Looking for the highest win price, date, and name of horse that paid the highest win price in America

Answer
$2,922 payoff goes to "Power to Geaux" at Aksarben on Dec. 8, 1989, is the record in thoroughbred racing, according to the American Racing Manual. Also, can be found here- http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/national-news/2004/december/07/hoofprints-in-history.aspx

Here are the top 3 in the Kentucky Derby -

1. Donerail -Sent off at odds of 91.45-1, "Donerail" paid $184.90 to win in 1913 which is still the highest paying winner ever in the Kentucky Derby.
Each Kentucky Derby winner has their name on a sign on the back of the grandstand at Churchill Downs. To the left is Donerail's sign.

2. Mine That Bird- trailed most of the race before rallying down the inside in the stretch to win by 6 3/4 lengths at odds of 50.60-1, paying $103.20 to win in 2009. He went on to finish second in the Preakness to Rachel Alexandra and third in the Belmont behind Summer Bird and Dunkirk. He is a gelding and still in training for 2010.

3. In 2005, Giacomo closed late on the far outside to in at odds of 50.30-1 and paid $102.60 to win, second highest in Kentucky Derby history.

Is it True that Romney is winning amongst the Middle Class by 14%, per Politico?

Ben Artzi

I think its skewed.

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0912/81584.html

Answer
Better question...Is it true that Obama s winning. 47 to 46 in latest daily tracking poll? 43% are certain they will vote for Romney vs 41% certain for Obama...so dead heat. To add to that only 8% trust the media..all time low. Add all this together... food for thought.

Do people really think that celebrity gossip is actually news?

Ms. MD

Answer
My local news sadly does...

Why do people care so much about celebrity gossip?

talk_to_cy

Answer
I think celebrity gossip started out as a fun diversion for some people, years ago when gossip columns were buried in the back pages of newspapers and magazines. However, today, the media forces it upon us so often that many people have become brainwashed into believing its important. The media places the same importance on celebrity news as it does on actual news about world events, etc.

Edit: The person above me is a perfect example of why celebrity news is harmful to society. For many it becomes an obsession and the ultimate result is a dumbed-down, uninformed population. Now you know why people barely know how their own government works, but can name every love interest for their favorite celeb.

Why do so many people hate Rihanna?

Raissa

I was just watching celebrity gossip and they were asking random people about celebrities and whenever they asked about Rihanna people always had negative answers like she is a hoe or she is untalented. Even people at my school say that. What do you guys think?

Answer
I don't necessary hate Rihanna. I mean she didn't do anything to me so why should I hate her? She's nothing more than just a celebrity to me. However, I have lost a lot of respect for her over the years. The fact that she did an interview saying how going back to an abused boyfriend is wrong and then end up being back with an abused boyfriend years later, is someone who obviously cannot stand her ground and gets sucked into the abusive pool. Hey it may sound harsh and I do believe in second chances, but look at what Chris Brown has done since. It screams abuse and immaturity. But Rihanna chooses to defend and support him anyway.

Teen Girl Magazines UK?

Anna

I want to do work experience at a magazine, as I'm interested in journalism (particularly fashion and maybe some celebrity, but not trashy gossip). Anyway, when it comes to me doing the work experience I'll be under 16, so my best bet for magazines is those aimed at teens.

I'm not asking you to look through websites to see if they do work experience for under 16s and get me all the details, but just give me a list of teen magazines in the UK. I can only think of Bliss, Mizz and Sugar - it's been so long since I've bought one. Thanks ;) x

Answer
The ones I've heard of from the UK are Sugar, Goodie Bag Mag, Bliss, Cosmo Girl, Shout, Seventeen, Mizz, & some others. You can probably Google about more :) Good luck!

Need French TV/Radio stations?

_J_

where can I watch/listen to French programs online ?

Answer
Here's a list of the most popular French radio stations. You'll find a lot of crap in there, but will be able to find one you like (well, I hope!), as they play different types of music:

http://fr.dir.yahoo.com/Exploration_geographique/Pays/France/Actualites_et_medias/Stations_de_radio

As I don't know what you're looking for, I can't really tell you what station you should listen to.

But, here are a few:
Fun Radio (mostly dance music, I think), Skyrock (rap, hip-hop), and NRJ (a bit of everything popular): usually for teenagers and young adults. They have "talk-shows" at night

Europe 2 and RTL 2 are more for people who listen to rock music, Europe 2 playing new songs more often. It can be aby type of rock.

Chérie FM: a lot of French new songs, or old songs. It's what we call "variété" (don't know if that means anything to you!)

Nostalgie: VERY OLD songs! Can be fun, if you know them. Good ones as well (Aznavoour, ...)

I think Radio Nova is more "fashion", but I've never listened to it. probably French Touch music and electronics... Usually, new songs, I think.

Here's another link: if you're young, it can be interesting for you:
http://www.radiofrance.fr/services/aide/difflive.php
Scroll down and click on "Le Mouv'".
There are also a few other radio stations, which can be very interesting as they talk more than on the other ones, and they are mostly for "adults" and don't use slang words - they'll probably also speak more slowly.

I don't know about the ones under the list "Diffusion en Windows Media Player". They are regional radio. It can be interesting if they actually have people from the area, as you'd get to hear different accents (I tried to open a couple of links. They open, but it takes a while. Too lazy to check if they work. My computer is really slow, these days, so it might work well with yours)

TELEVISION:
No TV station in France can be entirely seen on the Internet (I think). But you can watch some videos. You can also usually watch the News (JT - stand for "Journal télévisé).

TF1: (I think it's the worst French channel!):You can watch the news, but also other things - interviews, in the cinema section, for instance:
http://videos.tf1.fr/video/news/?trk=1&e=8

France 2: you can watch the news for free ("le JT en vidéo", left-hand side) or you can also rent documentaries and other stuff in the "Vidéo à la demande" section (apparently: â¬3) or buy them
http://www.france2.fr/

France 3: owned by the state (I think!). Same as for France 2.
http://www.france3.fr/

Canal +: You can watch whole programmes (apparently; I couldn't make it work, but it's probably my computer again!):
You need to go to "Vidéo, bandes annonces". They usually have good programmes. Pretty fun, and interesting at the same time.
http://www.canalplus.fr/

[You will need to sign in for Canal +; I just did it: it takes 30 sec.! If they don't accept your Zipcode, just write down 83000. It's Toulon's zipcode]

France 5: cultural and interesting things. Most videos aren't free, but if you go to "VIDEO/VOD", and scroll down, you find whole programs for free. They are programs you can fr free for a week after it's been on TV. You can also find parts of docs., etc.
http://www.france5.fr/

Arte: This is kind of an "arty" channel, but basically, it's just more thorough in its treatment of a subject, and they also talk about art and things that don't interest that many people (unfortunately). However, they have things fot everyone, I think. If you go to that link, you'll see they have interviews of "indie" bands, so that's good news. Bad news is: it's NOT free! I give you the direct link to their video section:
http://www.artevod.com/home.do;jsessionid=BADAA23B5440083BA1A2B7D9378DB6EB

This link is their main page. This week, they feature "Tracks", which is a good TV magazine about... music, and culture, ang good stuff. You can have podcasts (but I'm not sure how it woks, as I've never opened a podcast!):
http://www.arte.tv/fr/art-musique/tracks/104524.html

M6: you'll need to pay for most videos, but some of them are free. I think you'll still need to sign in. :
http://www.m6video.fr/m6vod/jsp/content/home/home.jsp

However, you can watch the news, which only last 6 minutes, for free. You might be able to see other things for free, but you'll just need to check the links yourself!
http://www.m6.fr/html/m6_infos/lesix.php

Ok, I gave you the main French channels. Most people don't have cable or the satellite (although it's more common now). They also started a new thing, where we get new channels. I don't know their names, as I don't live in France for the moment, but I think you'll have enough things to watch with these 6 main channels! If you want quality programs, go to Arte or France 5. But I think it can be interesting for you to see a bit of everything. You'll see, we have a lot of crappy stuff as well!

PS: if you need more info (ex: if you want one type of programme, etc.), you can just add a question, and I'll try to do my best to answer (I don't know all the programs, but...)

Why are the most popular news network, radio talk show and newspapers all conservative? Is everyone just crazy?

Danny

Answer
Because our country is going to sh** in a basket and we are concerned. We want to know the facts not have it regurgitated by what this administration thinks we should hear. Gosh along with every other name calling from this administration I guess I can add Crazy to the list.

I'm a woman, I'm losing my hair due to a bad permanent curls done 10 years ago.?

Anna

I'm in my late 20's and I'd like to shave my hair, to start a deep treatment like taking hair vitamins, laser comb, shampoo to make regrowth my hair, etc.
Do you think is a good or bad idea? Could I regrowth my hair? Am I going to make it worse if I shave it? I'm not bald but I'm stressing out when I see my brush with a lot of hair ...Please I need your comments, specially if you are a hair specialist or a hairdresser.
Thanks

Answer
Bad idea! Google: Hair growth lawsuits. Hair growth caused other men nationwide in class-action lawsuits. About 1,640,000 results (0.10 second. Jan. 24, 2011.
Google: Hair regrowth firm gets the treatment as client sees no fringe benefits. University student Raymond Bayssari, 20, who despite boasting a head of hair most bald men dream about, was awarded a $1305 immediate refund after a tribunal found Mr Bayssari's hair had not regrown. Published 8-23-12.

According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated $176 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Donât let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.

CNN, Slate, Consumer Reports, MSN, YAHOO have posted them online for years how people spend $20 billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here's an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements.

Google: Are Supplements Good For You? About 58,000,000 results (0.13 seconds)

THEN Google: Are vitamins & supplements good for you? About 230,000,000 results (0.17 seconds). Some can actually shorten your life!

Even hairdressers have hair loss, if they're taking SUPPLEMENTS, MEDICATIONS, USING HEAT & CHEMICALS, ANTI-ACNE PRODUCTS, POLLUTION in the water, ALL HAVE SIDE EFFECTS.

I've had bad permanent curls in my life, before, but no hair loss there. Actually mom started perming my hair since 2nd grade, then started again in the 80's & 90's, still no hair loss there.

If you've straightened your hair in the past, it may grow slowly or none at all.
Google: "Foods for Healthy Hair"http://www.foodforhealthyhair.com/ http://sg.news.yahoo.com/food-for-healthy-hair.html - or 10 Best Foods for Your Hair.
http://www.channelstv.com/home/2012/07/03/10-best-foods-for-your-hair/
NO MATTER which link you picked, they all suggest the same foods. Your hair may be the fastest-growing tissue in the body but, unlike the skin, it cannot repair itself. That is why getting the right balance of vitamins and proteins is imperative. Don't expect to look like you've stepped out of a hair commercial the day after you've changed your diet. It is likely to take at least three months before you actually see tangible results. Hair is dead, but hair also has electrical energy; the negative charge of damaged hair can lead to flyways and unruly hair.

Growing healthy hair doesn't come from a bottle or pills and hair products do not speed hair growth. Any hair oil, is another form to keep hair moisturized, nothing more. If you're in HS, your hair & nails should be growing normally, and as healthily as possible, since you're eating healthy foods. But when hair isn't growing as fast, it's because they've been tampered with: chemicals, hair straightening, etc. . .

Cutting your split ends yourself, spend 5-10 mins. on a sunny day so you can easily spot them, using a 2" scissors, cut strand by strand, section by section, allowing new growth to take over. Then 2x a year, get a good hair cut. This won't speed things up, but it will make the hair look healthier while it's growing. Even healthy hair like mine get them, due to normal brushing & styling.

My hair grew 3/4" in 29 days. How I know? I had a feather extension before my birthday, it was braided, from the roots that's how long it had grown.

Best answer comes from people with Avatars, showing their healthy shiny, soft, silky, smooth hair.

Are there any hauntings where you work at?

<3 my nut

There are at mine. One time, I could've sworn the printer and a colleague's computer turned on by itself. When I looked in his cubicle, he WASN'T there! I was one of the first ones there. There were four of us who were early. And each of the three guys I talked to SWORE they never touched the printer, never thought of turning it on, and never touched the other guy's computer.
And the janitors always leave early because of some weird stuff. One of them saw orbs in the bathroom.
Another colleague of mine swore she saw shadows and heard some strange tapping noises, and doors closing and opening.
And I heard there was a "ghostly woman" who haunts the top floor. Another colleague of mine said she saw someone in the women's bathroom hanging from the ceiling, a noose around her neck.

Answer
I work for a very old bank in Cleveland, Ohio. This bank is still is business today, however, they've built a new building attached to the old building. I can tell you that 20 years prior to my working for them, I happened to be downtown with my new son, taking him to obtain a social security number. On this day, I took the bus, the bus stop for our return home was directly across from the new bank construction going up. As I stood waiting, I saw 3 men fall from the construction site, however, I did not see them fall to the ground as it was blocked by walls they had set up to block the site. When I got home that night, I heard on the news that 3 of the workers were killed that day from a construction accident. You may ask, what does this have to do with anything....read on....

20 years later, I now work for the bank, am an educated, professional person. I work pretty high up in the tower and had to work on a Saturday to finish a project. I was fine until I heard conference room doors closing that were on the other side of my office. I took a walk to the restroom and noticed the lights on and doors open??? I turned out the lights and left the doors open. I walked back from the restroom and the doors were closed. I knocked on the doors, heard nothing, opened and the lights were on with the door closed. I walked around the floor that day and could find nobody else working in my area.

Although I was a bit unnerved, I couldn't leave and had to finish up what I was working on. I went over to the sink area to get some hot water on tap, for some odd reason, the sink kept going on by itself after that. This was the type of sink that was not loose, you really had to pry to turn it on. It was then that I packed up my things and left for the day.

I really believe that there is spirit energy probably just because the bank is very old and maybe because of the workers that died building the new bank area. I never work over again, not even past 6 because it's too chilling for me. I just pack up the laptop and finish at home, but yes, I do believe in ghosts.
