CNN used to just cover stories briefly. Later they spun off HLN, or HeadLine News. HLN is supposed to cover all the top stories every 30 minutes. It only gives you a summary of the events. CNN meanwhile presents more in-depth coverage and discussion of various topics.

Missing Ohio Family -- Very Disturbing...What's the latest news?

Q. I am so tired of hearing about all the sick-o's causing harm to women and children....and this story about the 4 missing Ohio family member (well, one's just a family friend) is very disturbing to me. They found the 13 year old girl alive, bound/gagged in the guys basement.

Any good news if they've found the mom, son, and family friend???? Please I hope so.

Yes I have see that story on the news and on Jane Valez mitchell HLN tv its horrible. I think the three people are dead the girl thank god was saved the guy (creep) that was arrested is refusing to talk , neighbours say he was really weird he use to kill squirrels and eat them, he has a criminal record also he set an apartment bloc on fire and went to jail for that , that poor young girl must have gone threw hell with this psychopath , now she may be able to help police put a good case together against this monster, now we just have to wait till they find the other 3 people and it doesn't look good!

new is important to see what is happening in the world

by not repeating the stories over and over 100 times a day.
HLN news does this the most.

they have about 20 minutes of actual news and repeat the same stories over and over all day long.
i have watched and changed channels and gone back 8 hours later the news stories have changed very little

Why isn't news updated more often? Why the same repeated in the feed? Why same day after day?

In your main feed - the big pic is repeated a page later with a small pic, the same stories are repeated - why can't we have more stories instead of this repeating 2 or 3 or 4 of the same thing???? Why isn't local news updated with breaking news?? Why do the same articles in Sports, Living and Entertainment stay the same for so long?? Why don't the 'headline hints' on the right side change every day?? Exfinity does a lot better job!! You know that every morning all the new is going to be updated. I just changed to ATT and your service is not so good!

June, I believe that you are saying what many are thinking. Why? Not sure that I can answer all your questions, But, The News Media majority have become :"Cowards" in reporting the actual news. HLN News are the worse in repeating, reason being, because most people are inundated with
"Fake" reporting and it boost their Ratings! Exfinity is great in their reporting and Yahoo is to some what, but they too use the same repeating news.
The news media is being controlled by our present Administration in the White House. There is so much happening that so many are not aware of as to what this W.H. is actually doing against this Nation it is scary. Wake-Up people, our Media is controlled, our Constitution and our Bill of rights are in dire straits! Search for information.

The Fox News Channel began in 1996 as an option to other networks (CNN and MSNBC) for news coverage. Fox adopted a slogan of "fair and balanced" in order to separate itself from the liberal-leaning competition. Americans slowly, but steadily, turned to the network for their news. In 2002, Fox surpassed the competition to become the number one cable news network.

That support has not changed since, as Fox News Channel has been the dominant cable news network for close to 140 months. The latest Nielsen ratings for cable news show how much Fox dominates the competition. During the last quarter, the total-day average of viewers for Fox was 1.18 million. The corresponding numbers for CNN (476,000), HLN (393,000), and MSNBC (361,000), were not close to Fox.

So how is Fox able to dominate the competition? There are three main reasons for the dominance and continued success. Those reasons include brand differentiation, strong personalities, and a focus on being fair and balanced.

Fox employed a unique brand differentiation strategy. While CNN and MSNBC were providing news coverage, Fox wanted to provide different approach to the news. President Clinton was in office at the time, and the media was liberal in their voting and reporting. Fox offered an alternative to the liberal media. The network wanted to give viewers a different approach to news coverage that appealed to some Americans.

The network also hired strong and well-educated personalities that would appeal to Americans. Bill OâReilly and Sean Hannity provided conservative commentary in addition to the news. They continue to dominate their respective time slots.

Fox also maintained a focus on being fair and balanced to their reporting of the news. While some argue the network has a conservative bias, Fox has been focused more on news than MSNBC, which offers more commentary. Fox News programs also have counterpoints from individuals with opposing views. This enables viewers to hear arguments for and against the commentary of the host.

I also watch A&E the other day they had a documentry on this subject The serial killer is one Pathetic crazy sob that needs to be caught and put down like the Monster he is, and never walk this earth again and when the day comes that they find this Monster I will feel happy for all these families that have been tortured because of this Monster ,of course being a Monster he would probably love all the attention
