I love reading my daily celebrity blogs, checking Google news, watching E! News, The Insider, Extra, Access Hollywood, etc. (and the Oscars, Golden Globes, SAG's, Grammy's during awards season) everyday to be updated on the latest gossip and juicy celebrity news and fashions.

What would be a great major for me to concentrate on if I'm into this "kind of stuff?"

Help Please! Any comments/information appreciated!

I have been giving paparazzis' juicy stuff to write about and I see them snapping shots, so I assume they will write something. But I have no idea how to read headlines or celebrity gossip I keep reading the newspapers and get nothing. So how do I read headlines?

Answer
I don't think you can. I think the paparazzi are there to annoy the celebs to make it all the more real.

she just there. I unerstand tht he cant have someone more famous than him but comeon.

Answer
I think Prince William probably has a funny life. He could walk into any club anywhere and anyone of dozens of attractive women would sleep with him, but he must be absolutely paranoid about who would want to exploit him with a photograph or a tabloid news story.
--------------
I would think that someone who is stared at his entire life deeply appreciates quiet unenventful time.
--------------
He may appreciate what his father went through. His dad basically couldn't marry the women he loved because she was too plain and unsuitable for television. He ended up marrying her in his late 50's.

Who else feels like yahoo isn't a good source for news and should stop news reporting?

latest news with kim kardashian image

Anthony

Writers from yahoo have too many articles on things that don't matter such as the latest thing that Kim Kardashian said, or which celebrities break up and get together. The news that does seem to matter is always written with missing facts and is sometimes just plain false.

Answer
No; go to the source. yahoo! News is an outlet for ABC News. Most of the socialist media that was once mainstream and still clinging falsely to the name should stop calling their propaganda "news".

Who are the Kardashians and why are they always on the Yahoo News?

Andres

I saw one comment in a different news story saying, "At least it keeps the Kardashians out of the news." I didn't know what he meant until 1 minute later. I looked at the news and the Kardashians were in the first page. Lately, I've been noticing a lot of stories about them and most of the comments below are hate comments against them. Who the heck are they, what are they famous for, why are they always on the news, and why do people hate them so much?

Answer
They are a family that stars in a reality show "Keeping up With the Kardashians" The three sisters are the most famous (Kourtney, Kim, and Khole) They grew up super rich because there dad was the defense lawrey in the famous OJ Simpson case (he was an american football star that was accused of murdering his wife in the 90's) They grew up in a cushy lifestyle, with lots of money. And they knew a lot of celebrity's so thats why they were offered a television show. The reason they have been in the news lately is because Kim Kardashian just had a HUGE wedding, that was like the social event of the year, and she is now getting divorced only 72 days later. So everyone is making a big deal out of it, accusing her for just marrying for money.

what's the

Been with my bf for 4 years. We're total opposites right down to our skin color. I like the outdoors and celebrity gossip. He likes role playing games and westerns.
When I see couples that do everything together and have all the same interests (like the eHarmony couples), I wonder if that makes things easier.
On the surface it seems like it would make for a smooth journey but I would go crazy if we were together every waking minute.
When we do have our quality time, it's always awesome but I think it's because we have that much needed time apart.
What has your experience been?

Answer
I think people like their opposites. It gives them something to talk about at the end of the day, and makes their quality time more meaningful. ANd yeah, who'd want someone around all the time? I'd like a guy who had his independance, but also thought of me, and wanted to come to me at the end of the day. Yes, things would go smoother if u were compatible, but compatible dosen't mean he's the carbon copy of u. IT just means that u guys get along, and get each other, and are willing to communicate when things go wrong, to fix them. I think that's the most important thing in a relationship.

How much does a normal tv cost?

Joanna

How much does a normal tv cost?

Like.. in my country we have a installation called 'SKY'
Which has.. Nickeleodean, Disney Channel, 'SKY' Movies MGM movies, MTV channel, E! (Celebrity Gossip nd stuff) And Anyway..

I'm wondering.. Without The 'SKY' how much would a normal tv cost without any advanced thingyz..

So Yeah Just a normal tv....??

Thanks

Answer
lol. there are many factors to consider when purchasing a television, such as size, brand, HD/standard, tube/plasma/LCD, and many more. you can find a small 13 inch television (measured from topleft to bottomright corners) at a place like wal-mart for about 25 us dollars. Then again, you can buy a top of the line Sony, Sharp, or Toshiba, LCD - in sizes from 15 to 60 inches, and in price ranges from 150$ to 5000$. but all in all I'd say that an average, tube-type (traditional) television, 19 inches, would sell for around 75-150 dollars.

What is the future of torrent websites? Are they really doomed? How will this affect the commonman?

I have skeptical about the future of torrents because demonoid was taken down last month and this month the pirate bay is starting to fade away. What would happen to the destiny of manking(illegal downloaders especially) if the apocalypse of the torrent world is close. I feel really sad. Can anyone come up with very rare alternative website that I can look for once the torrent sites are doomed.

Answer
Not quite sure what your concerns are.

Every tracker that gets shutdown, three more take their place.

Demonoid gets shutdown, everyone moves to kat.ph. The chain just continues, and as kick ass torrents is based in the Philippines, it's unlikely to be going anywhere soon.

Also, there's thousands of private trackers out there that are much harder to shutdown, and in many ways are far superior to public trackers anyway.

Torrents aren't going anywhere, as trackers are so lightweight and easy to setup, and don't command much bandwidth usage, there's no reason to see a decline, if anything the number of torrent users are constantly rising as things like the removal of demonoid (soon to be mirrored anyway), and the piratebay ISP blocks (which are EASILY circumvented within seconds of Google searching) mean that your average Joe's awareness of torrents is only becoming greater.

Also, I'm unaware that anything is happening to the pirate bay, their blog doesn't have any major news on it in this respects, and believe it or not, the pirate bay is no longer the most popular torrent site around.

TL;DR - They're not going anywhere, so I wouldn't buy into the government scaremongering and spin.

Hope this helps!
.

The Wearing and Tearing of Richard Tyler
By Shawn Hubler, Shawn Hubler is a West senior writer.
February 26 2006

Richard Tyler pads through his Italianate dining room, Diet Coke in one hand, antibiotics in the other, a slender convalescent in a big white turtleneck. It is late morning, and he has been out of the hospital for five days. His long hair hangs in waves of salt and pepper. His 59-year-old face, which has been compared to those of various debauched British rock stars, is a study in glorious past excess.

But on this particular weekday, in this tall, sunlit room filled with objects of beauty, he is clean-shaven and fresh from a week's mandatory bed rest. "So sorry," he apologizes, rummaging around the marble furnishings and the base of a sweeping staircase. The designer, who has dressed everyone from Diana Ross to the Desperate Housewives, can't locate his shoes.

advertisement
Then he smiles and makes eye contact. The effect is a sudden, almost irresistible impulse to help him, even for someone who has never met him, even as he is already shrugging and deciding to make do with his argyles. "One of fashion's nicest guys," those in his industry have called him, and to meet him is to understand the intense personal loyalty that he has inspired over the years. Or as he puts it: "I've always had people who believed in me."

For much of last year, those believers had also been worrying about Tyler. A scant decade ago, he was a bicoastal fashion star, honing the cutting edge of cool with his exquisitely tailored suits and gownsâproof that serious fashion could so exist in Los Angeles. But last May, he laid off all but four of his remaining employees, a close-knit workforce that had once numbered more than 200. Then he shuttered his landmark Beverly Boulevard boutique, once so popular that celebrities treated it as an after-hours hangout.

In New York, the talk of the runways that spring had been the extent to which his show was underwritten by Delta Airlines. Corporate tie-ins and design deals may have been the new thing, but Tyler, stubborn in his independence, had been seen as the least likely to sign up. "Did that show make you as sad as it made me?" the San Francisco Chronicle quoted one retailer tsk-ing, even as critics were raving about the clothing.

In L.A. fashion circles, there were similar laments. Tyler had been proof that rules could be brokenâthat the top rungs could be yours even if you didn't live in New York or kiss up to investors or go corporate or matriculate from some fancy design school. Now it appeared the master tailor had been overtaken byâwhat? Bad luck? Bad timing? Bad taste? ("Good taste is dead," is how one longtime local retailer summed up Tyler's scale-back.) Inevitably, there was gossipâthat he was retiring, that he was depressed, that the stress had sundered his marriage and that he had separated from his business partner and wife of 17 years, Lisa Trafficante.

Then, in early December, Tyler scaled an 18-foot ladder to saw off a tree limb that was overshadowing a hedge in the sideyard of his home in South Pasadena, lost his footing and gave the metaphor of his past year a literal and nearly lethal interpretation.

"How stupid, dying this way, so stupid," he remembers thinking as he plummeted toward the manicured earth beneath him. Had the branch broken the way he'd intended, he would still have been standing on top of the ladder. In the garden of the peach-colored villa, marble sculptures of the Four Seasons stood sentry as the shy, sweet Australian who'd risen to fame as the Godfather of L.A. Fashion hit the ground, hard.

First you're a nobody, then you're a somebody, then, after a while, you're somebody who used to be somebody. Occasionally, there's the comeback. Everyone knows how fame works. In fashionâas in show business, politics, media and other such preoccupationsâthe arc is a given, nothing personal, a natural law of the A-list universe.

Fame, however, is not to be confused with real life, as anyone who has ever been famous will tell you. Or with real art. Or, for that matter, with real success. Those are more complex, more about who you are and what moves you and where you came from and how you end up, and Tylerâwho spent the better part of December recovering from a ruptured spleen and a related bout of pneumoniaâsays he has been thinking a lot about them lately.

"One thing about fashion," he says, "is that I've never taken it that seriously. I've always taken it as a job. My mother did it, and I followed in her footsteps. But my father was a factory worker. I could just as easily have followed in his."

This isn't to say he is any less interested in his profession. "The news of my death has been greatly exaggerated," he told Women's Wear Daily on the day he announced that he was downsizing, and in fact he and Trafficante have continued to operate his eponymous couture business and bridal collection out of their South Pasadena atelier.

Private clients still fly in from around the world for his handmade gowns and suits and tuxedos, still so perfectly wrought that they could be worn inside out, as a Chicago retailer once famously marveled. In May, Delta Airlines will debut the chic new uniforms it commissioned from him, along with a line of luggage. Australian filmmakers are asking him to do costumes. Celebrities still crave him. ("I love Richard Tyler, omigod," laughs Diane Keaton. "He cuts a suit and literally transforms your body. Also, have you seen him? He's stunning.")

But Tyler, in a departure from the usual kiss-kiss shallowness of the fashion business, says the past year has been a lesson in what does and doesn't matter.

"I have wonderful sons whom I love, and they love me. I have a wife who has been so supportive," he says. "I want to be a granddad. I want to do all the normal things. And you know, this is the first time in my life I've been able to say that."

When Tyler is asked where he was born, he says he's from Sunshine, Australia. The name, to Americans, evokes kangaroos in sunglasses and surfin' Down Under, but in fact Tyler grew up in a tough industrial suburb. His mother, he says, was a strong-willed Roman Catholic who made ballerina costumes for the Tivoli Theatre and embroidered priests' robes for extra money.

"She worked hard," Tyler says, settling onto an antique love seat with his Yorkie Poo, Violet. "I can remember going to bed and waking up in the morning and she was still sewing. Big ashtray full of cigarettes. Still sewing." He was 5 when he started sewing too.

His memories are almost cinematic: The day his mother finished a bridal gown at the last minute, wrapped it in plastic and threw it over the handlebars of his bicycle with orders for him to take it to the bride as quickly as his pedals could go. The neighborhood boys who, when they found out he could sew, didn't beat him up but instead hired him to peg their pants for 10 shillings. The time a troupe of Japanese geishas came to town, and his mother took him backstage to see the beautiful women with white-painted faces.

"I saw all these other worlds, all these women, all this fantasy," he says. In his teen years, when his parents learned he'd been ditching school and demanded that he declare an ambition, he looked at his mother and blurted: "I want to do what you do."

He dropped out of school to become an apprentice. "One job was cutting corsets. Another was cutting shirts. Another job was cutting swimwear." He ticks off the assignments on lumpy fingers, scarred by industrial fabric-cutting blades. From factory to factory he went, until by the mid-1960s he and his mother were able to open a boutique featuring his designs and her sewing, and then a second shop, with even more outrageous fashions.

"My favorite designer back then was Ossie Clark," he says of the Liverpool Brit who defined the swinging look of '60s London. Mick Jagger and Twiggy wore Ossie Clark; so did Jimi Hendrix. It wasn't long before Billy Thorpe, the Australian rock star, discovered Tyler's dandyish, hand-tailored jackets. He was followed by other visiting rock 'n' roll acts.

Meanwhile, Tyler got married, although he wasn't yet 20. "She was the cutest girl in the clubs," he recalls of his first wife, Doris Taylor. "Big frizzy hair, big false eyelashes." She got odd jobs in beauty salons and public relations and, eventually, in rock 'n' roll too, as a secretary in Rod Stewart's entourage. The couple traveled and met peopleâartists, musicians. But they were young and unformed, Tyler says now. When his father died in 1971, they moved in with his mother. Four years later they had a son, Sher

Why Do people on yahoo answers say Is Taylor swift a skut?

Morgan

I love her. But I just don't get why do people say that? It's bad she breaks up with guys....
I meant slut

Answer
Do you mean 'SCUD'..? As in a driving shower or gust of wind..?

'SCUD Missile'..tactical ballistic missiles developed by the Soviet Union during the Cold War..?

or maybe 'SCAB'..as in one who crosses a picket line during a union strike..?

or 'SCAB' that is associated with 'SCABIES', a sexually transmitted disease..?

or 'SCAB'..the incrustation that forms over a healing wound...?

a 'SKIT'..? to move rapidly over a surface..?

or do you mean 'SLUT'..?
a woman who (in others opinions) has the morals of a man. or one who is promiscuous and sexually uninhibited..? Immoral or dissolute..? A prostitute..?

While I can not speak for the masses, it is likely that the people who have made remarks re: Taylor Swift's personal life hold the belief that women should remain in dysfunctional and unfulfilled relationships with men..put up with infidelity, abuse or anything else. Women who are confident, stable, mature, evolved, educated, and intelligent have the capability of determining if the relationship they are in is beneficial and a positive vs. detrimental or a negative.

Because she (or any other woman) respects herself, she will take a pass on remaining in a relationship which is not working out. That is a GOOD thing, btw.

Women (or men) who remain in unsatisfactory or worse relationships due to the fear of being alone, or not able to provide for themself alone..(or anything like that) are to be pitied.

I have not seen any proof of misconduct, inappropriate behavior or loose morals when it comes to Taylor Swift..From all accounts, she appears to be a very sincere and honorable person. She donates her time and funds to charities..she assists others at every turn. She appears to be a very nice person..so the alleged 'SLUT'-label would appear to be unfounded and one would have to consider the source of said gossip. It is THAT person who is (seemingly) behaving in an inappropriate manner by speaking of which they know nothing. Not to mention JUDGING another. Maybe mentioning that the person should take their OWN inventory would be in order..?

PS
For future reference; questions should be properly categorized. This is a Q that should be placed in the 'Celebrity' or 'Entertainment' category(s), or maybe even 'Society & Culture', etc. You'll receive far better and more A's if Q's are in the proper category. This category is primarily for Q's relating to technical Y!A Q's or account issues.

If a nuclear war ever happens, would going to the sewers protect us?

Just a thought

PS. Don't tell me where to post my question and no trolling
ok I know this is going to sound weird but how about a space shuttle all packed with goods and everything you need including your family. In case something catastrophic happens, we stay on space until an atom bomb is detonated then we can all safely land.
so what do you all expect me to do to survive?

Answer
I doubt very much that sewers would be the best place.

I can also tell you NOT to worry about nuclear war. I didn't notice if you posted question here in U.S., but whatever country you live in, understand that nuclear war is the catastrophe we should less fear. Up till now our "leaders" have acted much more wiser than we could have expected of humans and all situations--including the Cuban missile crisis in very early 1960's--have been handled appropriately.

If we do need to worry or concern ourselves with something, it should probably be the viruses--such as the Chinese bird flu and worse yet the SARS-like virus in Middle-East. Any of those two viruses could trigger a pandemic. Can we do something about it? Of course. The governments can certainly do something: On China's part, they are killing as many chickens as necessary and if NOT quarantining people, at least they are tending to the sick pretty fast and trying very hard to keep control of situation.

Up till now in China the virus has been found among the poor who constantly work with chickens and it's not been known yet to be transmissible already between humans. As for the SARS-like one in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Jordan, scientists have NOT the slightest idea how or where it's coming from. Now, think of this: Can poor, Chinese chicken vendors travel abroad?

Now, do you know that the first cases of the Middle-East virus have been found in extremely wealthy men of those countries I just mentioned? Do you know that in some cases the person has been found to be ill as they "traveled" to European countries? Do you know that already patients in France hospitals have gotten the virus and died? Also, the last I heard there was at least one case in Italy.

If we wish to extend our lives longer on this "modern" earth, we must take all possible precautions on our own and NOT rely on government to help us in any way. I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but in these cases what the government does is quarantine those they know are already sick, but by the time that happens it's already too late for many.

To make matters more "difficult" for Americans for example, I read two weeks ago that Qatar's airline will be opening offices in more U.S. cities and will be flying directly to Philadelphia, among other cities.

When will the qatar-bahrain bridge be constructed?

almawe

I heard they should have started working on it last year and it should end in 2015 but i haven't heard anything else since, anyone has any info/idea?

Answer
the construction started in 2009
however, in late 2011, media of both countries announced that the construction of Bahrain-Qatar Friendship bridge will be delayed.
no news or further information were founded about how far the construction went, but local newspapers guessed that they're probably still in the first stages of the construction
since the beginning, "before delaying" the bridge was supposed to be done by 2014. but now, after the delay, no one wrote about when it'll be done.

one of the main reasons that the bridge got delayed, is the discussions that took place in a Gulf council of having railways between the Gulf countries
and of course there are other reasons that resulted in the delay, for example both countries being busy with other internal stuff and issues, like the uprising in Bahrain, and the other construction that took place in Qatar in terms of "sports" as it'll be hosting the 2022 world cup, say like stadiums and so on
however, there have been discussions inside Qatar, wanting to finish the bridge before 2022, so hosting the world cup, would benefit both countries. based on that, some newspapers in Bahrain wrote that they are reworking in the construction.

some people say, that Saudi Arabia filed cancellation of Bahrain/Qatar bridge, claiming that it passes through the water borders of Saudi Arabia. but its believed to be just a rumor, since its hard to believe that it'd ever cross the water borders of Saudi Arabia, it is far, geographically, and obviously lol

How do I start an emailing list for a small business?

Jake M

So I currently work at a Hat Shop, and I have an idea to start an emailing list to send out newsletters, deals, and keep people updated on any new inventory that we have. I was wondering what a good program to use for this would be? I am looking for something cheap (hopefully less than $15 per month), and preferably one with an autoresponder. I also want one where it would be easy to make an attractive newsletter that will open in their email (instead of attaching a word document or PDF). I plan on just inviting people to join the email list and then having them fill out their name and email address and then hopefully I will be able to send new signups special deals (so that I can give people who just signed up a deal of say 10% off or whatever). One thing that worries me about sending out coupons is getting people who print out the same coupon several times and keep on using it, how could I prevent this? Any suggestions and ideas would really help, thanks

Answer
Hi, if your email list will be smaller than 2000 subscribers then you should go with MailChimp because it is free for lists that are under that size. It includes tools for creating nice looking emails and an autoresponder.

If your list is larger than that then you will not find a quality service that only charges $15 a month unfortunately. The cheaper services have very low inbox deliverability rates which means that your emails may never make it to your subscribers. Aweber is a popular choice for larger lists and boasts a high inbox deliverability rate.

In terms of the coupons you need to have some method of generating a unique code for every coupon that is issued and then storing that information after the coupon is redeemed. You could use a barcode or QR code for this to make data entry easier.

How many Twitter followers do you need to start getting paid for your accounts success?

libera

I know on YouTube you can get paid for your views.
How many Twitter followers to you need to obtain to get paid for your Twitter success?

Answer
Your question is directing you in the wrong direction.

You can make money on Twitter even with little or almost no followers. (You can reach people on Twitter by posting interesting tweets and they are all public, no matter how many follower someone has! People do searches on Twitter, too - and will find these tweets!) The amount of followers has nothing to do with your success. While it looks impressive if someone has thousands of thousands of followers it will tell you nothing about the financial success someone is having using Twitter.

How do you actually make money using Twitter? First of all Twitter does not pay you for anything.
You can use Twitter only as a tool to attract interested people. Here some ways what people do to earn money:

1. They create Twitter accounts around popular subjects like hobbies or for example environment issues and start posting INTERESTING tweets that want people to read more and to follow a Twitter account.

2. Then people create tweets that make people click on links that are:

a) make people subscribe to a newsletter
b) fill out a survey
c) read a product or service information page where products or services are sold

3. Most Twitter accounts will gather and collect names and contact information and then send these people offers and advertising and then earn either money

a) with selling their own products (software, products)
b) earn affiliate money (referring people to sites like amazon, ebay and get paid a commission
if someone buys something)
c) getting paid with CPA Marketing, where companies pay you if you make other people fill out
surveys and also leaving their contact details

So Twitter is just like Facebook and other social media networks just a PLATFORM where you can find paying customers, the platform itself will NOT pay you.

How quick do police respond to silver alerts?

Patti

If they respond to them in your state, how long does it take for them to search? An elderly lady recently was put on the silver alert list, her husband was in the hospital and she was driving back & forth and came up missing. They found her in a car in a creek bed upside down about a week later. Now there is talk of making the law so that police will actively start searching sooner.
Flower: A Silver Alert is when an elderly person is missing, the public is notified.
Flower: A Silver Alert is when an elderly person is missing, the public is notified.

Answer
I've never really heard of a silver alert, but it makes sense. I do know that when an elderly person goes missing around here, especially if they have Alzeimer's disease, the public is alerted via news broadcasts. A silver alert system would be a good thing to have, because if an elderly person goes missing, you can be pretty sure they want to be found, unlike a lot of runaways. What you report is a tragedy that could have been easily avoided.

Why do people say that Kurt angle is the only olympian to ever wrestle?

YWWE>BVW>m

Mark Henry
Ken Patera
Bad News Brown

or do they say he is the only olympic gold metalist? i only hear "wrestlings only olympic champion" which is not true

BQ: what event did ken patera compete in the olympics?
BQ2: to prove people are wrong when they say kurt angle is the only olympic champion, which event did bad news brown win a bronze metal in? I know this, do you?

Answer
I hadn't heard people say that. I've heard them say he's the only olympic gold medalist in wrestling, which is true. I do know Patera competed in the '72 olympics in weightlifting, but didn't earn a medal. Same with Henry in ' 92. Bad News Allen or Brown, won a bronze in judo in '76, the only american to this day to have ever won an olympic medal in that competition. Former IWGP champ, Naoya Ogawa won a silver in judo in '92. The Iron Sheik was said to have been an olympic weightlifter, but he failed to qualify for the '68 olympics. He did serve as an assistant coach for the olympic team later. Former AWA wrestler Brad Rheingans was on the '76 olympic wrestling team, but came up just short of a medal. He made the '80 team too, but the US boycotted so he didn't compete. Bob Roop wrestled in the '68 olympics, but didn't medal either. Several other japanese wrestlers like Yoshiaki Yatsu, Jumbo Tsuruta & Hiroshi Hase were in the olympics also. El Gigante/Giant Gonzalez was on the Argentina olympic basketball team in 'the '80's.

What are some good drama/romance movies?

latest news john travolta image

Duckie

I just watched The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and it was really good. I want to watch another one in the same genre. What would you reccommend?

Answer
Here are some I really liked:

CRUEL INTENTIONS: Kathryn makes a bet that her step-brother, Sebastian, won't be able to bed Annette (a virgin, who wants to wait until love). If he loses, Kathryn gets his Jaguar, if he wins, he gets Kathryn.

MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE: A woman discovers a tragic love letter in a bottle on a beach, and is determined to track down its author.

THE FAMILY STONE: An uptight, conservative, businesswoman accompanies her boyfriend to his eccentric and outgoing family's annual Christmas celebration and finds that she's a fish out of water in their free-spirited way of life.

VANITY FAIR: The British Empire flowers; exotic India colors English imaginations. Becky Sharp, the orphaned daughter of a painter and a singer, leaves a home for girls to be a governess, armed with pluck, a keen wit, good looks, fluent French, and an eye for social advancement. Society tries its best to keep her from climbing. An episodic narrative follows her for 20 years, through marriage, Napoleonic wars, a child, loyalty to a school friend, the vicissitudes of the family whose daughters she instructed, and attention from a bored marquess who collected her father's paintings. Honesty tempers her schemes. No aristocrat she, nor bourgeois, just spirited, intelligent, and irrepressible.

SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY: Laura and Martin have been married for four years. They seem to be the perfect, happiest and most successful couple. The reality of their house- hold, however, is very different. Martin is an abusive and brutally obsessed husband. Laura is living her life in constant fear and waits for a chance to escape.

THE ILLUSIONIST: In turn-of-the-century Vienna, a magician uses his abilities to secure the love of a woman far above his social standing.

RETURN TO PARADISE (1998) - Three friends share an exciting vacation in Malaysia, full of fun, drinks, women and hash. When the vacation is over, each have dreams of continuing their lives, and they all go their separate ways. One of them (Phoenix) remains on the tropical paradise to fulfill a dream of working with apes for research. Two years later, a lawyer (Heche) comes to New York and hunts down the other two friends to give some sad news. A few days after they left the island, police raided their camp and found amazingly large quantities of hash left about. Phoenix was still residing there, so he had to take the blame. He is set to be put to death in 8 days, and the only way the charges can be decreased is if the two friends come back to paradise and take their share of the responsibilty.

THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES: A reporter is drawn to a small West Virginia town to investigate a series of strange events, including psychic visions and the appearance of bizarre entities.

LADDER 49: Under the watchful eye of his mentor Captain Mike Kennedy (John Travolta), probationary firefighter Jack Morrison (Joaquin Phoenix) matures into a seasoned veteran at a Baltimore fire station.

THE SHIPPING NEWS: An emotionally-beaten man with his young daughter moves to his ancestral home in Newfoundland to reclaim his life.

THE ISLAND: A man goes on the run after he discovers that he is actually a "harvested being", and is being kept along with others in a utopian facility. Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson.

LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN: A case of mistaken identity lands Slevin into the middle of a war being plotted by two of the city's most rival crime bosses: The Rabbi and The Boss. Slevin is under constant surveillance by relentless Detective Brikowski as well as the infamous assassin Goodkat and finds himself having to hatch his own ingenious plot to get them before they get him.

I remember that 5 or 10 years ago there was a very popular news about a scientific study that said that coke (coca-cola) killed human neurons. The problem is that I can't find it. The question is: Do you remember this news and can you help me to find it?

Answer
It is the aspartame (sugar substitute) and not the coka cola. You would have to drink a huge amount!

Who approves of Obama's latest plan to increase foreign aid to Africa to 80 billion dollars?

Q. This just came out on Reuters news service! Isn't that a lot of money? We could use that money to breed more sea monkeys and cure world hunger!

Answer
what a laugh

it's not my business to care or not to care. I don't have access to all the information on the subject and what's available will probably be slanted one way or the other; I stopped trusting reporters after my first police blotter write-up back in '93.

anyway, it's all just money on paper just like most of the money in the world. What it amounts to in reality is the potential for real help to people who really need it, the permission to take action. I understand that we have great problems here outside my window but at least if I'm really really hungry I can grab your half eaten mcburger out of the trash. A starving kid in Africa probably can't even find a brick of Ramen for crissakes.

I love questions like this because it turns into a greed showcase. Everybody squirms around trying to justify their own personal greed with insults and slander and excuses. I want someone who is literally starving and suffering in the USA to post an answer on here complaining about money going to the wrong place. you won't get that though because those people are out working like slaves for the rest of us lazy assh*les who have the luxury to sit at a keypad all day playing the Q & A game. *exhale*
