Is it true that Facebook applications are stealing private information from our computers?

Jonathan

I love to play farmville but i read a news article that is now saying Facebook apps like farmville are taking your private information from your computer and showing it to ton's of other sites, company's ect. Is this true? Should I stop playing farmville?

Answer
It's not stealing the information from your actual computer, only the information you provide on Facebook which includes email addresses, personal information, contacts, etc. Below is from PCWorld

"In the latest episode of the gang that couldn't get privacy straight, it was revealed by the Wall Street Journal that many of Facebook's popular applications were unintentionally transmitting the names of the social network's members and, in some cases, their friends' names to dozens of advertising and Internet tracking companies."

Anything like facebook, blogs, webpages that are good to start a drug awareness page?

Mario Cabr

I want to create a webpage, blog, forum something online that would provide an abundant amount of information concerning drugs and substances. I know there are stuff online but what is something that is like as popular as facebook but not as restricted. What i mean restricted is that you can't post like nudity and stuff like that. Inappropriate video ext... I want a page that has no restrictions where anything can be posted. Ofcourse if i find something that is really inappropriate then i'll delete it. I have a lot of information concerning this topic and i would like to share it with the community. Thank you.

would you want to be a celebrity?

angel

Answer
Umm....Maybe.
The good thing about being a celebrity is all the glamour, fans, spa treatment, and all the fame and glory.
The down side is that you would always be stalked! I mean 24/7! Paparazzi and other news and photographers always try to take pics of you and be all in your business. Next thing you know, you'll be on the fron page of the celebrity gossip. Gossip that's NOT TRUE.

how different is the celebrity status from today and the old days?

judes_325

just wondering how we look at celebrities today in comparison to celebrities back in the days like years before the 90's or before the digital age?
it'll be really appreciated if you could give me some evidence in ur answers like websites/articles :)

Answer
Nothing can compare with the 24/7 coverage of stars, or things like TMZ where Paparazzi do nothing but follow stars in and out of cars and clubs, etc.

But looking back, even in the 1920's when movie idol Rudolph Valentino died, thousands tried to attend his funeral. Movie stars like Clark Gable were often pursued by fans.. Marilyn Monroe and others were followed by the tabloids of the time, movie magazines. Elvis, the Beatles, and other stars were constantly surrounded if they went out of their houses or were seen in public. The many marriages of Elizabeth Taylor in the 50's, 60's and 70's were constantly in the gossip pages and magazines. Echoes of when popular singer Eddie Fisher broke up with actress and singer Debbie Reynolds for movie 'goddess' Elizabeth Taylor, in the late 50's could be seen and heard in the break up of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston over Angelina Jolie.

It is nothing new, there are just more outlets today to follow and even harass stars and there seems to be more everyday.

Do Japanese celebrities have gossip like American celebrities?

Shane Ueha

It seems like most of the time you read news or hear any about them is about their works/music/movie or tour or that they got engaged or married. Is there any daily or weekly gossip around them?
Do Japan have any weekly magazines that focus on them?
like "people, us weekly, stars, etc." in America.

Answer
Yeah...the main types of gossip revolve around female celebrities....whether or not they fixed their face....or if they eat enough, lol. Pretty much similar to things you hear over here!

Who is your favorite celebrity?

The E

and why? who is your least favorite celebrity and why??

Answer
MOST FAVE
Male: Morgan Freeman, Eric Bana, Laurence Fishburne
Female: Meryl Streep (best sctor of our time!), Monica Bellucci, Audrey Hepburn, Juliette Binoche, Anne Hathaway
I like them coz they are all great actors yet they are very down-to-earth and low profile. I mean, you hardly ever see them in the tabloids over some shocking scandals, do you? They get the press NOT for their juicy gossips and personal lives (well, except Anne Hathaway, I guess), but for their amazing talent and body of work (again, Anne Hathaway may not be that much of an actress YET, but she's still young and she still has time to improve. At least FOR NOW, I like her coz she's so demure and elegant which is good considering we already have too many skanky whores in Hollywood).

LEAST FAVE
1. The holy grail: Paris Hilton and Britney Spears (no reasons needed)
2. Anyone related to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears: Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Jamie Lynn Spears etc.
3. "Why are they even famous for?": Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and her all slutty sibblings, all the girls from the Hills and (basically) ALL people with no talents who are famous for some cheesy crappy reality shows.
4. Dumb blondes: Paris Hilton (again!), Pamela Anderson, Jessica Simpson, all the Playboy bunnies (sorry, I just can't stand dumb blondes)
5. Anyone from the Disney and Nickelodeon channels lately: JoBros, Miley, Demi, Selena etc (two words: NO TALENTS)
6. Overrated and annoying: Brad Pitt (super overrated! God I'm just so sick of him), Tom Cruise (same reason as Brad Pitt, plus he's a psycho!), George Clooney (sorry, he seems nice but I just find him soooooo.... overrated), J.Lo (she's a triple threat alright: she CAN'T sing, she CAN'T act, and she's a lousy designer - most of her designs from her clothing line are copies of other well-known designers's work), Jessica Alba (sorry I never consider her that pretty nor hot, plus she's a TERRIBLE actress), Beyonce (I started to dislike her eversince she went solo career and tried to crossover to movies. Sorry, B, but you can NOT act), Aishwarya Rai (the most beautiful woman in the world MY @SS!!!)
7. Annoying rappers: Kanye West, 50 Cent (I'm so sick of their c0ckiness), Lil Wayne (just look at all his videos and listen to his lyrics and you know what I mean).

has any1 from america heard of leona louis from the x factor in the uk. simon cowell has said apparanently there is a lot of talk bout her there. is this tru.

plus she is apparentlly appearing on the ellen degenres show.

ps do u think leona looks like a camel head

x factor is the uk equivilant of american idol now that simon cowell refused to do uk pop idol, choosing x factor which he owned the rights to

Answer
I think Simon Cowell might be lying to you. I've never heard of Leona Louis, and I surely would have, as I have no life and spend far too many hours delving into celebrity gossip and entertainment news. Also, it is important that you knwo that hardly anyone watches the Ellen show, as it is on mid-day when only the jobless burnouts, housewives, and old ladies are home. It's a shame, because Ellen is hilarious and should be the most famous talk show host of all, but there you have it, nobody really watches, and most people who appear on her show are C or D list celebrities.

whats the latest news with North Korea?

Fast

Think theyll try something ? they got the capability?
china seems to be worried that NK will do something and i think china just may know something we dont.

Answer
Sounds like they will try to hit Japan (and they will miss) also, they have no way to reach CA, USA.
A war with S. Korea? They just want the Allies.
Edit: Thank Clinton for giving them all of that wheat to keep peace. Right.
Clinton was too smart to know that N. Korea was NO good. I blame him as part of this.

What's the latest news on whats happening with South Korea and North Korea?

Q.

Answer
South Korea cancelled artillery exercizes which were planned months ago. In other words, South Korea has already surrendered. Why? Because they are beginning to comprehend that our president is a feckless, dithering incompetent who has no intention of facing off against China and they must accomadate the real super-power, China.

China is playing its cards brilliantly.

how do media view the Jehovahs witnesses :)?

Francis

and in turn how do the JWs want the media to view them.
They are part of our society --

Answer
Depends on the country.

In Russia they show TV reports that have even people who don't particularly like us laughing at how ridiculous the "investigative journalism" is, and from the comments on the TV station's website, the entire plan backfired. The TV reports even led to my being able to explain our beliefs to someone who was like "Why did they say on TV that you guys sell your magazines and make millions from the sales and that you are supported by the US government? That's a lie!!!"

Back in Zambia, when JWs have a convention (and that's like Friday, Saturday and Sunday for three or four consecutive weeks), every single evening they'd report how many were in attendance, what the theme was, how many were baptised and they ask one of the brothers a few questions, like "What is the JW stance on abortion?" or "What do you believe the Bible says about condom use?"

Remember, every time "Jehovah" is mentioned in the news, it's a reminder to the people out there: There is a God Almighty whose name is Jehovah and you'd better right things with him before it is too late!

Why Are Some People Aganist The Free Market?

Gaberille

Why is the free market system so EVIL?
"no intervention in the economy" - isn't that a good thing?
Thomas D- DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND THE FREE MARKET SYSTEM? OMG THAT IS THE DUMBEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD!! THE FARMERS WOULD NEVER OVERPRODUCE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE INEFFICIENT. PPF CURVE!!

Answer
People against the free market don't understand it.
Here's something from a longer article by John Stossel that shows there is no legit reason to be anti-free market.
I also hope folks note that the US is number 5 and that's fair because we've lost a lot of freedoms in the market.

"For years, Gwartney and Robert Lawson of Capital University have compiled an index showing the solid relationship between economic freedom and economic growth. The latest index, covering 2005, was recently published by the Economic Freedom Network, which comprises more than 70 policy institutes worldwide, from Albania to Zambia.

The story the index tells couldn't be clearer: Economic freedom produces high living standards.

This insight shouldn't come as news, but unfortunately it will because prejudice against the profit motive and property rights leads many to believe that government coercion is better than free markets at making life better.

What is economic freedom exactly? As the report puts it, "individuals have economic freedom when ⦠they are free to use, exchange, or give their property as long as their actions do not violate the identical rights of others."

The researchers ranked countries according to five criteria: size of government, security of property, access to sound money, freedom to trade internationally and level of regulation.

The top five freest countries in 2005 were Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Switzerland and the United States. That's a slight slip for the United States, which in 2004 came in third. We've never placed higher than second (in 2000)."

Why do celebrities get off so easily?

shiamsleep

Why are celebrities who are known to have broken the law never arrested or punished for their crimes. It only happens rarely like cases such as Lynsey Lohan, but people like Whitney Houston, who owed drug dealers tons of money, are never arrested, even though everyone knows they're breaking the law. Why is that? Because people just love them so much they consider them above the law?

Sorry for not providing more specific examples, I don't follow celebrities or their gossip.

Answer
Celebrities are not immune when they break the law. Here are two instances involving Hugh Grant and Winona Ryder:

On June 27, 1995, Hugh Grant was arrested in an Los Angeles Vice police operation not far from Sunset Boulevard for misdemeanour lewd conduct in a public place with Hollywood prostitute Divine Brown. He pleaded no contest and was fined $1,180, placed on two years' summary probation, and was ordered to complete an AIDS education program.

On December 12, 2001, Ryder was arrested on shoplifting charges in Beverly Hills, California. She was accused of stealing $5,500 worth of designer clothes and accessories at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store.

Where catholic bishops extra picky when picking the new pope, to make sure there would be no child abuse issue?

brb

sorry you're right, i mean cardinals.

Answer
According to John Allen:

----------------

Ratzinger's transformation can also be glimpsed from an exchange with Cardinal Francis George of Chicago, which George described in April 2005, just after the conclave which propelled Benedict XVI to the papacy.

Two days before the opening of the conclave, George met Ratzinger in his Vatican office to discuss the American sex abuse norms, including the "one strike and you're out" policy. Those norms had been approved grudgingly in late 2002 by the Vatican, and only for a five-year period. George said he wanted to discuss with Ratzinger the arguments for making the norms permanent. Ratzinger, according to George, showed "a good grasp of the situation."

Forty-eight hours later, Ratzinger was the new pope. As is the custom, the cardinals gathered in the Sistine Chapel made their way, one-by-one, to the new pontiff in order to pledge their support and obedience. As George kissed his hand, Benedict XVI made a point of telling him, in English, that he remembered the conversation the two men had about the sexual abuse norms, and would attend to it.

The new pope's first words to a senior American prelate, in other words, were a vow of action on the crisis.

How and why was Thomas More executed and how did he support the catholic church?

MIKE'S PAP

I need to write an op/ed page for an appeal of the Execution of Thomas More. So, I need information to write about. I am writing it based on the catholic chronicle news paper, so Thomas More must support the church.

Answer
16th Century dawns. The Catholic Church is unsurpassed in popularity in England. Modern historians have databased records showing there was a never-decreasing flow of tithing, property and devotion by the consent of the common man in England to their beloved Catholic Church. Beautiful chapels were built, adorned with magnificent finery, art and books. The Bible, in a form known as Books of Hours, was the most popular thing in print. Earlier, St. Catherine of Sienna initiated reform ideas after she conversed with God. Her book is The Dialogue. She warned of many of the things that were starting to occur in Europe, where priests used clericalism to escape responsibility. The Church was just developing Canon Law (jurisprudence invented in the 12th Century), there were no seminaries to train priests, and Church government was occupied with: Renaissance, building Vatican City, discovery of America, infighting in the Papal States and powerful city-states of Italy (Florence, Rome, Venice). Thousands of reformers within Catholicism worked towards change.

The world was brutal and militaristic. France had the largest army, but no power. Spain had all the power, but was spread out over the globe. Italy was embroiled with infighting, but the Medici family invented a new financial system to support critical shipping industry. And the common man in the Holy Roman Empire was fed up with being ignored by the pope as German princes connived with the French to wrest power from the Empire, Spain and Italy.

Henry VIII took Pope Leo X's side against Martin Luther in 1521. Leo named him Defender of the Faith. Henry and Charles V, the Spanish-Austrian golden boy who'd been elected by Henry and others as Holy Roman Emporer, kind of saw eye to eye. Both were devout Catholics, young, good looking, and capable sporting men and fighters. Henry refused to go against Charles V with Francis I of France and the German princes. So he was in Leo X's graces. He appointed the brilliant humanist Thomas More, friend of Luther's adversary Erasmus, to be high chancellor. Henry had issues, just like Luther. But Henry was a king. He didn't turn to printing propoganda, like Luther and the German princes trying to destabilize Europe so they could take land by force. Princes wanted the tithing from agricultural peasants, and the peasants just wanted a better life than the Plague that wiped out most of Europe within memory of their grandparents.

Henry went nuts. He rationalized religion to make it OK to divorce. He started killing his wives. More, the man who coined the word Utopia in the eponymous book of that name, was appalled. More stood firm with his Catholic faith against Henry. In 1532 he resigned his post. In 1533 Henry married Anne Boleyn and a new pope, Clement XII, excommunicates him. Heresy was a crime against God AND state. Henry had no choice. He took over the Church in England so that he couldn't be considered a criminal by his subjects. Swooft move (evil, but swooft). He appoints a new Archbishop of Canterbury and announces himself as the pope. He never explained this in theological terms. It was purely secular. Devout Catholics knew they had to be obedient to the king. So Henry VIII instantly had control over what Catholicism had built in England over 1500 years. In later years over in Europe, his buddy Emporer Charles V would renounce his nobility, take a vow of poverty and devotion to Christ, and live out his life as a poor monk in Spain.

Henry chopped the heads off his wives. He went through six of them. He chopped off Thomas More's head, too, because More wouldn't take an oath against the papacy (Henry, Defender of the Faith....). Basically, the man was a psychopath. Imagine Osama Bin Laden in Germany (Luther) and Charles Manson running England (Henry). That's what you had. Then you had the Ayotollah John Calvin in Geneva, Switzerland, who took Muslim ideas of idol worship, blended them brilliantly in writing with the words of St. Augustine and Thomas Aquinas, and made the dish palatable to civic leaders, who had an anti-clerical, anti-papal bend to them anyway. Instant secular religion. Just add water (the Atlantic). And voila! Here we are.

Oh by the way. Catholicism never stopped growing. Most Lutherans recanted within a generation. France never had more than 10 percent Calvinists. The Church finally developed seminaries to get rid of drunken loser priests, championed New World missions, took the Gospel to Planet E, and today is the largest force for good on earth. Protestantism has subdivided continually into more than 26,000 different denominations, most of the mainline ones resembling the very medieval Catholic forms of worship that the original movement opposed. Go figure.

What happened to Yahoo!'s "Advanced News Search" ?

toreadorab

For ages I've been using Yahoo!'s "Advanced News Search" daily to scan international newspapers and wire services for information on topics I'm researching. Yesterday, the links to the Advanced News Search page disappeared from Yahoo!, as far as I can tell. The Advanced Web Search tool is still available, but for the life of me I can't find the Advanced News Search.
Was this service discontinued? If not, can anyone point me to where it is now?

Answer
It seems Yahoo "upgraded" it's search bar feature.
Here is an article dated April 1, 2010:
"We are unveiling a new look for Yahoo! Sports Search and News Search today, featuring a new layout, handy new filtering tools, related search suggestions and rich results that help you find what youâre looking for quickly and seamlessly."
http://www.ysearchblog.com/

Also from same page:
New look for Yahoo! News Search Result Page

"Many of the new features you see on the new Yahoo! Sports search results page are also now available on the revamped Yahoo! News search results page."

The article suggest going to this page, which is the generic Yahoo Search page, click NEWS:
http://news.search.yahoo.com/

more:
"On the left column, youâll see that we introduced a tool to filter your searches by popular news sources. This new filter is easy to use and lets you see only stories from specific news sources.

You can also use the Filter by Time tool on the left column to narrow the search results by time and see stories published within the last hour, day, or week. Choose âPast Dayâ in the news search result page for the query âobama,â youâll see only results published within the last day. The document count next to the news sources on the left column will update to reflect the number of results published within the last day. Of course, our rich results for news images and news videos are also updated with the past dayâs results."

The bottom line, is Yahoo has tried to "improve" their search (probably a Bing thing) and wants their search engine to do it for you.

I might suggest using the old manual way. Here is a link to Yahoo's Search Assist:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/search/basics/basics-27.html

Hope this helps.

What are a few of the most POPULAR internet sites today?

Erica

list the ones everybody's talking about...thanks so much!

Answer
well let's see. you've got Myspace and Tagworld for all the teenie boppers and early 20 year olds. well, pretty much everyone is on myspace. it's pretty cool, and I'm sure you have a myspace. searching for anyone you've ever known is quite fun.

www.ebay.com is a fun website for selling, trading and buying things. you can find ANYTHING on here, you could even buy a fish skeleton or a piece of toast (as well as a car or kitchen cookware set) on ebay. all you have to do is find it. I think i'll sell some things on e-bay this summer.yay for making money!

Google is the BEST search engine website, you can search for anything and find a valid answer to any question you have, can research lots of info, essentially you can find anything you want on google.

Neopets.com is a fun virtual pets site, and you would be surprised how many ADULTS are on neopets. my little sister loves neopets and all of her friends find it wonderful. (she's 12.) Neopets has a lot of fun games to play and some other cool stuff about it to, so if you're bored and have a few hours to kill, www.neopets.com is a GREAT place to waste time hehe.

coolbroadbands (you can search it on google!) is a site where you can find all sorts of broadband videos to watch, pretty much on any subject you look for. along those lines, there's another site called youtube.com that has videos of all kinds (music videos, comedy/humorous videos, etc.) that are submitted by the viewers of the site. Anyone can submit videos, and you can see what the people of america are up to. don't be surprised if you find something stupid to watch.

then you have your typical news websites that update information and world happenings, like Yahoo! and MSN.com. if you like keeping up-to-date on current news stories, check out msn.com and read some articles.

If you have a mac or just want to check out a pretty neat website, go to apple.com and they have lots of stuff to read and watch. they have quicktime movie trailers of almost every movie coming out in the near future, so if you want to see what's playing WAY ahead of time, check that out.

teagames.com has some cool online games to play too.

some of the most popular things being searched for on the web these days are the NFL draft, Cinco de Mayo, illegal immigration practices, David Beckham, Ana Nicole Smith, NASCAR, and the Darfur region of Sudan. go to google and search for any of these topics, and you'll probably come up with a preeeeettttty popular website :)

needless to say, porn is always popular, so you have a huge number of porn website on the net. great huh.

good luck, I bet this was for a homework assignment, huh hahah. if not, have fun with it anyway!

kings get what they want. williams, udonis, and a back center for miller. with bibby gone martin can have a break out season.

Lakers get some help. we get defensive specialist in ak47. we get range from garcia and some help on the block.

Miami wins big. they get bibby. a pg that is dying to win. playing with wade and shaq can help him do that. they get a sf in harpring. and they unloaded atoine walkers weak ass.

jazz gets to rebuild. if they play smart next year they can have tons of money since kwame contract is expiring. that means that jazz will have so much cap space to sign free agents like okafor. they also get bunch of shooters.

Answer
wow im impressed by this trade. i mean rumors holds these trades but ain't happening yet. The latest news for miami is another run for bibby. Ak47 wants to be traded or go home to russia, but didn't expect any1 to do this in the trade machine.

overview:

Sacramento: isn't that good but the lose of bibby will definitely boost more scoring for martin.

Miller
Haslem
Artest
Martin
Williams

Pretty good looking for them especially this is the last season on j-wills contract.

Utah- Gets a pretty good salary cap next season of 10 mil. for the exchange for AK and harpring

Boozer
Okur
Walker
Giricek
D. Williams

Lakers: A win-win for them. they give no one for someone.

Mihm
Odom
Kirilenko
Kobe
Fisher

And there wish of bynum to stay for them came through!

Miami: Im a fan so its better now than nothing.

Shaq
?
Harpring
Wade
Bibby

There only problem is to replace their PF.

Why are so many lobbyists & Ad Exec's with ties to FOX News & the GOP being found dead this year?

Q. This is the latest in a long line of them : http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/02/28/body-missing-south-carolina-lobbyist-found-inside-parking-garage-police-say/
This is the 5th supposed suicide as well as 3 "Freak Accidents" (such as the elevator that had been inspected the week before that cut the New York Ad Exec in half) and the 8 fatal auto accidents that have happened to Lobbyists and Ad Exec's who happened to work with either the GOP or FOX News. And these are just the ones that made the news.

Answer
I have absolutely zero proof or documents or inside information to offer the whole answer BUT here's my theory that applies to some piece of the puzzle...Rupert Murdoch's News Corp is an electronic media mafia and really a front organization for their secret political support service. Fronting as a global communications mega-corp it's really a private CIA, a commercial intelligence gathering and strategic adviser to oil-rich dictator states whose governments and politicians recognized money laundering services, conservative network opportunities and the opportunities to capitalize / invest into the neo-con military-industrial-political-banking matrix.
These dead former Murdoch Agents understood the career risks involved included being part of the collateral damage when the project objectives fail and loose ends finalized.

Primetime show, Cane??

1perfectro

I'm a big fan of the primetime tv show, Cane. I'm anxiously awaiting the return of the show. Does anyone have any news or knows if/when the show will return? Thanx!!

Answer
I don't know if it is "official" official, but pretty much Cane is canceled.
http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2008-02-10-show-return-side_N.htm

It is still on the futon critic's "hiatus" list rather than "canceled" list, so there is still a little hope, I suppose.
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/showatch.aspx?series=&network=&daycode=&statuscode=2&genre=&studio=

If by some miracle it does return, it won't be back until Fall, or more likely mid-season. The latest that news will be known is at CBS's Upfronts in May, when they announce their schedules to advertisers and critics.

What communication techniques were popular in the 90s ?

Q. Hey yahoo people, i have a question that has now taken me two weeks to answer. This is my question for a project due very soon and i have no idea. I tried looking on Google but i couldn't find anything useful. Can someone please please please help me and tell me which communication techniques were popular in the 1990s and how it differed from the 80s . By communication techniques,i mean a way people got in touch with each other, These days, we use cellphones and facebook..etc, but what were the communication techniques back in the 1990s ??? and how were the techniques different from the techniques of the 1980s ?? PLEASE HELLPP , PLZZ !! THANK U THANK U !!! =] =] =] =] =]
thanks for all the answers, really =] wudnt mind more..haha

Answer
There were social groups, just really primative compared to Facebook, etc.
They called 'em 'newsgroups' & forums. Of course, that's assuming you had a computer.
I still remember seeing the Internet for the 1st time in college, in 1990. The 54K Modem unleashed all its pings & screeches and relayed...the weather in Lawrence, Kansas!
Yay Prodigy!!

Anyway, phones were around, as was actual writing (long before we had text script).
The 80s were all about using snail mail & word of mouth.
A 'chat room' was physical. As in you literally had a room full of people who liked the same thing. The only way to communicate was via phone, snail mail, or in person.
There were cell phones, btw, in the 80s. They were just the size of a brick and looked more like a WW2 walkie talkie!

New Fish List!!!! (75 gallon tank) (Read it well please)?

Zim

These fishes in the FIRST list are candidates for my new aquarium.

1 Bristle nose Pleco
6 Corydoras sterbai
1 Siamese Algae eater
3 Pearl gouramis
6 Boesemani Rainbowfish
1 Butterfly pleco (this is not the hillstream loach...)

THE TENTATIVE LIST (BELOW)
(I'm thinking of adding SOME fish from the list below to the list above but not all of them!)

These are the types of inverts and fishes below (including your advice). PLEASE evaluate them. Remove anything that you think is best (if it is overcrowding etc.) or some behavioral and compatibility issues.

THE TEMPORARY LIST:

1 fresh water clam,
1 Pomacea Bridgesii
1 Filter feader Fan Shrimp
5 denison barbs
6 Harlequin rasboras (TO CYCLE MY TANK. IS THIS OKAY?)
4 swordtails
OTHERS -- (YOUR SUGGESTION OFCOURSE!)

Which of these fishes/inverts in the temporary list are the best to be added or should not to add to my current candidates in the list at the very top and why?

ESPECIALLY, will most of them be existing together? I mean will the other fishes eat the inverts or vice versa?

What do you think? PUT DETAILED ANSWERS PLEASE!!

Please add your suggested inverts or fishes that are peaceful and easy to take care of and state HOW MANYshould I buy. And please rewrite your list containing the fish you suggested.

And one more thing, if you would like to rearange or jumble all of the list (top and lower list) the way you suggest, please do list them down and put how many. Feel free to mix them all up.

I recently removed some of my inverts in my list because of the suggestions to the recent answers. I just want to have different types of living things in my aquarium not just fish and plants, but also inverts as well.

If you have any other advice or useful info to add in fish or other things, please do type it down. I will really appreciate all of the information
that you will give me.

Thank you!

Answer
sorry for the delay.

Stocking a tank can be done in many ways......I found patients to be the best way.

Enjoy your tank the best you know how, these are just a few suggestions..thats all

If I started another 75 gallon with no specific plan it would take me well over a year to stock as fish are seasonal so stocking a tank all at once can restrict you.

you stock your tank all at once and then you see fish that wow you 5 months later and you have no room as you settled for something early.

You could set up an unreal cichlid tank.......these fish have tons and tons of personality, you get to see natural really working as hierachies are built.

You could set up a predator tank like pike heads, chomp chomp

You could set up a discus tank.

Or a discus combo as they like quiet tanks so 3 or 4 awesome discus fish (get to be dinner plate size)and a school of 50 rummy nosed tetras and 5 or 6 torpedo barbs and wow, nice tank.

There is so much out there, so to stock a tank to limits right away i find a shame and actually quite dangerous if you know how cycling works.

You were going to cycle with 5 harlequins...ok so you put them in and in 2-3 weeks (use seachem stability or seed from another tank to help jump start, or both)) your tank is cycled. Yes but to only 5 harlequins.

Bacteria population will grow to feed off of 5 fish. you add 10 more fish...everyone dies..why, you shocked the tank as the bacteria pop can only accomadate 5 fish, sure it will grow for 15 but not in time.

Add fish slowly not all at once......a couple a week tops. The more fish in the tank the bigger the bacteria popluation and the faster it can accomadate new fish.

You put that list in at once the next few days will be the worst of your fish hobby life as everyone starts croaking. So be very careful here and understand how the bacteria colony works.

When it comes to stocking the tank you can't do it wrong if its the fish you like. But heres an example.

You buy the bristle nose pleco..he's nice, eveyone has one then you go into the pet store 2 months later and the guy is all exicited as his once a year royal pleco's are coming in?

Royal pleco...wow

http://www.discusaquarium.nl/images/041203-brutusmax.jpg

You get your leopard cories (very nice!!) but then green and orange laser cories come in...wow,

I have these...I went in, the guy said look at these crazy guys....

Pseudomugil furcatus....

fork tailed rainbow fish..they are so cool and there eyes light up electric blue from across the room!!!

http://lh5.ggpht.com/MadamMatrix/R5ELyFJnTVI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/a4Jz-uT4WX8/IMG_9410_thumb3

If i stocked my tank all at once...and couldn't get these i would have been sad.

People look at my tanks and go wow..they think i know every cool fish out there but really i was just patient.

I ask fish store managers all the time, whats cool coming in. There is always something.

So every couple weeks something cool comes in and you have room for it and its compatable with current stocking. No stupid swordtails, no stupid leopard danois or harlequins, (yes i hate them 2.) no stupid neons, no stupid mollies etc...

Find the right fish store first then stock.

Wrestling halfbeaks come in, then Orange australe killiefish, threadfin rainbows..etc...

theres no point i can go on...

LOOK AT ALL THESE FISH!!!!!

http://www.cichlideviden.dk/fisk/index.php?pic=1'

You do what makes you happy but stocking a tank based on what you see currently at a really good fish store I think is a mistake.

Good news is, if you like it then it was the right choice just don;t limit yourself.

Make sure you research everyfish before buying....see it in the store, run home and research..don't listen entirely to the pet store guy trying to get the fish out of the store. One wrong fish like a red tailed shark and your done. siasmese algae eaters can be insanley mean too, pointless fish.

the fresh water clams are cool but often slowly starve in a tank as they eat micro algae and in nature to the point that they love to be in green water. But there cool they have a leg. bury him halfway feeding hole up.
or leave him on the surface, next moring he'll be dug in..funny stuff.

I hate snails.....the apple is ok but he can get softball size so be prepared.

Pearl gouramies like blues can be very mean aswell....beware

One pleco per tank is the best option aswell..2 will limit stocking due to huge bio-loads..

Fan shrimp rock....

You can tell Marcus and I have been down the same path.

I had a 46 bow up and running empty over a month until i found my first fish.

Congrats on such a nice tank..75 gallons is sweet enjoy!!!!

Tell me about Dunedin, please?

Chels

My husband, daughter, and I plan to move to NZ. Reading YA I stumbled upon a glowing report on Dunedin. :)

My husband is an electrician and has been filling out an Expression of Interest to move to NZ as a Skilled Migrant. I hear tell that Dunedin is growing, so that's promising.

We love the outdoors so suggestions on places to visit with our baby daughter and our 2 dogs (Labs) would be great.

I know Dunedin's a university town...do you ever have problems with unruly students?

Seeing as we have a growing family and dogs are there any areas of town (or outside town) you suggest living?

Rumour is that the weather there isn't that great. Compared to where I live in Wyoming USA it's probably wonderful though....how often do you get snow and how long does it usually stay? What about rain? (we've had several feet of snow since September...it's finally melting. But now we've had rain almost non-stop for the past 3 weeks. LOL)
Dunedin had my vote at the mention of a world class chocolate factory:P But we also heard that it was settled by Scottish immigrants and is therefore big on bagpipes and haggis during the holidays. Yay! We both play the bagpipes (self taught by several DVDs) Do you know of anywhere we could go to get professional lessons?
my father-in-law is trying to talk us out of moving because of sharks and poisonous creatures. Do you have many shark problems? I know there are no snakes in NZ.

What other animals and bugs in NZ could be dangerous to people?

Answer
Dunedin is a wonderful city, i hope you get a chance to move there :-).
loving the outdoors, you won't be at a shortage of places to go with your dogs and daughter, there are many lovely beaches in Dunedin within 5-10 minutes drive of the city centre. Also the Dunedin peninsula is just magnificent, you can drive out to tairoa head where there is an Albatross colony and your also certain to see seals basking in the sun on the rocks below. I've never lived in Dunedin myself but both my parents grew up there and most of my extended family still lives there. I've always felt it has a nice charachter about it, its very hilly too which provides spelndid views of the city and harbour.
As for the weather, well yes its not renowned for having the greatest climate in NZ (or even close). I live in Christchurch and from what i understand we have hotter summers, but colder winters (its 4.5 hours north of Dunedin). it is not "common" for it to snow in Dunedin city, except for up high on the hills, but it does happen. there was snow around most of the south island winter 2006 but I think both Christchurch and Dunedin escaped any snow last year. Its definetly more of a rarity - but thats not to say that overnight temperatures don't drop below 0 degrees celsius sometimes.
Great news is that it hardly ever rains in Dunedin! the city recieves less than 800mm of rainfall a year. check out this article
http://www.cityofdunedin.com/city/?page=life_climate
and this is a good link too http://www.otago-peninsula.co.nz/NewZealand/html/dunedin.html
also for a better idea of NZ's climate overall see this link
http://www.tourism.net.nz/new-zealand/about-new-zealand/weather-and-climate.html

with regard to students well for starters they are only there (well most of them) for 8 months of the year (late feb/beginning of march - late October/beginning of November) so around Christmas time and summer, not many students will even be in Dunedin at the best time of the year! having said that, yes students have made headlines from time to time for engaging in unruly behaviour, but the area where all the students flat, is just that, a students flatting area so you'd be able to find a ncie house in an area away from all that
check out http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Property/RegionListings.aspx?search=1&mcat=0350-5748-&sidebar=1&132=PROPERTY&selected135=&selected136=&134=10&135=71&29=&122=&122=&49=&49=&sort_order=prop_default&v=gallery
for dunedin property listings to get an idea of prices.

and the best part of all is there are no poisonous creatures of any form in New Zealand!! no snakes, lizards or anything. and as for sharks, i don't think theres ever been a shark attack in NZ so they aren't a worry either.
Good luck :-)

Ugh! Can someone PLEASE help? What with all the murders and assaults by white men as of late, I'm terrified!?

Equal righ

So I'm sure if you haven't been living under a rock, you've heard of the mass murdering committed by James Holmes, a white male, in Colorado who pulled out a gun and just started firing off all around him at anyone and everyone in sight like a crazy person before tear gassing the place to make sure any survivors were either seriously injured or dead. This left numerous people dead, CHILDREN INCLUDED. Children blown up into smitherines. Icing on the cake, Holmes had booby trapped his apartment so the entire place would explode upon someone simply entering. Mind you, some of the victims were black.

In the midst of that whole incident, it was announced on MY NEWS, that two white males ambushed and assaulted a black male waiting at the bus stop the other night. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Three-white-men-sentenced-to-prison-for-beating-3728400.php

Look I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I'm fricken afraid of white males now. They pass themselves off as this harmless, innocent race/gender group to everyone else by nagging and racially slurring and bashing other races so the attention is taken off them, and as soon as you take attention off them soon enough, you hear about a bunch of people in a college class room or some other public place getting all their throats slit. Just like James Holmes with no previous signs of criminal behavior and well off upper middle-class background, no struggling or living in the ghetto. GUYS, I'M SCARED. SERIOUSLY BECAUSE I LIVE AROUND THEM IN THE SUBURBS! :(

Answer
Okay, but how do you explain this?

Thumbs downing me because you can't handle the truth? Shame.

Do you think it's right that so many kids are on drugs which permanently alter their development?

AND WHEN I SAY DRUGS,
I MEAN THE LEGAL RX DRUGS.

Personally, I think 'just say no' shouldn't be such a double standard.
Drugs are drugs. That's a fact jack.

Answer
Eighteen year old Eric Harris, who with his friend Dylan Klebold, 17, massacred their classmates and a teacher at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado on April 20, 1999 had been taking Luvox. T. J. Solomon, 15, who shot and wounded six fellow students at Heritage High School in Conyers, Georgia on May 20, 1999 was on Ritalin. Fifteen year old Shawn Cooper, who fired two shotgun rounds, narrowly missing classmates at his high school in Notus, Idaho was on Ritalin. Fifteen year old Kip Kinkell who first murdered his parents and later killed two students and wounded 22 more in his Oregon school's cafeteria was on Ritalin and Prozac. I'm not surprised these facts never made the news!

Putting kids on drugs is one of the most heinous manipulations by the pharmaceutical industry this decade! Did you know that there isn't really a way to test for ADD or ADHD? What most parents don't seem to realize is that Ritalin is a narcotic, a potentially addictive one at that. The practice has reached virtual epidemic proportions with an estimated 5 million children being subjected to drugs such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) and amphetamines (Dexedrine, Adderall).

The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Third Revised Edition published by the American Psychiatric Association, originally warned of the dangers of administering Ritalin to children - but that this information mysteriously disappeared from the most recent edition, thus supporting suspicions that the industry is engaged in a cover-up.

Ritalin and other such stimulants suppress growth of all organs of the body by disrupting growth-hormone cycles - an effect that is likely to have long-lasting detrimental effects to the health of the child. Animal studies show that amphetamines such as Adderall and Dexedrine cause brain-cell death - and that Ritalin causes permanent brain dysfunction if administered at regular clinical doses. Some children develop tics - which in some cases become permanent. Some children develop severe mental disorders such as depression and obsessive-compulsive disorders - as well as manic and schizophrenic-like behavior. As if this weren't bad enough, Ritalin, Adderall, and all such stimulants cause cardiovascular problems by disrupting the rhythm of the heart, and on occasion can (and have) lead to cardiac arrest.

Lol welcome back =D

Well Laurita basically covered everything ^^ so I'll fill you in on the gossip news stuff~

First Xiah Junsu said some stuff on twitter to Yunho and well..
here's the article: http://www.allkpop.com/2011/01/xiah-junsus-ambiguous-tweets-to-tvxqs-yunho-concerns-fans
So now fans are all fired up about it, and also SM artists. BoA, Jungmo (TRAX), Sungmin and Shindong (SuJu) also tweeted in defense for Yunho and Changmin. Anyways, no one's really happy with it. Hopefully it won't be the end of DBSK.

Also in twittery news, there was a rumor that Jaekyung (Rainbow) and ..I'm a little confused here but it was either Yoseob or Junhyung who will be casted with her in WGM (We Got Married). One allkpop article said it was Yoseob and the other said it was Junhyung so I'm not too sure. But yeah some B2UTIES weren't so happy about it and started attacking Jaekyung on twitter, so Yoseob tweeted that he was really disappointed with them. But then later the rest of the B2UTIES apologized on behalf of their members and so yeah everything was resolved ;P And somehow even SHINee and Shawols got involved o__O; I'm a bit lost with how they even got related in this situation though =/

The new show We Are Dating with U-Kiss and Girls Day suddenly got cancelled (it was supposed to be a spin-off of We Got Married).

There were a couple new debuts, (girl groups) Dal Shabet debuted with Supa Dupa Diva (umm yeah, the title just speaks for itself -__-;)
And another group called Piggy Dolls.
Then there is this other debut called Girl Story and their average age is 9.75 >__0; yeah.. it's pretty crazy now..

GD & TOP's song Knockout got banned on all the music programs -___-; cuz supposedly the lyrics were not good for younger audiences. And they went on a guerrila date with fans lol. They also won a couple awards (most recently a Mutizen on Inkigayo). Seungri's solo comeback is scheduled for the 13th (this month). **edit** Never mind..it was just announced Seungri's comeback will be on the 20th ;P

Infinite's BTD (Before the Dawn) MV got a mature rating in Korea (which sucks, I loved the MV).

Beast will have a Japanese debut soon sometime this year. G.NA will have a comeback with another full album soon.

Kahi (After School) is preparing for her solo debut.

Amber finally returned to Korea and is now back with f(x). They're probably preparing for their next comeback now.

A lot of Kpop groups like Beast, some members of SNSD, Super Junior, etc. also attended SHINee's concert, SHINee World. And Lucifer was plagiarized by a Serbian singer o__O; No updates on what's happening yet but here's the article: http://www.allkpop.com/2011/01/shinees-lucifer-plagiarized-by-a-serbian-singer

F.Cuz followed up on their comeback with Wanna Be Your Love/Friend's Graduation. And Yejun got diagnosed with shingles (a severe skin rash) =(

Those are some of the random news that happened. I couldn't cover everything xP

Girl Relationship Worthy?

Q. About myself = I am 22, almost done my bachelors degree, have 2 jobs, and volunteer. I don't do drugs, don't drink often (social drinker).. I am a nice guy, atheletic, etc

I met this asian girl recently and we have been talking a lot. Like 3-4 hours each day through tx msgs, msn conversations, and a bit but not a whole lot on the phone.

Anyways from talking to her she has a lot of baggage.
Ex:
1) She has slept around (bugs me the most)
2) Has a lot of ex-boyfriends, A LOT
3) She dislikes school, does not plan on getting any post secondary education (also graduated high school 2 years late)
4) She drinks a lot when goes out to parties (this is common I find among party girls)
5) She clubs a lot on weekends and blows her money away
6) She works at a grocery store and a candy shop = 2 jobs i don't find that will support her for a long time as she gets little hours
7) She has a bad family history = parents divorced, bad relationship with brother, sister
8) She was an emo in high school, doens't handle emotions very well
9) Doesn't have a lot of friends, = no close friends, not even best friend , so like a loner

Alright, so I am falling for this girl and I have no clue why. She seems like a really nice girl but I cannot seem to get past her troubles (all listed above). I think one of the reasons is that I haven't had a gf for a long time and I miss the whole gf/bf thing and just feel a bit lonely. My friend also knows this girl because his friend dated her and he said she was bad news. He advise me to stay away from dating her or getting into a relationship. I am getting a lot of attention from this girl and I like it. But all i want to know is, is it really wise to get into a relationship with this girl? Is she worth my time, money, feelings? I know it might sound like a dumb question because I have kinda already answered it but I seem to not understand it. I like her and hate her. I am just confused. Is it okay to be just friends? cause i don't want one thing to lead to another?

Thoughts? Thanks

Answer
Like you said, I think you are just falling for this girl because you haven't been in that kind of relationship in a while. Or maybe, considering the fact that you have a good life going for you, you like how she is "dangerous" and you get a thrill out of breaking the rules or something. But before you dive head-first into this (very shallow) pool, you might want to consider what your friend told you too. Friends are there for a reason. I think you should try to avoid any personal relationship with this girl and look for someone who is better for you. Good luck!
