Is infinite punishment for finite offenses just and loving?

MN

Bryce I am not sure what that means, but great try at redirecting what is an obvious problem with your faith into something meaningless.

Answer
Are you able to define "finite offenses"? If you try, you might run into difficulties.

For example, the news has just stated that a woman giving evidence in Court against a couple who sexually abused her years ago, has just committed suicide. This happened after she had given her evidence in Court. The Judge has issued a news black-out for the case to continue.

Now, how 'finite' were the crimes allegedly committed against this woman (assuming the couple are proven guilty)? The victim has been unable to continue living with herself. She is now dead.

Consider the case of the Australian DJ pranksters who phoned a London hospital pretending to be royalty (when the Duchess of Cambridge was receiving treatment.) One of the nurses who took that prank call later committed suicide. Compare the two situations. One crime was sexual abuse, the other was a joke. But two women were driven to suicide. What generational suffering will be experienced by those females families? How 'finite' were those respective offenses?

I cannot go on to answer your question until the matter of 'finite offenses' is settled.

Which one would be better to marry?

The future duke of Norfolk or a Lord who is a first cousin to the future King of England? If you marry the lord, you'll only be a lady but you will get closer to the Queen! but if you marry the future Duke, you will later on become a Duchess and inherit lots of land but you will not be a Windsor.

Answer
I'd opt for Henry Miles Fitzalan-Howard, the Earl of Arundel (1987-), a formula BMW race car driver, who enjoys skiing, hiking, and climbing the Alps, and who as the future Duke of Norfolk, is Britain's most eligible bachelor. Of course, a successful marriage is built on shared interests and compatibility.

I can't think of any male first cousins to Prince William who are Windsors who a) are old enough to marry, or b) who aren't already married. Viscount Althorp, Louis Frederick John Spencer (1994-) lives in Capetown, South Africa, and his family life could be charitably described as "dysfunctional".

P. S. -- A little research turns up two bachelors who are the sons of Diana, the Princess of Wales' sisters: George Edmund McCorquodale (1984), who attended Harrow and is supposedly a Prince Harry look-a-like, and the Honourable Alexander Robert Fellowes (1983-), who is a fourth year Classicist at Trinity College Cambridge and who also went to Eton College like Prince William and Prince Harry. Fellowes is the President of the Claret Club, an old Etonian Society, and in December 2006, he made the news for his role in a drunken drawl at the Bullindon Club.

(This answer, btw, is starting to sound like one of Dorothy Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey novels.)

Is there "Kite Festival" in any other country than India?

Rhkbvt

Answer
Kite flying is popular in many Asian countries, where it often takes the form of 'kite fighting', in which participants try to snag each other's kites or cut other kites down.[34] Fighter kites are usually small, flat, flattened diamond-shaped kites made of paper and bamboo. Tails are not used on fighter kites so that agility and maneuverability are not compromised.

In Afghanistan, kite flying is the most popular game of Asia, and is known in Dari as Gudiparan Bazi. Some kite fighters pass their strings through a mixture of ground glass powder and glue. The resulting strings are very abrasive and can sever the competitor's strings more easily. The abrasive strings can also injure people. During the Taliban rule in Afghanistan, kite flying was banned, among various other recreations.

In Vietnam, kites are flown without tails. Instead small flutes are attached allowing the wind to "hum" a musical tune. There are other forms of sound-making kites. In Bali, large bows are attached to the front of the kites to make a deep throbbing vibration, and in Malaysia row of gourds with sound-slots are used to create a whistle as the kite flies. In Pakistan, kite flying is a popular ritual for the spring festival known as Basant. However, kite flying is currently banned as some kite fliers engage in kite battles by coating their strings with glass or shards of metal, leading to injuries and death. Kite fighting is a very popular sport in Pakistan, mainly centered in Lahore. Kup, Patang, Guda, and Nakhlaoo are some of the kites used in fighting and they vary in balance, weight and speed through the air.
Bermuda kite

Weifang, Shandong, China promotes itself as the kite capital of the world. It is home to the largest kite museum in the world, which has a display area of 8100 m2. Weifang hosts an annual international kite festival on the large salt flats south of the city. There are several kite museums in Japan and others in UK, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand and the USA.In Greece and Cyprus, flying kites is a tradition for Clean Monday, the first day of Lent. In the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, traditional Bermuda kites are made and flown at Easter, to symbolise Christ's ascent. Bermuda kites hold the world records for altitude and duration.
In Chile, it is very popular, especially during Independence Day festivities (September 18).

In Guyana, kites are flown at Easter and is an activity participated in by all ethnic and religious groups. Kites are generally not flown at any other time of year. Kites start appearing in the sky in the weeks leading up to Easter and school children are taken to parks for the activity. It all culminates in a massive airborne celebration on Easter Monday especially in Georgetown, the capital, and other coastal areas. The history of the practice is not entirely clear but given that Easter is a Christian festival, it is said that the flying kite is symbolic of the Risen Lord. Moore[36] describes the phenomenon in the 19th century as follows:

A very popular Creole pastime was the flying of kites. Easter Monday, a public holiday, was the great kite-flying day on the sea wall in Georgetown and on open lands in villages. Young and old alike, male and female, appeared to be seized by kite-flying mania. Easter 1885 serves as a good example. âThe appearance of the sky all over Georgetown, but especially towards the Sea Wall, was very striking, the air being thick with kites of all shapes and sizes, covered with gaily coloured paper, all riding bravely on the strong wind"

(His quotation is from a letter to The Creole newspaper of December 29, 1858).

The exact origins of the practice of kite flying (exclusively) at Easter are unclear. Brereton and Yelvington[37] speculate that kite flying was introduced by Chinese indentured immigrants to the then colony of British Guyana in the mid 19th century. The author of an article in the Guyana Chronicle newspaper of May 6, 2007 is more certain:

Kite flying originated as a Chinese tradition to mark the beginning of spring. However, because [] the plantation owners were ever so suspicious of the planter class [read, plantation workers], the Chinese claimed that it represented the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It was a clever argument, as at that time, Christians celebrated Easter to the glory of the risen Christ.

Lets face it, a lot of us follow our favorite celebrities on Twitter, Facebook etc. argue with others over why a particular artist is good or not, post in the celebrity section of course, have display pictures of them, read celebrity gossip and basically want to know what celebrities are doing all the time. How do your life be without spending so much time obsessing over celebrities? Personally, I don't know that I could spend a month even without going back and discussing my favorite celebrities.

Why the Media people (News reporters & journalists) used muslim* tag for criminals whose religion is Islam?

Romanticlo

And these same Media people, news reporters did not used or mentioned these pre-text religions in making news reporting like Catholic criminals, Budhists criminals, Jewish criminals or Protestant criminals when making the whole story so that no biases for all religions?

This is irony in the field of mass media in helping or making muslim more popular religion of all.

Answer
If Islam is the best religion, why are many of the Muslims dishonest, unreliable, and involved in activities such as cheating, bribing, dealing in drugs, etc.?

Answer:

1. Media maligns Islam

Islam is without doubt the best religion but the media is in the hands of the westerners who are afraid of Islam. The media is continuously broadcasting and printing information against Islam. They either provide misinformation about Islam, misquote Islam or project a point out of proportion, if any.

When any bomb blasts take place anywhere, the first people to be accused without proof are invariably the Muslims. This appears as headlines in the news. Later, when they find that non-Muslims were responsible, it appears as an insignificant newsâ item.

If a 50 year old Muslim marries a 15 year old girl after taking her permission, it appears on the front page but when a 50 year old non-Muslim rapes a 6 year old girl, it may appear in the news in the inside pages as âNewsbriefsâ. Everyday in America on an average 2,713 cases of rape take place but it doesnât appear in the news, since it has become a way of life for the Americans.

2. Black sheep in every community:

I am aware that there are some Muslims who are dishonest, unreliable, who cheat, etc. but the media projects this as though only Muslims are involved in such activities. There are black sheep in every community. I know Muslims who are alcoholics and who can drink most of the non-Muslims under the table.

3. Muslims best as a whole:

Inspite of all the black sheep in the Muslim community, Muslims taken on the whole, yet form the best community in the world. We are the biggest community of tee-totallers as a whole, i.e. those who donât imbibe alcohol. Collectively, we are a community which gives the maximum charity in the world. There is not a single person in the world who can even show a candle to the Muslims where modesty is concerned; where sobriety is concerned; where human values and ethics are concerned.

4. Donât judge a car by its driver:

If you want to judge how good is the latest model of the "Mercedes" car and a person who does not know how to drive sits at the steering wheel and bangs up the car, who will you blame? The car or the driver? But naturally, the driver. To analyze how good the car is, a person should not look at the driver but see the ability and features of the car. How fast is it, what is its average fuel consumption, what are the safety measures, etc. Even if I agree for the sake of argument that the Muslims are bad, we canât judge Islam by its followers? If you want to judge how good Islam is then judge it according to its authentic sources, i.e. the Glorious Qurâan and the Sahih Hadith.

5. Judge Islam by its best follower i.e. Prophet Mohammed (pbuh):

If you practically want to check how good a car is put an expert driver behind the steering wheel. Similarly the best and the most exemplary follower of Islam by whom you can check how good Islam is, is the last and final messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Besides Muslims, there are several honest and unbiased non-Muslim historians who have acclaimed that prophet Muhammad was the best human being. According to Michael H. Hart who wrote the book, âThe Hundred Most Influential Men in Historyâ, the topmost position, i.e. the number one position goes to the beloved prophet of Islam, Muhammad (pbuh). There are several such examples of non-Muslims paying great tributes to the prophet, like Thomas Carlyle, La-Martine, etc.

Which author wrote both a popular newspaper comic strip and a how-to-design-comics book?

deepercolo

I can't think of the name of the author, his comic strip, OR the book he wrote that I'm looking for! The cover of his book is a cartoon self portrait, and I think he has a star on his shirt? He also is wearing round glasses. This apparently is a great starter book for comic writers/illustrators, so I feel like it's probably popular. I know that his comic strip is popular as well. Please and thank you!

Colonial newspaper? Comic strip ideas?

popcorny10

ss project.. we have to make this colonial newspaper due this friday.. i have to make a comic strip for it.. but idk whut i shud do for it. i mean, whut wud they find funny in the colonial times (1771)? i was thinkin somethin against the "red jackets" and havin somethin about a red yellow-jacket. u know those yellow-jacket wasp things? i could make one red and have it do somethin funny... but idk whut to do. pleaseee helppp?! :(

thank youu :))

Answer
Hi

I wondered if maybe you could do something on colonial punishments :-) Have you heard of the stocks or the pillory? The stocks and the pillory were two of the punishments that were used in colonial times and they were pretty unpleasant for the criminals locked in them but lots of fun for everyone else :-)

The pillory was a wooden frame with holes in for your head and hands, and it was always set up in the town square, where everyone could see it. If you had been sentenced to a day in the pillory, you would be taken into the town square and you'd have to stand behind the pillory and bend forward a little. The top half of the pillory would be lifted up and you would have to put your head and hands in the holes in the wood. As soon as your head and hands were in position, the top half of the pillory would be lowered and locked in place, so that you couldn't get your head or hands out :-)

The stocks were always put next to the pillory and they had holes in for your hands and feet. If you had been sentenced to a day in the stocks, you had to sit on a wooden bench and stick your hands and feet right out in front of you, so that they could be locked in the holes in the frame. It was really humiliating to have to sit in the stocks or stand in the pillory, and people would come along to tease you, laugh at you, and make fun of you.

If you had been sentenced to a spell in the stocks or the pillory, you would normally be locked in for a whole day! There was always great excitement when it was announced that someone would be going in the stocks or the pillory and everyone would go along to the town square to watch the punishment!

The worst part of the punishment was that people were allowed to throw things at criminals in the stocks and the pillory! People used to keep a supply of rotten eggs and whenever they heard that someone was about to be put in the stocks or the pillory, they would put some of their rotten eggs in a basket and go along to the marketplace to hurl them at the poor criminal!

People in the stocks and the pillory would be pelted with all sorts of disgusting things - the smellier, the better! The most popular missiles - which happened to be the most unpleasant missiles to be pelted with :-) - were rotten eggs, bad fruit, mouldy vegetables, smelly fish, and various types of poo. Because they were so smelly and messy, dog poo, cow pats and horse manure were especially good for throwing at criminals in the stocks and the pillory, and people used to gather up the smelliest poo they could find and hurl it at the helpless victims :-)

By the end of the day, people in the stocks or the pillory would have been really dirty and smelly, and I'm sure they would have stunk for weeks after their punishment!

I thought that maybe you could have a scene in your comic in which some criminals are being punished in the stocks and the pillory. There could be a crowd standing around the criminals, making fun of them and pelting them with rotten eggs and mouldy fruit!

I hope that your project goes really well :-) If you need any more help or information, just email me :-) Good luck!

Who's the lady in black that visit's Rudolph Valentino?

sspaschal2

Are there any descendants or friends still alive that know who the lady in black is, that religiously visited his gravesite?

Answer
One of the greatest and most enduring Hollywood legends concerns the mysterious "Lady in Black" who visits Valentino's crypt each year on the anniversary of his death. The visits began on the first anniversary when the woman, clad in black from head to toe, including a heavy black veil, entered the mausoleum, left roses at Valentino's crypt, and departed without saying a word. But who was the "Lady in Black"? And what was her relationship with Valentino?

According to the most popular and enduring version of the legend, Valentino was friends with a woman whose daughter, Ditra Flame, was seriously ill in a hospital. Valentino went to visit the girl and brought her a single red rose. "You're not going to die at all," Valentino told her. "You are going to outlive me by many years. But one thing for sure -- if I die before you do, you please come and stay by me because I don't want to be alone, either. You come and talk to me."

Shortly after Valentino's visit, little Ditra got better. When Valentino died a few years later, she remembered his request and brought a bouquet of red roses to his crypt every year on the anniversary of his death, but she never spoke about it, and never told anyone her story. The press noticed her visits, and widely publicized the story of the mysterious "Lady in Black."

In the early 1940s, a former Ziegfeld showgirl named Marian Watson, who performed as Marian Brenda, began visiting Valentino's crypt and claimed that she was the original "Lady in Black." According to various reports, Valentino either proposed to her the night before he was hospitalized in 1926, or she secretly married him in 1925 and gave birth to at least one of his children. Other women began to come forward and claim that they were the original "Lady in Black," and told various stories about their relationships with Valentino.

Perhaps in response to all the "Lady in Black" pretenders, Ditra Flame finally took off her black veil and told her story in 1947. She continued to visit Valentino's crypt until 1954, when she became one of many "Ladies in Black," and the annual memorial service had became a gaudy and sensational spectacle. She resumed her annual visits in 1977, but wearing street clothing instead of the traditional mourning outfit. Flame died in 1984 and her gravestone, in San Jacinto, CA, identifies her as the "Lady in Black."

The second generally recognized "Lady in Black" was Estrellita del Regil, a former Spanish actress who began visiting Valentino's crypt in the early 1970s as a tribute to her late mother, whom she felt was Valentino's unrequited love. She continued her visits until 1993, when illness prevented her from making her annual pilgrimage.

Taking the role as the third "Lady in Black" was Vicki Callahan, who did not originally intend to carry on the tradition. She was simply a great fan of the silent star, and wanted to pay her respects. But when she was shown, dressed in black, on a television news broadcast in 1995 placing roses at Valentino's crypt, and was identified as "the third Lady in Black," Callahan accepted the job, and continues to make her annual visits.

Why do people care so much about celebrity gossip?

talk_to_cy

Answer
I think celebrity gossip started out as a fun diversion for some people, years ago when gossip columns were buried in the back pages of newspapers and magazines. However, today, the media forces it upon us so often that many people have become brainwashed into believing its important. The media places the same importance on celebrity news as it does on actual news about world events, etc.

Edit: The person above me is a perfect example of why celebrity news is harmful to society. For many it becomes an obsession and the ultimate result is a dumbed-down, uninformed population. Now you know why people barely know how their own government works, but can name every love interest for their favorite celeb.

i love to hear the gossip and news on celebrities....?

I'm new to USA, its very hard for me to find good TV shows out of 250 channels and thousands of programs. So please name few famous TV Shows/Programs that you like the most. Category can be anything comedy, action, science, news, music, reality, history, etc but except sport related ( Yes, I'm not interested in sports).

Answer
Lots of things are popular but I'll give you a quick rundown of the programs myself and my family enjoy:
Sci-Fi "Fringe","Stargate;Universe","Caprica"
Drama: "Castle","Hawaii 5-O"
Reality: "Deadliest Catch","Mythbustres"
Comedy: "30 Rock","The Middle","The Big Bang Theory"
News: I'm sure the next batch of respondents to this will have something childish and idiotic to say to this but I watch Fox News. I find that Fox is the only channel that doesn't seem to be working for the White House's propaganda machine.
Form your own opinions regarding the news but the other shows I've listed are pretty damn good.

Answer
Mexican drug cartels have displaced Colombians in many ways to enter the U.S. market is more practical and useful to do, through Mexico, than another country. The latest report we have, is that over 60% of Mexico, is under the control of these cartels, the Zetas, have become a private armed force, well prepared, with first-world logistics to dominate the drug trade.

What President Calderon of Mexico does, is' the only sensible thing he can do for now. What he has accomplished is to keep embattled Mexican drug cartels, with unconditional support of the U.S. Government. The reality is a long and bloody battle. Many more will die before defeating these criminals or stop drug trafficking. Ok.

Guatemala: Massacre work of Mexico drug gang Zetas what are your thoughts?

Johnny

SAN BENITO, Guatemala â One of Guatemala's worst massacres since the end of the country's decades-long civil war was the work of the brutal Mexican drug cartel the Zetas, Guatemalan officials said Monday.

The gang's violent signature could be seen in the manner and style in which the 29 bodies were found: bound, beheaded and strewn across a grassy field near their cut-off heads, said Guatemalan Interior Minister Carlos Menocal.

Two children and two women were among the dead, most of whom worked on the dairy ranch where the bodies were found, according to Luis Armando Garcia, 23, a survivor of the bloodbath, who talked to The Associated Press in the hospital in San Benito.

"I don't know how I survived," Armando Garcia said. He said he lay bound in the grass and pretended he was dead during the late Saturday attack until police arrived early the next morning.

A message written in blood on one of the ranch building's walls said the killers were looking for ranch owner Otto Salguero. Menocal said authorities were trying to find out more about Salguero, whose whereabouts were unknown.

Armando Garcia had worked only a month at the ranch in the rural northern province of Peten, a jungle region that has long been a popular transport route for drugs moving north from South America. Garcia said he didn't know Salguero, but said the ranch produced milk and cheese in the township of La Libertad near the Mexican border.

A large group of armed men showed up late Saturday and rounded up the workers, he said. He was bound like the others and suffered machete wounds.

The killers didn't identify themselves but said they would be back, Garcia said.

President Alvaro Colom arrived in Peten on Monday and planned to tour the massacre site, which is a collection of abandoned-looking buildings and corrals set in a green valley.

Last December, Colom launched a two-month-long military state of siege in neighboring Alta Verapaz province in an attempt to reclaim cities taken over by the Zetas. The gang was founded by ex-soldiers who worked as hit men for Mexico's Gulf drug cartel before breaking off on their own and becoming one of Mexico's most violent organized crime groups.

The Zetas are blamed for two recent mass killings in Mexico: 183 bodies found in mass graves last month and a massacre of 72 migrants last August, both in the state of Tamaulipas bordering Texas.

Police are investigating whether the attack on the ranch is related to the killing Saturday of Haroldo Leon, the brother of alleged Guatemalan drug boss Juan Jose "Juancho" Leon.

The Guatemalan government has a history of committing massacres. I can't say I trust their investigation.

why do people make celebrities out to be more than they really are?

RT

Answer
Because celebrities have publicists. It's their job to market their client as the best thing ever so they can get movie deals, push products, and make people money. The problem is that the general public (and by general I mean morons) start to believe these marketing tactics. The gossip shows, the movie roles, and other things create this fantasy perception that the celebrity is greater than they really are. Even the celebrities start to buy into it and their ego gets bigger and bigger until no one can humble them except a lawsuit or South Park. Classic Capitalism - the more profits you can make people, the more valuable you are. Even if in real life you are a scumbag.

Is the upper east side of manhattan really like what gossip girl (the show) depicts?

pizookie12

i was just wondering if what happens in gossip girl. actually happens in the upper east side.

Answer
Wow, stupid shows like Gossip Girl really get to me, especially when they give non-New Yorkers crazy perceptions about the city.

NO, despite what the CW propaganda's you into believing, the Upper East Side is NOTHING like Gossip Girl.

Though many Upper East-side teens do attend private schools, many of them are not even in NY! If you have any knowledge about the fancy prep schools scattered through-out New England (ie. Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts) , you'd realize that a majority of the students are from NYC. On the weekends, they can take a 2-4 hour train ride to NY. Their parents usually own a house in Connecticut or Rhode Island as well.

BTW, with the rampant gentrification of NYC, if you live on the Lower-West Side (assuming you own the apartment), you're automatically a millionaire.

So when you're on a trip from 'Anywhere USA' to NYC, please don't take the bus up to 5th ave. and 69th st. and assume every teen standing on the sidewalk parties on rooftops with celebrities and cheats on their boyfriend with their parent's hot spanish chauffeur. (But wouldn't that be something? Oh, wait, that's why it's a show)

Celebrities in New York...?!?

figureskat

Hi, I am going to New York next saturday (14th) till the wednesday (18th) and I was wondering if anybody knows if any celebrities are going to be there during that time, like at events or something, or filming on a news show in the morning? If so, where? I also LOVE gossip girl so I was just wondering if anybody knows any set locations or something? I am from England and would love to make the most of my trip :) thanks

Answer
Sure, tons on Broadway.

Will Ferrell, Daniel Radcliffe, Jane Fonda, and more.

You may catch somebody on the street (but don't count on it), but if you do, be a NYer and leave them alone.

MALKIN: People are outraged. They obviously are hating Jason in such a big way.

ANDERSON: We are seeing the hate online and on air. "The View`s" Elisabeth Hasselbeck laughed at him.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK, CO-HOST, "THE VIEW": I really thought he was a good guy. I am done with "The Bachelor."

ANDERSON: Right now, even this Jason is currently more popular than this Jason.

QUARLES: He`s the guy on TV that just seems to have it all, and you think, there really are good men out there. Then he does this, and it`s like, god, thanks, Jason.

ANDERSON: For those of you not familiar with "The Bachelor," allow SHOWBIZ TONIGHT to give you this Cliff Notes-style recap.

what is the latest news about korean singer Se7en?

Green

Is he going to make another drama?

Answer
No drama. He's not even doing activities in Korea right now. He's still working on his American debut right now ever since it was postponed so he's most likely still in the U.S. working on his album and stuff.

His fans are sad right now and all waiting for him to come back and at least show up in variety shows or make a Korean album in the meantime. As far as I know, no dramas for Se7en at the moment. YG wants him to focus on his music career right now. Maybe if it the American thing doesn't work out for him, then maybe he'll try his hand at another drama. Sorry :[

What is the latest on North Korea?

spedrama

I know that people have past away but I am more scared of North Korea threat? What is the new news?

Answer
There has been so little news about anything but Michael Jackson the last few days, I don't know. I think the military is on alert, but are not telling the media everything, because if we hear it in the US, it can be heard in other parts of the world today, including by the leaders of North Korea.

They say they will test fire long range missiles on July 4th. It is doubtful they will get very far and it is very doubtful one of their nukes would be on it. But I'm sure they are being watched every second by our satellites and any other way we have to keep an eye on them. President Obama has been criticized for not talking much about it, but I'm sure he is quietly following any developments there, as in Iran and other places. It is sometimes better for Presidents not to say everything they know.

Where can I find Nijmegen?

Marta A

I've looked through alot of sites on the internet and I can't seem to find an answer. Is Nijmegen in Germany or in the Netherlands?

Answer
Netherlands. A scaleable map for Nijmegan is on here. If you zoom out you'll see it's close to the German border.
http://travel.yahoo.com/p-map-487225-map_of_nijmegen-i . . .
I used to do the Nijmegan Liberation Marches there. Fabulous time and a great place to be.
The British Army and dozens of other military teams, join with civilian teams from around the world in a festival of walking with blister balls in the evenings, jazz bands on nearly every street corner, tremendous support from the local people who set up free drinks stalls outside their homes all over town and round the courses, and make Nijmegan a paradise of international friendship and a huge great block of pure fun from start to finish.
Did a few now, but missed a couple of years for family reasons.
I worked on the British medical team there for two years, treating 150+ blisters a day and numerous tendon, ankle, knee, back, and other injuries, a service provided by the Army free of charge for all comers from any nation, hence we were busy.
Other medical tents treated their own teams or charged a fee.
I have made many friends through being there, and look forward to returning after a break from going because family commitments kept me at home.
Thanks a billion folks, and I'll be seeing you next year.
Canada gets a big input because Princess Juliana of the Netherlands was secreted away to Ottawa to keep her safe in the war, had a baby there, and the hospital room was made Dutch Territory so the child was born Dutch.
The Canadians were also part of the Liberation troops who marched into Nijmegan.
Holland has never forgotten and Canada is a trusted and great friend of Holland to this day.
The Grenadier Guards put in a big team too because they were part of the liberation troops who took Nijmegan from the Germans, as the Canadians were.
Now, German, and even Japanese teams take part and the whole town is a huge party day and night with everybody welcome.
It is now the world's largest walking festival, the world's greatest international party, and a credit to the Netherlands and to Humanity.
It is an absolute joy being there, and if you go as a marcher or a helper the joy is doubled at least.
Being a member of a British Army team on several occasions, both marching and helping with medical services, has been a huge honour and a very rewarding and exhilirating experience.
I now go as a civilian, but will never forget the memorable times I had there as a soldier.

Nijmegan is the oldest city in the Netherlands but transport connections are not great.
The university is very popular and has a good reputation.
http://www.ru.nl/english . . . .
Ryanair do a flight to Dusseldorf-Wheeze, which is actually closer to Nijnmegan than to Dusseldorf, and there is a bus (No.58) from Kleve in Germany.
There are major roads into the town from all directions.

Answer
download torrents........ill list some of the torrent websites
Torrentbox.com FYI: like Isohunt, Torrentbox is being sued by the MPAA as of February 28, 2006. The days for this fine search engine may be numbered.

Demonoid.com is back online! After legal conflicts in April of 2008, they have reestablished themselves outside of the USA. Demonoid is still a private community, and members are held liable for any leeching that their invited friends do in this community. If you are lucky enough to get a Demonoid membership, invite your friends carefully, lest you lose your own membership.

Entertane: An obscure-but-good metasearch engine. Pore through eight other torrent sites quickly by using Entertane.com

BTjunkie

Isohunt.com Currently in a legal dispute with the Canadian Recording Industry Association, Isohunt is a longtime favorite of P2P users. The community at Isohunt also helps police abuse within their network, and reader comments and votes help to identify those torrents which should be avoided.

Flixflux: a United Kingdom torrent site that is very popular with European downloaders

Torrent Root: another metasearch engine, Torrent Root will pore through other search engines on your behalf, and display the results in a slick tabbed interface for your easy browsing. WARNING: the Torrent Root web page has recently been infected by scareware and phishing viruses. The webmasters seem to have purged the infection, but fair warning: with any P2P browsing, protect yourself by installing a reliable antivirus like Avira.

The Pirate Bay
News Flash, April 18, 2009: the Stockholm district court has sentenced the four Pirate Bay founders to a year in prison, and over $USD 3.5 million in fines. This is as punishment for violating their country's copyright laws. More on this shocking court ruling here...

Torrentportal.com

Vertor: this torrent service claims to filter out bad torrents, viruses, DRM locks, passwords, and fakes. Many readers are pleased with Vertor, and thus far their service has been exemplary. Definitely give Vertor a try.

Thunderbytes: As of July 2009, Thunderbytes is a family-friendly site with content that is good for kids and parents.

Sumo Torrent: Like many torrent sites lately, Sumo is powered by adult ads. But several readers have reported that they like the data visibility of the torrent results at Sumo.

YouTorrent.com Still in beta testing format, this new torrent site claims to be the largest legal torrent search engine today. Accordingly, the result sets are much smaller than the "pirate" counterparts, but definitely try this site for yourself.

Torrentscan.com (a "meta-search" engine, which is a search engine that searches other search engines)

H33T: Don't let the plain site design fool you: this newer torrent site has gotten very positive reviews from About.com readers.

Zoozle.org: a competent German search engine for finding specific files, cracks, and serials.

BiteNova (formerly known as âBi-Torrentsâ, BiteNova is a free Torrent site with a spartan look and fast searching format.)

Torrentengine.co.cc:

Torrentreactor.to

TorrentTyphoon.com
