prefer data from the University of Alabama at Huntsville, collected by anthropogenic climate change skeptic Dr. Roy Spencer?
http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/data/msu/t2lt/uahncdc.lt
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260699144/sizes/l/in/photostream/

Spencer's data actually shows a larger warming trend, and he's a skeptic. Tell me, did he manipulate his data upwards as well?
>>>I don't think the paper was peer reviewed so that means that there is a better chance that it is factual and can be trusted.

Yes, those were my thoughts exactly. It is strange, isn't it, how the greenhouse effect was disproven to exist and yet nobody ever caught on?

Obviously the rational explanation, aside from "the paper has fundamental flaws," is "global conspiracy against it."

However, I do not have the time nor the expertise to try to refute the paper. I will defer to other more experienced regulars here.
Ugh, I hate Flickr...
http://www.flickr.com/photos/56645614@N02/5260777088/sizes/l/in/photostream/
(sorry Bob - correct link here)
Hi again George, started skimming through your link, and this sentence caught my eye.

>>>According to the second law of thermodynamics such a planetary machine can never exist.

Sorry, it's going to take me a while to recover from that very elementary error of forgetting that the Earth's atmosphere is not a closed system and that it moves towards dynamic equilibrium after an enhanced greenhouse effect by gradually reradiating thermal energy within itself until the energy is able to find a pathway to escape through the atmosphere.
http://www.skepticalscience.com/Second-law-of-thermodynamics-greenhouse-theory-intermediate.htm
I'll also take note that neither of you answered my question.
Ottawa Mike, I'm not sure if you're referring to specifically me when you bring up how this is used to support the CO2 forcing theory - I am aware that this is not evidence itself. The argument that we have been seeing global cooling is what I'm countering. If the Daily Mail really was focusing on statistical significance too, they wouldn't be saying it stopped. You are right that this parallels that interview, and the Daily Mail was just as wrong now as they were then when they say global warming has stopped.

Answer
It may help to know a little about the printed media in the UK (which follows on from Danaâs answer).

Effectively there are three tiers. A the top are the serious newspapers such as the Times, Telegraph, Spectator, Guardian etc, these are the ones that provide detailed and in depth coverage of serious matters. At the other end of the scale are the tabloids or âgutter pressâ and this includes the likes of the Sun, Mirror, News of the World, and the People. These focus mainly on gossip, scandal and celebrities.

In the middle there are only really two papers â the Mail and the Express. The Mail comes in for regular lampooning by satirists for itâs sensationalising of just about everything, itâs running obsession with Princess Diana and itâs policy of blaming just about everything on asylum seekers.

The Mailâs journalists seem to be given an awful lot of leeway when it comes to expressing their personal opinions and as the old Fleet Street adage says âNever let the truth get in the way of a good storyâ. (Fleet Street being the colloquialism for the British press as this is the street in London where many of them were based).

Itâs not at all unusual for the Mail to run with a story one week and the following week have something in complete contradiction. In the example you linked to the Mail proclaimed that âGlobal Warming has Haltedâ and yet four days later they ran with the dramatic headline âClimate Change Could Give You Cancerâ
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1336810/Climate-change-cancer-UN-report-warns-deadly-pollutants-glaciers.html

As youâve superbly demonstrated, the article you linked to is completely bogus and the figures just donât add up. Itâs quite clear to any person who has the integrity and rationality to read beyond the headlines what the true facts of the matter are.

As for why the article is being touted as evidence that global warming has âhaltedâ â it makes no difference how inaccurate or fallacious something is, if it in any way implies that global warming is anything other than induced by humans then it will automatically be accepted, without hesitation or question, as proof that weâre not affecting the climate.

What was the strength of China in the early 20th century?

Bob Saget!

this is for a history assignment so make it serious

Answer
-The Chinese Republic maintained a tenuous existence from 1912 until 1949. Although a constitution was adopted and a parliament convened in 1912, Yüan Shih-kâai never allowed these institutions to inhibit his personal control of the government. When the newly formed Kuomintang (Nationalist Party, or KMT), headed by Sun Yat-sen, attempted to limit Yüanâs power, first by parliamentary tactics and then by an unsuccessful revolution in 1913, Yüan responded by dismissing parliament, outlawing the Kuomintang (KMT), and ruling through his personal connections with provincial military leaders. Sun Yat-sen took refuge in Japan. Yüan, however, was forced by popular opposition to abandon his plans to restore the empire and install himself as emperor. He died in 1916, and political power passed to the provincial warlords for more than a decade. The central government retained a precarious and nearly fictional existence until 1927.

During World War I (1914-1918), Japan sought to gain a position of undisputed supremacy in China. In 1915 Japan presented China with the so-called Twenty-one Demands, the terms of which would have reduced China to a virtual Japanese protectorate. China yielded to a modified version of the demands, agreeing, among other concessions, to the transfer of the German holdings in Shandong to Japan. The belated entry of China into the war on the Allied side in 1917 was designed to gain a seat for China at the peace table and a new chance to check Japanese ambitions. China expected that the United States, according to the Open Door Policy, would offer its support. At Versailles, however, President Woodrow Wilson withdrew United States support of China on the Shandong issue when Japan withdrew its demands for a racial-equality clause in the League of Nations Covenant, a provision bitterly opposed in the United States because of the possibility of unlimited influx of labor from Asia. The indignant Chinese delegation refused to sign the Treaty of Versailles. China, however, later gained admission to the league on the basis of a separate peace treaty with Austria.

Chinese youth and intellectuals, who in the previous decade had looked increasingly to the West for models and ideals for the reform of China, were crushed by what they considered Wilsonâs betrayal at Versailles. When the news reached China, a mass anti-Japanese protest demonstration, the May Fourth Movement of 1919, erupted at Beijing University and swept through the country.

The Kuomintang and the Rise of the Communist Party

A period of scrutiny and reappraisal followed, from which two clear objectives emerged: to rid China of imperialism and to reestablish national unity. Disillusioned by the cynical self-interest of the Western imperialist powers, the Chinese became more and more interested in the revolutionary changes in Russia and in Marxist-Leninist thought. The Chinese Communist Party organized in Shanghai in 1921, numbering among its original members Mao Zedong. In 1923 Sun Yat-sen agreed to accept Soviet advice in reorganizing the crumbling Kuomintang and its feeble military forces. At the same time he agreed to admit Communists to Kuomintang membership. Sunâs basic ideology, the Three Principles of Nationalism, Democracy, and Socialism, were charged with the spirit of anti-imperialism and national unification. Despite Sunâs death in 1925, the rejuvenated Kuomintang, under the leadership of the young general Chiang Kai-shek, launched a military expedition from its base in Guangzhou in 1926. Chiang sought to reunify China under Kuomintang rule and rid the country of imperialists and warlords. Before the Kuomintang completed the nominal reunification of China early in 1928, however, Chiang conducted a bloody purge of the partyâs Communist membership, and from then on he relied upon support from the propertied classes and the foreign treaty powers.

how did buying stocks on margin contribute to the stock market crash?

Mahmoud

help me plzzzzzz

Answer
I am not sure it was a factor in the 2008 crash....but it certainly a factor in the 1929 crash.

When you buy on margin you are in effect borrowing money from your broker under the understanding that he can call in this loan at any time and you pay a daily interest payment on this loan.

Back in the roaring 20's the stock market was very active. Times were pretty good following WWI and a lot of investors relied heavily on using their margin account

Let us give you a scenaro...you have $50,000 in your brokerage account....invested in a variety of stocks....your broker gives you margin of another $50,000 that you can borrow on. This sounds great as to date you have not made a bad decision....so you buy another $50,000 worth of shares and happily pay the daily interest because you are scoring a lot of extra money.

This became epidemic in the 1920's lots and lots of people wanted the "easy money" (kinda sounds familiar eh?) so they opened margin accounts and used them to the max.

The one day there was bad news and stocks dropped...maybe there was a week of bad news and the brokers were nervous...they gave their clients 24 hours to pay back the money they owe on the margin....the people had no more money...they were fully invested +all in on the margin.

Suddenly they found out that the brokers had the right to sell their stocks without their permission. There was panic and prices were falling as people tried to sell their stocks to payback their loans. The the brokers stepped in....they started to sell the clients stock....not the poorly performing stocks....no,no....they sold off the best ones so they could get their money back as fast as possible....clients were wiped out by this action and window-jumping was a popular way to end-it-all.

That is why using margin foolishly can be very dangerous...I was shocked to see a daytrader in recent messages here who apparently maxed his holdings + margin on his account to day-trade. Very dangerous IMHO...a bad trade can wipe you out doing this.

I am not sure this happened in 2008 but I am sure some investors fell this way...

How do I start my speach?

celebrity gossip show

celebrity gossip show image

Alexis -xo

it's about celebrity gossip and i'm not sure how to start it but i need a good intro please help

Answer
I would give it a good "hook" intro sentence that catches the audience's attention.

Like, something like:

do you know what drugs Britney Spears was on when she was carted away in an ambulance?

What happened to the show Dr. Phil was supposed to do on her?

Do you know these important facts?

You would know this and more if you kept up with celebrity gossip.

I'd bring some magazines like Ok or Us or In Touch with the pictures where they catch the stars doing "normal people" things like going to Starbucks for visual aides or make them into slides.

Answer
Watch one of the gossip shows like Entertainment Tonight and imitate. Check out People magazine and read the title lines for articles or blurbs. Read the introductory paragraph in the articles. Listen for the hook - the attention getter. Also, check out the teasers for your local T.V. news broadcasts. You want to put a picture in your audiences mind that gets their attention and prepares them for the morsel of information you are about to drop on their plate.

I am trying to find some sort of software that will allow me to set it to automatically download news articles from different websites based on set parameters. So basically, it will download certain news articles onto my computer in pdf or some other format without me having to do it manually.

Answer
The best software to always get the latest news is a feed reader. Try Google Reader. You can add unlimited number of feeds and you can manage them in different ways.

How do I review my comments on Yahoo news articles?

Irish Lad

So once I've typed a comment on a news article, I'd like to come back later somehow and have a shortcut to my comments to see what people thought or replied? I used to be able to do that but now there's a new profile.

How is it done now?

Answer
Dreadful. Yahoo is trying to see how much they can shoot themselves in the foot. If I read a few dozen articles in a day, I don't want to have to bookmark each article, and reload each JUST to see if someone replied to my comment.

What's the point of a comment area if you cannot find your own? I don't know of any forum that does not have a way to find your own comments and give you a hotlink directly to it.

I'm writing a paper for english on the uprising in Egypt. I know what it's about, I've been following CNN daily for 2 hours a day to get the latest information, but why is the news reporting on this so much? I can see it's an important historic event but is there any significance of this the US? Will we lose a good ally, or will it not really have an effect on everyday people? Thanks.

Answer
The news media is spinning it . So the world dose not concentrate on the fact the people are hungry .
An some countries are taking advantage of these hungry to adjust the political face of Egypt .

What is the current connection between the riots in Egypt and what is going on in Libya?

Kellerz

I am listening to the news in the background right now, and I am aware that there are riots in Egypt, but I do not understand why Libya is in the picture as well?
Any light shed on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
I'm from Libya and I'll tell you exactly what happened..

Tunisians started protesting a month ago, wanting the dethroning of their president. About 25 days later he left. All thanks to them.

Then about couple of days later Egyptians started protesting, about 18 days later. Husni Mubarak left.

Libya is a bit different, because we feared Gaddafi, we couldn't even speak of his name the past 42 years because he has a lot of people working for him and would turn anyone who speaks of him in to the police. And they would be put in jail, because he is a dictator, people all over Libya were jailed, killed without anyone saying anything because we couldn't.

Now, Libyans got the courage to start protesting against him, mostly cause we watched Tunisians and Egyptians make it happen and that gave us hope. Unfortunately we knew he would start killing people as soon as we started but that didn't stop us.

Here, in Benghazi, the 2nd biggest city after the capital, where it all started. had started protesting on the 17th on Feb. burnt down every police station and every military camp and freed Benghazi, 5 days later.

And the same went on for all the eastern cities in Libya. Now its all up to the capital of Libya, Tripoli, to start protesting against that cold-blooded Muammar Gaddafi.

About 3000 people have died so far.

Are you satisfied to see the media coverage of the well known popular news agencies of the world? What is your opinion on civilian casualty and what would be the best way to save the innocent lives in this situation?

Answer
It's disappointing and inaccurate at best: painting a one-sided, prejudicial picture that isn't always factual and, more often than not, reflects the jaded perceptions and political agenda of the reporter.

What are negative effects of globalization on culture?

ducky

We're doing a class debate and I have to write an argument for globalization negatively affecting culture. Here's what I have so far.

-multinational corporations promote the same product all over the world, encouraging a similar lifestyle throughout the world (âCola-Colinizationâ)
-âcultural imperialismâ= Western Ideals are established as universal ways and traditions
-U.S. exerts promotes its values and habits through popular culture and the news media ("Americanizationâ)
-countiesâ traditional foods lost to big fast food chains
-traditional clothing lost to big clothing brands

How is Facebook different from Twitter?

zig

Why do we have TWO when we could only use one. hehehe

Which is better ? how are they different?

Answer
Facebook has given millions of people a new way to stay connected. It is many things at once -- a messaging system, an online photo-sharing site, a discussion forum, a chat application, a friend finder, an advertising platform and more. You need a valid email address to open a Facebook account.

Description
Facebook is a social networking website that allows you to connect with people you know via the Internet. Use the site to search for old friends and lost relatives, share stories and photos, plan gatherings, promote your business and keep in touch with loved ones from afar. In short, Facebook helps you manage and stay on top of your social life.

How It Works
Every user on Facebook must have a registered account. Through your account, you create a personal profile that shows your name, photo and other details. Search Facebook for people you know or let it suggest individuals to you based on your account information. When you find someone who you may know, send a friend request to that person. If that person accepts your request, you will become confirmed friends on the site and be able to share your activities with each other.

Interface
Facebook has a consistent blue and white user interface. When you log in, the News Feed displays your friends' latest activities, photos and comments in the middle column of the page. Above are "share" tabs for posting status updates, pictures, videos and links. A navigation bar on the left column lists your message inbox, friends, applications and games. View your or one of your friend's profile by clicking the person's name. The menu on the top right of the page takes you to various account and privacy settings and the Help Center.

Cost
It does not cost anything to use Facebook. Nearly all of its features are free. You can buy Facebook credits for use in games or applications, but it is not required. However if you use Facebook from your mobile phone, your mobile carrier may charge you for Internet and/or text messaging use. And if you are an advertiser and you want to use Facebook's advertising program, Facebook Ads, you must pay to do so.

witter is a social networking and microblogging service that allows users to send and receive short messages, known as tweets. A tweet is a text-based microblog post of up to 140 characters. Twitter debuted in 2006, and has become extremely popular. As of March 2011, Twitter had more than 200 million users, according to the BBC.

Twitter Accounts
Twitter accounts are open to the public, and Twitter reports 460,000 new signups every day. Members use their email addresses to sign up for a username up to 15 characters long. "The Atlantic" recommends choosing a short username, since this information is appended to every tweet and can use up valuable characters. Twitter accounts are also associated with a "real name," up to 20 characters long. This name can be fictional, or may be a business or organization name.

Tweets
Twitter members send and read tweets through their user account. All tweets must be 140 characters or less, since 140 is the character limit for SMS or cellphone text messages. All tweets are public unless sent from a protected account, in which case all tweets may be viewed by approved followers. Twitter users are not required to tweet, and may sign up simply to read others' tweets.

Following
"Following" allows users to subscribe to another user's messages. Followers of an account automatically receive every message from every account they follow, via their Twitter pages. Users can find new accounts to follow using @twitter suggests, a personalized service that provides links to accounts similar to the ones that person is already following. Users can follow up to 1,000 accounts per day. Once an account follows 2,000 or more users, Twitter limits following access based on the number of people also following that account.

Modes of Access
Users can access Twitter from the Web, via smartphone app, and by SMS message. Special client applications are available for home PC or for mobile use. These make posting and reading tweets simpler and more efficient, providing more functionality than the main Twitter homepage. Some applications integrate with other social networks, allowing users to have only one social media dashboard.

How do you press charges, sue someone for malicious gossip, harassment?

celebrity gossip because your ugly

celebrity gossip because your ugly image

I'm making these Organza flowers, and I'm hearing crap about me on the radio station, it's being spread world wide. Even in the phillippines. I'm being discriminated for my face, being humilated on national televison, there's enough proof to sue for money.

I'm being defined as Ugly with a fat nose, busy eyebrows on a soap opera in the phillippines. Some people I know are harassing me about my face, won't leave me a lone. It's getting really, really old and it's a bunch of lunatic people.

I can't even watch the cartoon network channel, just be a BIG Kid. Some Sarra chick who lives in san deigo is obsessed with me. She's chasing some guy that doesn't even like her, is jealous of me because he likes me. She has been BULLYING me, won't leave me the F*ck a lone.

I'm listening on the radio station and I hear nothing but malice, bring out Porn star Stoya, saying my " father and I" can watch porn together. I don't even watch porn at all, and I'm not even a pervert. I don't even know who " stoya" is. I found out about her from this Dennis guy posting up her on facebook.

It makes Stoya look bad because people make fun of porn stars, also ruins her reputation. Your sex life is suppose to be private, not announced through the world. Some how people are stuck to me as glue, can't leave me a lone.

I change the other station, and I hear nothing but Malice about " Rihanna", Mary J. Blige. I really want to go to court but I need witness, people to stick up for me. They're saying " Do I really want to be Rich", live a celebrity life. I say.. to myself "yes". Because I'm being bullied as any other star like Kim Kardashian, Marj J. Blige.

What does Mary J. Blige have anything to deal with me? Saying she's a shop aholic, that she spends her money and she's in debt. She's probably an emotional shopper like me. And even if she was! Who the F*ck cares.

Who are these people running these radio stations in Tampa Florida or even in Florida. Then I hear nothing but Malice saying that this P-rod guy thinks I'm ugly from the outside but beautiful from within. My mother speaks tagalog, and I don't.

i asked her what they're saying, she told me about it. It's pretty sad to spread malice, hate because people are insecure about their face. Now.. it ruins P-rods reputation, it affects Mary J. Blige and Rihanna and tons of other celebrities as well.

How do you press charges for harassment?

I'm also being told that I'm some Chubby a** B*tch from the east side, that Kim Kardashian looks like some skanky a** bitch. Like me!

I'm also getting the " Golds Gym" being announced on the phillipino station.

What do you think I should do?
Of course there is, and I'm about to buy a tape recorder, stick it on my porch. This way when I hear anything that's in regards to me. I'll have proof, and start documenting more b.s. The problem is I don't have a car, and I need witnesses.

The more.. I do. The more I can stick them in a mental institution, put a restraining order on them.

Answer

Can someone who's "MATURED", isn't a "GIRL" who's obsessed with me, stuck on glue with me. Obviously, you can read what i wrote. If you didn't! You wouldn't even bothering responding to my "question".

I don't want anymore "GIRLS" talking to me. Unless.. it's a SMART indivdiual who isn't a lunatic.
