What are the parts of news paper?

Manilyn

Answer
Our first answerer is a wannabe comedian and shouldn't give up his daytime job.

A newspaper consists of the following parts:

1. Front Page:
the first page of a newspaper includes the title, all the publication information, the index, and the main stories that will capture the most attention. The major story of the day will be placed in the most prominent position and contain a large, bold-faced headline. The topic could be of a national scope or it could be a local story.

2. Folio:
The folio includes the publication information and is often located under the name of the paper. This information includes the date, volume number, and price.

3. News Article
A news article is a report on an event that has taken place. Articles may include a byline, body text, photo, and caption. Typically, newspaper articles that appear closest to the front page or within the first section are those that editors consider to be the most important and relevant to their readers.

4; Feature Articles
Feature articles report about an issue, person, event with added depth and more background details.

5. Byline
A byline appears at the beginning of an article and gives the writer's name.

6. Editor
An editor decides what news will be included in each paper and determines where it will appear according to relevance or popularity. The editorial staff determines content policy and creates a collective voice or view.

7. Editorials
An editorial is an article written by the editorial staff from a specific perspective. The editorial will offer the newspaper's view of an issue. Editorials should not be used as a main source of a research paper, because they are not objective reports.

8. Editorial cartoons
Editorial cartoons have a long and fascinating history. They offer an opinion and convey a message about an important issue in an amusing, entertaining, or poignant visual depiction.

9. Letters to the Editor
These are letters sent from readers to a newspaper, usually in response to an article. They often include strong opinions about something the newspaper has published. Letters to the editor should not be used as objective sources for a research paper, but they could prove valuable as quotes to demonstrate a point of view.

10. International News
This section contains news about other countries. It may address relationships between two or more countries, political news, information about wars, droughts, disasters, or other events that impact the world in some way.

11. Advertisements
Obviously, an advertisement is a section that is purchased and designed for selling a product or idea. Some advertisements are obvious, but some can be mistaken for articles. All advertisements should be labeled, although that label might appear in small print.

12. Business Section
This section contains business profiles and news reports about the state of commerce. You can often find reports about new inventions, innovation, and advances in technology. Stock reports appear in the business section. This section could be a good resource for a research assignment. It will include statistics and profiles of people who have made an impact on the economy.

13. Entertainment or Lifestyle
The section names and traits will differ from paper to paper, but lifestyle sections typically offer interviews of popular people, interesting people, and people who make a difference in their communities. Other information concerns health, beauty, religion, hobbies, books, and authors.

Hope this helps.

African imperialism in the novel All Things Fall Apart?

Rebecca

Answer
When Chinua Achebe showed the horrors of colonial rule in 'Things Fall Apart,' the narrative easily became the African story that impinged itself on our consciousness. The novel epitomized the case against imperialism

The death of the renowned Nigerian writer, Chinua Achebe, has thrust one of the most popular African books in the news. Although Achebe wrote multiple books and produced several works of scholarship, 'Things Fall Apart' acted as the catalyst for his popularity, sending the Nigerian writer to the highest plateaus of academic fame.

How did 'Things Fall Apart,' a book written about the Igbo people in Nigeria, become an explanatory voice for colonially oppressed societies all over Africa? The literary tenor used by Achebe to write 'Things Fall Apart,' is the first reason behind the book's popularity. Any exhaustive commentary on 'Things Fall Apart,' must recognize the book's flair for weaving Igbo words and phrases with the English language.

By partly Africanizing the English language to tell an African story, Achebe was able to show a pre-colonial Igbo society equipped with the ability for self-rule. Through the book's main character, Okonkwo, Achebe showed how pre-colonial Igbo society dealt with crime and punishment. When Okonkwo committed what could be termed in today's legal systems as manslaughter, the response from the oracles at Umuofia was swift and judicious.

Once it became clear that Okonkwo's accidentally-discharged gun was responsible for killing a citizen of the land, the oracles pronounced a verdict, which ordered Okonkwo's seven-year exile from the land he loved. Despite his enormous stature in Igbo society, Okonkwo was subjected to the rule of law through a cultural edict, forcing a seemingly untouchable man into seven anguishing years of exile.

if catholics belive god is all forgiveing then how could there be a hell?

Scott

you ask for repentance on you death bed (every one does ive been close to death and first words outa my mouth oh god please help me father forgive my sins lol) so that's what is preached by popular culture the catholic religion especially so if that's true then there could be no hell every one wants to go to heaven .So how could there be a hell ?? kind of a contradiction in itself

Answer
Because many lies entered the Catholic church.

The church of Pergamos was founded by Nicolaitanes - Nicolaitanism), and was a Christian heresy first mentioned (twice) in the Book of Revelation of the New Testament.
Nicolaitane means âa follower of Nicolas.â It originates from the Greek words, nikos meaning âconquererâ or âdestroyer,â and laos, meaning âpeople.â The original NicolasâNimrod (Gen. 10:8)âwas a destroyer of the people. Nicolas is merely the Greek word for Nimrod.
Within two centuries after the Flood, Nimrod had conquered the people and founded man-made civilization. Nimrod was a Nephilim giant.

The church of Pergamos is blamed for having them who hold their "doctrines" (Rev 2:15).
They were seemingly a class of professing Christians, who sought to introduce into the church a false freedom or licentiousness, thus abusing Paul's doctrine of grace (Compare Pe2 2:15, Pe2 2:16, Pe2 2:19), and were probably identical with those who held the doctrine of Baalam (q.v.), Rev 2:14.
The Church of Pergamos was from 313--A.D. -- 606. This spans the time from Constantine's Edict of Toleration for Christians to what is considered the first actual true pope and the beginnings of the Catholic Church.
This is the root system building up to the Catholic Church.
Because of the heresy/doctrine/lies which entered the Catholic church, it's subjects suffered mental and sexual health problems in later life, they were also highly educated and used to prop up an empire.

Lies go way back:
Evil is lies, it is not a monster, lies create monsters.

Acts Chapter 15:24
Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, Ye must be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no such commandment:

Also due to lies in the Kings James version of the Bible we have African Witch children who are abused. (People also profiting from religion in Nigeria target the fear of "What if" - Then use lies for their own personal gains)

Exodus 22:18
Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17006924

In 1209, Louis VIII of France through Pope Innocent III in Bezier raised Catholic forces and massacred 20,000 Gnosticâs who made every effort to follow the teachings of Jesus.
They believed that there were two "gods" â one malevolent in charge of all visible and material things held responsible for all the atrocities in the Old Testament, http://www.nobeliefs.com/DarkBible/darkbible3.htm - and a benevolent god responsible for the message of Jesus.

The decline of the Roman Empire led to the Spanish Inquisition (Tribunal established in 1480 by Catholic Monarchs) > People deluded by heretics accusing people of being heretics, which lead to the worst torture of human beings imaginable.

Did Justin bieber really get some chick knocked up?

Q. Will this batter his reputation even more? Or will this just feed him sympathy???

Answer
No it's just a rumor this girl that started this rumor of her having sex with Justin Bieber obviously knows that if she says this it will go around eventually Justin Bieber's fans will find out and when the fans start talking about it everyone does and that girl knows that and that's what she wants she's looking for attention. A few hours ago on Twitter she tweeted "I'm famous and put a weird smiley' a few minutes later she says 'My names trending on Twitter :)' she's making it obvious that she's lying. You know what's strange? Shes from Sweden when Justin Bieber never went to Sweden so she said she flew out to Los Angeles, California to see him live she then met him with hundreds of other fans and he chose her and had "sex" with her backstage when there are Beliebers 10000 times prettier than her and Justin Bieber never let's a fan backstage and "has sex" with them when there's hundreds of people backstage, that just shows it's a rumor. There isn't time for him to have sex because he has meet and greets he has to do, soundcheck, get ready for the concert there isn't anytime. Its not Justin Bieber's kid he doesn't have a kid I don't know how people are believing this. I have and had my Twitter for 3 years supporting Justin Bieber and never have I heard once he really got someone pregnant. If he did get someone pregnant the fans would be going crazy about it right now crying when all of them are laughing and joking around about it. Justin Bieber's fans find out things before it hits the most popular celebrity gossip television show in America called 'E! News' that says true things and says what goes on about celebrities. Justin Bieber did not have sex with someone because he has said in 2010 that "I don't wanna have sex until marriage" now in 2011 he said "I don't wanna have sex with someone unless I really love that person". Justin is a celebrity and he knows that he's going to have plenty more girlfriends in the future and don't wanna risk it and mess up his career. Yes, he is a hormonal teenager but he wouldn't screw every girl he sees. Justin Bieber is always around people whenever he hangouts he's barely ever alone he always has a friend, his crew or a body guard with him. Justin Bieber isn't one of those guys that love sex and judges girls by her body or looks. Justin's parents are also very strict and protective over Justin so they wouldn't let him get someone pregnant especially at his young age. I just can't see it happening. That girl that says "this is Justin Bieber's kid" has no proof that it's Justin Bieber's kid and why would she be saying on Twitter she's famous? Wouldn't she take this more seriously? She just wants Justin Biebers money and the attention. Justin Bieber has said not too long that he wants to have a family at a young age and he wants to start looking when he is 25 or 26 years old. He is very attractive and has a wonderful personality and I do see him getting married and having children just not at 25 or 26 years old. Look at Jesse McCartney, Aaron Carter, The Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron and Justin Timberlake they were all teen sensations but their still not married nor do they have kids and they are in their 20's and 30's. Justin Bieber has a brain and he uses it. It's just some non sense rumor and there's so many things to prove it is

biebers hair in mistletoe vs current hair...advice?

please no dumb comments, his latest hair is cool with people like david beckham having it so dont hate even if you dont like bieber.

i wanna know what should i ask for if i want this hair in the barber? his hair in mistletoe

also his latest hair is just a basic faux hawk aint it?

Answer
Yes his latest hair cut the hair cut he has now is called the Faux Hawk. The haircut Justin Bieber had in the picture you just showed is called the Men's Short Layered. If you want it just like how Justin Bieber's hair is in that picture you should take a picture of it or take a picture similar to the haircut Justin Bieber had in that picture so the barber knows exactly what your talking about. When Justin Bieber had that haircut and when he got out of the shower he would blow dry his hair with Super Solano 3700Moda he then sprays his hair with KeSARI Indian Oil Hair Serum and then he would blow dry his hair again with the same blow dryer to make his hair not look wet or damp from the spray and he would brush his fingers through his hair to make him have the messy bed head look.

What's on the news lately? The latest topics buzzing around the world?

Yuppy kid!

I wanna write expositions for my fut. eng exams, i dont know how to prepare, but if you give me some topics, i can research on them....

And if you can gimme tips or websites to help me in exposition writing please, or tell me how else can i prepare. thanks/

I know some topics
1) Organ trading?
2) Great depression
3) F1 race?

Answer
Stock market crashing
US Presidential Election

Depending on the subject you pick, the best sources are CNN or possibly NewsWeek magazine, since they usually have a lot of business related articles.

The easiest way to prepare for an essay is to start by making bullet points of what it is you want to say. For example, lets say you select the election, your bullet points could be McCain, Palin, Biden, Obama, Bush etc. Then, using those points, form the sentence you want the reader to read by elaborating on the topic. Then clump the sentences together into paragraphs and bam! Essay-tastic.

P.S: The great depression was 70 years ago, not too current IMO.

animated popular news box for website?

Josh

I was wondering how to make a animated news box for a website...it is hard to explain, but an example would be: www.heartstation.org

Answer
You should learn to use flash to create animations for web use, gifs are fine for smaller stuff, but takes way to much CPU resources for cooler stuff.

So my recommendation would be to learn flash.

What is a good news website?

Dustin B

I'm looking for a news website that won't tell me about Tiger Wood's affairs or other lame things about unimportant people that are just popular or famous. Preferably one that just lays down the facts (unbiased) about important things. I doubt I'll ever find a website that isn't at least slightly biased but its worth a try!

Thanks :)
Fox news is way conservative, CNN is way liberal, and both have Tiger Woods on their home page. Doesn't anyone have a good one?
Never heard of Politico I'll check that out

Answer
Well, under your criteria I think you're going to have a hard time finding a news outlet. For the most famous athetle in the world to be involved in a major personal scandal and to take an indefinite leave
from his sport is "news". But, I think I know what you mean, ala John and Kate and that kinda thing.

One good one I check out is Real Clear Politics, if political news is your thing. For general news, the Drudge Report has a variety of topical news item from all over the world with very little if any of the People magazine type news. Check out your local newspaper online too. They are pretty straight down the middle I've found. The Wall Street Journal is good also.

You may have to more precisely define the type of news your looking for in your question also. News about what? Pick your topic, then you'll have better luck I think.

How do I stop spam from entering my hotmail?

homer742

The junk mail filtering within hotmail hasn't helped at all; it falsely flags more good mail than bad. I've tried using Outlook Express with a spam filter, with little results. Maybe I have to keep trying that........?
Anyway, I'd love to have a way to control spam without having to use a pop3 client. Any tips?
Thanks.

Answer
In the Internet age, not only are you fighting junk mail in your mailbox, but you've also got exorbitant amounts of spam in your virtual inbox. Not only are they annoying, but these e-mails can introduce viruses and spyware into your computer. While there are several different ways to combat spam, here's a start.

Steps
Stop posting your e-mail address on a public forum or website. It is estimated that 95% of all junk e-mail is caused by a person publicly disclosing his or her e-mail address. There are many robots and scripts that automatically scan websites for e-mail addresses. Also, sometimes humans actually grab e-mails of websites to use them for sign-up offers in order to get free stuff (iPods, Ringtones, etc.). If you must provide contact information, try writing it out in creative ways such as Me ~at~ yahoo ~dotcom~.
Avoid:

Popular newsgroups - robots often scour these lists for addresses
Software like BonzaiBuddy or similar programs - if these companies donât immediately sell your information to a spam company, they are subsidiaries of spam companies themselves and the software is spyware
Chat rooms like Yahoo Chat or IRC - spammers or spambots are actively mining in popular chat rooms like AOL and Yahoo chats, where e-mail addresses can be correctly guessed just by adding the proper @whatever.com to the username of a chat room visitor
Use spam blocking tools. Most webmail providers offer them, or you can download one.

Use the "This is spam" button if your email provider has one. This submits the email to their spam-control people who can take care of business and improve their anti-spam filters.
If you have a Yahoo! account you can use their discardable addresses method
Use Spam Gourmet, or others like it, with any email account
Use the 'BLOCK' list and add the spammer's domain name only. (However, this may not that effective, since spammers normally only use temporary addresses.)
Limit incoming e-mails to those in your address book and have all others put into a "Junk" folder, which you can skim through quickly and clear regularly.
Report spam. Before you delete your spam, forward your spam to: spam@uce.gov as this is the Spam box for FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Mail sent to this box is investigated. If it is indeed spam, the original sender can be charge $500 per email. The more mail they get from different users but same spammer, the more it's likely to be investigated.
Be crafty when filling out forms that ask for your e-mail address. Many web forms ask only for your name and email address. Put in a series of letters such as Swseqw for your name. Then set up a filter so emails from that newsletter or form will arrive in a separate folder if the email contains that fake name. If that e-mail turns out to be spam, set your mail program to delete all e-mails that come in with the fake name.
Use disposable addresses to identify and shake off sources of spam. Have one main account, and never, ever give this address to anyone, even your friends, who all they need to do is send you an innocent e-card to get you on a spam mailing list.

Make a separate account for different purposes (one for friends, one for entertainment sites, one for your financial websites, etc.) If you use a lot, write down which is which so you don't forget.
Set all those addresses to forward the mail to your main account so that you don't have to check multiple accounts.
If you start receiving spam through one of your alternates, you can trace it to one of your disposable addresses and simply delete that account.
Track which groups of recipients return the most spam and be more selective.

Tips
Consider using a unique domain name for your e-mail address. You may be able to turn on a wildcard(*@yourdomain.com) address so that any email sent to that domain, no matter what's before the @ symbol, will arrive at your personal inbox (check your site provider's FAQ for instructions). This gives a lot of flexibility because you can tell them anything as your email address, as long as the domain after the @ symbol is yours. If you get spammed to a certain address, just set that account up (generally in SMTP settings) and have all that email automatically deleted("bit-bucket").

Warnings
Never respond to spam (not even to "remove" your e-mail address from the list). They will only send you more because they know you exist. Responding only promotes their cause, to sell you something you didn't order. - They live off 6% of responders.

What is the best way to ask a question on the Internet?

Leena

What is the best way to ask a question on the Internet?

Why aren't Usenet newsgroups as popular as they once were? Now there is Yahoo Answers, Google Answers, WikiAnswers, Live QnA, mailing lists and countless Web forums.

The problem with those is that they require you to register for each forum. Where as newsgroups can be used with one account for all topics.

AIDS invented by the US?

tru_story

Someone pointed out this site to me.
http://www.boydgraves.com/
Whats everyones take on this?

Answer
This is pretty popular among conspiracy theorists. One of the biggest reasons being that it was primarily 'undesirables' (e.g. druggies, homosexuals, blacks) who got it*.

It's interesting to note that in 1969 a research administrator for the US DoD, Dr Donald MacArthur informed a House military appropriations subcommittee that they were working on a new micro-organism that would essentially break up the immune system; he gave a time line of 5-10 years. Congress approved funding and less than 10 years later, AIDS appeared in Africa.

In 1984, an Indian newspaper accused the US Army of creating AIDS as a weapon. They quoted an official military research publication.

Creating further speculation: in 1978, over 1000 gay men in monogamous relationships received what was purportedly a Hepatits B vaccine (then in experimental stages) in NYC. The next year, the first US cases of AIDS were recorded. Seven years later, over 60% of that group was dying from the disease. Concurrently, two other AIDS-related illnesses, Kaposi's sarcoma and Mycoplasma penetrans appeared in NYC.

Did the US Army create AIDS? A similar virus existed in African apes before appearing in humans. Typically virus don't jump species. The article in the Indian newspaper claims that the Army Biological Warfare Laboratory at Ft Detrick Maryland searched throughout Africa for a powerful virus.

Creating even further speculation, an army colonel, David Huxsoll, is reported as saying that AIDS was studied and determined to be a poor biological warfare agent (he has since denied saying this).

As far as conspiracy theories go, this one has a LOT of things behind it creating speculation.

Why are 'agony aunt' columns so popular in newspapers?

ravish2006

I want your views about this. To start with, we can think in the terms of these--
1. Do the readers feel it will be able to solve their problems indirectly?
2. Does the feeling of peeping into others' private life and personal concerns attract readers (voyuerism)?
3. Does it make them feel superior coz they don't have such problems?

Answer
Human's are social creatures, we thrive on interaction. We want to be sure we have made and will make wise choices, for ourselves and tend to ask those who whe think have more expierence than us. If that means writing to somebody in a newspaper from which we have seen provides valuable advice to others so be it i suppose. I believe that reading about other peoples' lives is interesting it helps us feel less alone, and helps us remember that we aren't the only one with issues in our lives, making us feel more normal. Depending on the person they could possibly feel superior to people who have greater problems then them, but i would think that moreso people would feel pitty or sorry for them instead.

The problem is falling interest in what constitutes news, which many find to be propaganda of one sort or the other.

Does anyone have any good programs to make Youtube Videos ex. Powerpoint, Onetruemedia...?

Jasmine

I've tried using powerpoint, but youtube doesn't accept that format. I've tried using onetruemedia, but I want to try something else. Does anyone have any other good programs that is in a format that youtube allows to upload? And, I have another question, how do you download other youtube clips onto your desktop so you can edit or remix it with Windows Movie Maker?

Answer
How to upload PowerPoint presentation to YouTube
YouTube-The most awesome video sharing website
YouTube has now become the number one place on the internet to find interesting news clips and videos, and many of us upload our own videos for the world to see.
Show your PowerPoint slides on YouTube
Anyone will have to say that having videos play on a YouTube is very cool, then how about upload PowerPoint presentation to YouTube, wouldn't that wow you friends and make you look more professional and attractive on the internet? And why don't you take a little time to learn how to add slideshow to your YouTube as well? Here is a simple example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUcZG38_hoI
Undoubtedly, you can use PowerPoint to create a much better video presentation than that!
How to upload
Since YouTube accepts only video files from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in the WMV, AVI, MOV, and MPEG file formats. But we all know that our PowerPoint presentations are not video formats and Microsoft also doesn't support this conversion. So we need a third party software to complete this process, and we also don't want to lose any vice-over, movies, animations and transitions in the PowerPoint during the converting. The converted video PowerPoint presentation should play as the original. A product called Wondershare PPT2Video Converter will make this work like a piece of cake! Wondershare PPT2Video Converter is an all-in-one PowerPoint to video converter. It can convert PowerPoint presentations to almost all popular video formats such as MPEG, AVI, MP4, WMV, ASF, FLV, MOV, 3GP, 3GP2. Ideal for trade show, digital signature, in-store displays and ready for video podcast. You can download the product here to have a free try:
http://download.sameshow.com/ppt2video_trial.exe
If you are using the trial version and the convert failed, you'd better contact the Customer Service of the company to give you a full version or order it! Because the trial version has water mark and sometimes doesn't work very well!
If you want to know more about its features, view this website:
http://www.sameshow.com/powerpoint-to-video.html
When you decided to use this tool to convert your PowerPoint presentation to video, we recommend the following settings:
⢠MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format
⢠320Ã240 resolution
⢠MP3 audio
⢠30 frames per second
Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your videos look better on YouTube. Once you've finished editing your video, made sure it's less than 10 minutes, smaller than 100MB, and in an acceptable format, you're ready to upload it.
1. Click "Upload Videos"in the upper-right-hand corner of any YouTube page.
2. Enter as much information about your video as possible, including Title, Description, Tags, and Category. The more information you include, the easier it is for users to find your video!
3. Determine if you want your video set to Public or Private.
4. Click the "Continue Uploading"button.
5. In the next window, click the "Browse"button to browse for the video file. Select the file you want to upload.
6. Click the "Upload Video" button.
After you have uploaded the video, you have to wait for a few minutes or more, be patience, because YouTube has to convert your video to certain format that supported by the website.
Here is a simple example on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUcZG38_hoI
What are you waiting for, convert your wonderful PowerPoint slides to video and upload to YouTube now!
Share with others
After you have uploaded the converted video, you can share your PowerPoint presentations with others, because each video on YouTube has a unique URL, you only need to tell your friend the address of your video, click on the "Share" button at the bottom of the video player, and enter the email addresses or YouTube usernames of the people to whom you want to send it. Click the "Send"button, and you'e all done! Besides, you can insert the URL to your Blog so that you can view your PowerPoint presentations on the blog.

Who approves Yahoo News headlines?

Kevin D

Story headline: "U.S. arrests 25 in sheik slaying probe "

After reading this story, the US simply reported the arrests. The story quotes a US military source praising Iraqi's for the investigation and and reports Iraqi's detaining them. The report never cites US involvement at all, except for relaying the information????

These type of misleading headlines are not rare at Yahoo. Why?
Thanks for the replies. I know news orgs pick Reuters (AP, etc) stories from the wire, however it was the headline that is misleading. The hedlines I believe are often times applied by the media organization that passes on the wire story. (in this cas Yahoo News) Can anyone confirm this practice?

After searching the story, I saw a number of different headlines, though the story was the same.

Answer
I think Yahoo uses an algorithim to see which stories are most popular on their sources' sites (AP, Reuters and AFP among others), then allows the software to decide.

Give me the names of some celebrity gossip magazines in Germany?

CatchMeint

Also, do American actors/actresses appear in the headlines from time to time or are they strictly centered on the lives of celebrities in Germany? If it happens to be the latter, can anyone give me the names of a few?

Answer
i only found one magazine that is, apparently, exclusively centered on german celebs. it's called "closer": http://www.blume-pr.de/newsroom/2012/02/closer-%E2%80%93-ganz-nah-an-den-deutschen-stars/
the other gossip magazines i know are usually a mix of german and international celebs. i give you some names, anyway, you could visit their homepages to see if you like them:
women's magazines: gala, bunte, ok-magazin, in touch, max, glamour
teen magazines: bravo, popcorn, mädchen, twist

I hate celebrity gossip, its a misuse of time, do u guys like it.?

J

Answer
Regular people do what celebrity's do too,the only difference is when your famous and recognized for your achievements, paparazzies make them the center of gossip because they're in the entertainment business but when your a regular person, they don't care what you did because your nothing to them.
I personally don't have a dissatisfaction of it because people are fans of their favorite star's but when you constantly keep talking about the same celebrity and he/she keeps popping in the news,it gets tiresome to some people because they want to hear real news, not what Kim kardashian wored yesterday. (Just using a example)

Was Jodi Arias murder premeditated? Why?

tom

Personally I'd give her the death penalty and ignore any jury instructions on how they legally define premeditated. After All I'd have to live with my conscience and not what some lawyer wrote

But that's the point in my question.

Here Is my simple question (I hope the Jury Is NOT discussing)

Since she planned out the killing (regardless of how long ago) and clearly wanted to destroy evidence by throwing the memory card in the washer, why did she even bother to take photos in the first place???

It's a Known fact that a lot of molesters or hard criminals keep things for themselves, from the victim, but in this case she actually disposed of the photos memory card.

So she didn't keep any physical memories of the heinous murder she committed, but took photos that left evidence (that she later decided to destroy). So why even create the evidence in the first place?

And does that legally speaking remove the death penalty?

The 2nd worst part about her not getting the death penalty is that for all all intents and purposes it would mean it's dead. Other then Texas it would mean it would almost never be used. It would exist on paper only.
Chet you totally skipped the question lol
I glad you agree about that but that wasnt the question lol

Answer
"After All I'd have to live with my conscience and not what some lawyer wrote " - I COULD NOT AGREE MORE.

We have to look at ourselves in the mirror every day, and must be able to tell ourselves "I did the right thing".

But remember, the "news" does not tell the entire story. There are many things the jury hear that we do not.

Added:
Not sure what you are asking. There are 3 questions that I see:
1 Was Jodi Arias murder premeditated? Why?
2 Since she planned out the killing (regardless of how long ago) and clearly wanted to destroy evidence by throwing the memory card in the washer, why did she even bother to take photos in the first place???
3 And does that legally speaking remove the death penalty?

I do not know Arizona law, I do a search on Yahoo for law and Texas. It found it in your question. "Other then Texas.....". That is why I answered. But just for fun, what if it did happen in Texas:

Premeditated does not make her eligible for the death penalty. Showing premeditation does help in showing to the jury that she "intentionally or knowingly" killed that person.

Under Texas law, to commit murder you have to "intentionally or knowingly causes the death of an individual (among a few other things)".
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.19.htm#19.02

This could mean deciding to do it on the spot or planing it for years.

"Premeditated" does not matter for murder nor capital murder in Texas. There must be something else that makes her eligible for capital murder.
http://www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us/Docs/PE/htm/PE.19.htm#19.03

The above link describes the acts someone must commit to be convicted of capital murder. If you have time (since you are familiar with the case) please read through the list and see if any makes her eligible for capital murder. Let me know what you find, I find this stuff fun.

What should I do for my engaging opener on my essay?

pi@nofreak

I need to write an intro paragraph for my persuasive essay over the death penalty. I'm arguing against it and I already wrote my thesis but I'm still editing it. I need an engaging opener though. At first I was thinking about referencing a case where the convicted person's guilt is questionable, but it turns out I used that as evidence later on and didn't want to repeat the same example. I don't have any ideas what I could do for my intro. Would it be okay maybe to do a short fictional intro that describes what it must feel like to be in an inmate's situation but not be guilty? If that were okay I feel like it would spark interest in the topic and establish a connection with the reader. I really don't have any other ideas, but I don't want a dry intro that just says "The death penalty is a controversial issue", it needs to be better than that. Thanks in advance!
I'm not necessarily against the death penalty per se but I believe that there is so much room for error in taking an innocent life that it should not exist and instead should be replaced with life in prison with no possibility of parole, which would ensure safety of the public without risking innocent lives.

Answer
A quick scenario, fictional or not, would definitely be a good intro to help your readers feel what it would be like. Maybe look up a guy who was on death row and was later found not guilty because of new evidence (yes, this has happened many times)! *pat on back* Then you could go into how it is a controversial issue and reasons why it should be banned or whatever.
Check out the Jodi Arias trial and verdict. Although that may support the death penalty... but it is a hot topic in current news! Good luck :)
oh oh oh, the West Memphis Three. Hunny, if you don't know about it, it will take some research, but check it out!

If cold sores are so common and long lasting, why don't celebrities or public figures ever seem to have them?

Tabetha wh

80-90% of people are infected with the virus by age 50. And 30% of the infected population have manifestations of the virus (cold sores/fever blisters). If that's true, we should see them almost every day on TV. Do actors and celebrities know of a better way to stop the swelling or conceal the blisters?

Answer
Quite a few celebrities have been photographed with them, including Katie Holmes with a really big one.

However, with money and doctors willing to write prescriptions, you can get valtrex and similar drugs (mainly used for genital herpes) which if taken at the first warning tingle of a cold sore can prevent you from getting one completely. Better that, I suspect, that appearing in the gossip mags with a big sore on your lips.

Either that or they just hide out in the house!

do you know your celebrities & purses???

Bella

hello beautiful people, i need your help more than everrr!!!! okay so i'm 23 years old, and i have ALOT of trouble when it comes to choosing the ideal handbag / purse brand. i have ONE louie vuitton that everybody envies, and then i bought a prada bag that everybody (my friends) laughed at, cos they believed the bag itself was for a 40year old woman, and not a 23 year old girl. I try flipping thru magazines, trying to see what brands celebrities my age wear, but they never seem to name them, only what they're doing in the photo sorta thing. So i have a quiz for all you purse/celeb fans. I'm going to name some brands, and its up to you to tell me what celebrities you know of who have been seen with these brands, then i'll google their age & everything, and stay clear from that paritcular brand if say middle aged women wear them moreso than younger women. understand??

Dooney Bourke
Louie Vuitton
Burberry
Chanel
Coach
Christian Dior
Gucci
Jimmy Choo
Louie Vuitton
Marc Jacobs
Prada
Versace

if you want to also tell me what age group each brand i've listed above is aimed at, that will help also. thank u so much!!! xoxoox

Is Justin Bieber pregnant?

MichaelM

I heard that Justin Bieber was pregnant and his baby wasn't with Selena Gomez... is this true? Also did he really leave Selena Gomez?

Answer
Justin Bieber is not pregnant. Males can't get other males pregnant that's highly impossible. If your not a human being or your under the age of 4 years old I understand why you ask this but seriously this just makes you look really stupid for asking this. This girl named Mariah Yeater is claiming that Justin Bieber is the father for her 3 month old son but I think that its a rumor. This girl (Mariah Yeater) knows that if she says this it will go around eventually Justin Bieber's fans will find out and when the fans start talking about it everyone does and that girl knows that and that's what she wants she's looking for attention. She told the media that Justin Bieber's bodyguard Kenny Hamilton escorted her backstage to meet Justin Bieber. The media contacted Kenny Hamilton to see if it was true and Kenny Hamilton says that never happened and Kenny Hamilton was with Justin Bieber backstage at all times and the only people he was with was with Justin Bieber's bodyguard Kenny Hamilton, Justin Bieber's best friend Ryan Butler, Justin Bieber's hair dresser Vanessa and Justin Bieber's mother Pattie Mallette. Media says that to Mariah Yeater and she said "no comment". A few days ago on Twitter she tweeted "I'm famous and put a weird smiley' a few minutes later she says 'My names trending on Twitter :)' she's making it obvious that she's lying. She then met him when there's hundreds of other fans and Justin chose her and had "sex" with her backstage when there are Beliebers 10000 times prettier than her. There are the prettiest Beliebers and Justin Bieber never had sex with them. To go backstage you have to personally know that celebrity, who they work with or someone that they know and Mariah Yeater doesn't personally know Justin Bieber or anyone in Justin Bieber's crew. Justin Bieber never let's a fan backstage and "has sex" with them when there's hundreds of people backstage. Justin Bieber also said on 'The Today Show' November 4, 2011 "I never met the women". There isn't time for him to have sex at his concert because he has meet and greets before his concert he has to do, sound check, concert then get in the car and leave. Justin Bieber isn't one of those guys that love sex and judges girls by her body or looks. Justin's parents are also very strict and protective over Justin so they wouldn't let him get someone pregnant especially at his young age. That girl that says "this is Justin Bieber's kid" has no evidence at all and I'm sure she wouldn't she take this more seriously, she just wants Justin Biebers money and the attention. Justin is very attractive and has a wonderful personality and I do see him getting married and having children just not at 17 years old. Look at Jesse McCartney, Aaron Carter, The Jonas Brothers, Zac Efron and Justin Timberlake they were all teen sensations but their still not married nor do they have kids and they are in their 20's and 30's. I don't exactly know what is going on or what will happen I am just saying what I know no one really knows what is really true until the day Justin Bieber takes that DNA test. No Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez did not break up.

in celebrity gossip whats happening with hugh hefner? who is he dating? i heard kendra was getting married?

confused m

a while ago i heard holly was pregnant and haven't heard anything of bridget. i watch the girls next door and it looks like he's still dating all 3 but holly is his main girlfriend. in the news it said he was dating twins and giving away kendra to some pro sports player

Answer
I don't think Holly is pregnant. Supposedly, she and the old man broke up because she was seeing Criss Angel and was interested in him. Now, they're engaged or something.

Kendra moved out and is dating some football player/sports star. E! is giving her her own show about her life in hew new apartment.

I am not sure about Bridget.

who likes gossip, who indulges in gossip, and how harmful is gossip,?

mark v

please do not tell, who gossips, only first names, and do you recall a time where the person or persons you were gossiping about really were hurt, example like lost a job or spouse, or large amount of money, or what have you, thank you for all answers, has anyone refrained from gossiping, and avoided gossiping, please give examples, but do not go into too much detail. thanks

Answer
Gossip can harm our soul
It's human nature to wonder what's going on in other people's lives. We speculate and surmise about them, wonder about their personal life and work success or failure, and so on. We then discuss our thoughts about them, and the titbits of knowledge we might have about their lives, with other people. Gossip is in essence discussing someone else's business when they aren't present

The harm done by gossip
Apart from celebrities who want to be talked about, there's a lot of harm that can be done by gossip. Even when no harm's intended, the problem with gossip is what starts as 'harmless' can sometimes develop into the harmful type. Like 'Chinese whispers' the gossip can alter in form as it moves outward from the initial gossips. By the time it's moved to another group of people it might've morphed into something negative and hurtful.

Also it may simply be private information the person wants to keep secret. Let's go back to 'Sarah' with the newly-dyed red hair. Discussing her hair colour is one thing but saying, 'Did you know Sarah's boyfriend cheated on her?' is another. It discloses something that 'Sarah' probably wants to keep private.

Gossip is also harmful because untruths and half-truths are told as if true. It doesn't give the person a choice about whether or not they want to be discussed, it can spin out of control, and can create an atmosphere of cliques particularly in the office, and this facilitates bullying.

Remember the game, GOSSIP? This "icebreaker," used often in team-building workshops, is a great exercise to illustrate how quickly information can become misinformation. The person who begins the game writes a message on a piece of paper then tells it, as a secret, to player two. Delivery of the message continues, from person to person, until everyone has heard the secret. Then, the last person repeats what he (or she) believes was heard, out loud, followed by reading of the message (from the paper) by the person who started the game. The two messages typically differ in direct proportion to how many people participated in the exercise. This illustrates, quickly, how careful we need to be when we repeat something we hear from someone else.

Nowadays I receive too many Emails that remind me of GOSSIP. These particular messages often have "urgent" or "thought you should see this" or "pass this on" (and sometimes, "suggestion for your newsletter") typed into the subject line. The forwarded messages are accompanied by lengthy lists of the people who've received them before I did and the first sentence often says, "I checked this out before sending it to you," or "I trust the person who sent this to me." followed by an outrageous health hazard or opportunity for me to get something for almost nothing if I'll simply, "pass the message on."

This week I received two pieces of gossip from several sources. The first promised that if I forwarded the message to my friends I'd somehow end up with a gift certificate from The GAP. The second was more frightening. It warned me that some tampon manufacturers had added asbestos to their tampons to perpetuate lengthening of a woman's menstrual cycle and, therefore, sell more tampons.

None of the people who sent me the message checked to see if it was true before forwarding it to me (and probably many other "friends" on their mailing list). The reason I know they didn't check it out is because I did. Both are untrue.

The GAP has great ads on television these days, but they're not giving out web generated gift certificates. As for asbestos, it is a toxic substance when inhaled. I don't know anyone who is lighting up tampons and inhaling asbestos--even if it was in tampons. As for perpetuating bleeding, tampons, in case you haven't seen one, are padded with absorbent cotton--that's what makes them work successfully. Even if a tampon had asbestos fibers in it, I guarantee you it wouldn't be on the outside where it might irritate tender tissue--no woman would tolerate the insertion process. But, think about it. No matter what you think about our government, it is not in a conspiracy with tampon companies to injure us.
I know my friends believe gossip is harmful, dangerous and, certainly nothing they would want to perpetuate. So, I'm inviting them, and all my readers, to think twice before they relay the dire messages they receive back into cyberspace on the out and out chance they "might" be true. Consider also that if there is such a thing as "karma" that sending potentially erroneous (especially fearful) information to others is a set up for some scary experiences of your own. And, if you want to help yourself, and others, to better health--relay your favorite exercise or smart eating habit in hopes it will make their life in this world a better one.

Why do people focus more on celebrity gossip instead of actual news?

Padres SD

Answer
We seem to be a celebrity orientated society. Especially young people who aren't interested in politics or what is happening in the world around them. It is sad that so many people look up to those who are celebrities rather than real heroes who actually help in our communities and country.

But I can't fault the young people for that as I can remember being the same way when I was young!
Yikes, that was a long, long time ago! :-)

I believe that is why Obama became president. The 20 something voters looked on him as a celebrity.

Getting our youth involved in the voting process should be our #1 priority in this day and time and not only to vote, but to understand who and what they are voting for.

Ah well, I will get off my soap box and quit ranting.

Have a nice day!

Is there a possibility of the united states going to war with Venezuela?

George

I heard on the news a few years ago that some how the war in the middle east would eventually lead to a war with Venezuela. Why would this happen and is there still a decent possibility of that happening

Answer
That is very unlikely. I assume that rumor relates to a need for petroleum. I understand Venezuela is a major source for the US. I assume again the concern is if the US is somehow shut off from Middle Eastern oil it would rely mostly on Venezuela. Venezuela, as a normal in the world haggling culture (that's another assumption of mine), would be likely to raise prices dramatically to take advantage of the situation.

The US was initially established as British colonies by ultra-Protestant cultures about four hundred years ago. They were refugees from British and European normal Protestant and Catholic societies. The ultra-Protestants (English Puritan Anglicans and Quakers, Dutch Reformed, German Mennonites, and French Huguenots) were very different cultures from the rest of the world. They came to North America to establish community oriented socialistic, and some even communist, communities far from the influence of the normal family oriented and ruled cultures in most of the world. Those unusual ultra-Protestant cultures established fixed wages and prices assumed to be fair by employees and employers and by customers and merchants.

Unfortunately for them the overpopulating rest of the world began swarming in on them beginning between a century and two later mostly with my Irish and German relatives. Each wave of new immigrants flooding into North America from other parts of Europe were more family oriented and less community oriented than the prior ones. The ones coming today still are. The new ones ever more change the community orientation here toward the more normal for the world family orientation.

Bad for us but good for Venezuela is our growing acceptance of the normal world's haggling processes. We are less likely now to conquer Venezuela, and other oil producers, when they start zooming their prices for oil If the Middle East shuts down a lot of its oil production.

If the Middle East oil shuts off, so long as Venezuela doesn't raise its prices to outrageously unacceptable ones it probably has no worry about invasion. If it does raise them that high dig holes for bomb shelters. We will be there with carriers followed by oil tankers.

Such things are exactly what started terrible wars in the 20th and latter 19th centuries including both world wars. Land and resources are always the reason for wars of conquest by expanding populations and always have been. The people in the US and most other Euro-cultures stopped overpopulating a half century ago and prospered because they did but the rest of the world continued spewing babies at unsustainable rates.

Those overpopulating cultures, beginning with my Irish and German relatives, are the ones that have been flooding into the Americas including to a lesser extent South America. Because they continue to expand world populations most of us must continue wars of conquest to accommodate the continued growth of human population. I don't feel sorry for Venezuela if it is invaded because it is one of the overpopulating societies helping cause the problem.

PS: You like most of us in the past probably were indoctrinated by socialist idealists into believing the ridiculous fairy tale, but nice to believe: "we should all get along and share." I don't deny how nice that sounds but it has no relationship to the reality of life on earth with expanding human populations. If the world reduces its population down to below two billion, or better yet below a billion, that world could be possible. So long as it continues expanding its population don't even bother with that delusional dream.

Blackwater saves the day?

Q. just found this on the web.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071003/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq

Why is it that I have not seen the news chanels leading with this story? Maybe becuase it isnt something that is bad. Is this just more proof that the news reports what they want instead of what is important?

Answer
I have an idea.

Let's use the combined ambition, intelligence, and investigative skills of our best Yahoo! Answers contacts in the Politics section to compile a list every six months of important stories the Liberal media has purposely ignored. Instead of just complaining about how biased the media is, we can have solid proof and maybe start a backlash against the media until it is more balanced and responsible.

What about the latest story that the two Koreas are working to establish a formal peace in lieu of the nearly 50 year old "armistice".

The article says: "Leaders of the two Koreas agreed on Thursday to try to bring peace to the Cold War's last frontier, just a day after the North signed up to an international deal to disable its nuclear facilities."

How about the press giving at least a little credit to Bush, who steadfastly refused to give into bilateral talks the North Koreans needed evade continued pressure from China and Japan? How about giving Bush credit for finally forcing Korea to dismantle its nukes program?

How about acknowledging that it was Bush's toughness that made Libya suddenly and unexpectedly renounce any future terrorist activity? Isn't it a little odd that such an enormous development is ignored by the press? If a Democratic President had achieved such a coup, it would be front page news, and he'd be Time Magazine "Man Of The Year".

Instead of publishing a daily body count about Iraq, how about balancing that with the body count here in the U.S., which for the last six years has been ZERO!

Would it kill the myopic, effete, Liberal press to give some credit to Bush for the fact that Israel has withdrawn from previously occupied territory, or recognize our efforts to get a homeland for the Palestinians?

Any possibility of extracting even grudging acknowledgement that Saudi Arabia, which used to play both sides of the fence regarding terrorism, is now a firm ally? How about Bush's miracle of keep the Pakistani President from getting cold feet and distancing himself from the war on terror?

There are so many things Bush has done that have gone unacknowledged. Let's start holding the press accountable for their unbelievable bias. Let's prove our case against them.

China warns U.S. and South Korea. Your thoughts?

Yoshiki Ha

China warned on Friday against military acts near its coastline ahead of U.S.-South Korean naval exercises that North Korea, days after shelling a South Korean island, said risked pushing the region towards war.

Beijingâs warning came as the Seoul government named a career soldier as its new defence minister amid mounting criticism of the response to Tuesdayâs attack by North Korea, its heaviest bombardment since the 1950-53 Korean War.

North Korean artillery shells rained down on the small South Korean island of Yeonpyeong on Tuesday, killing four people and destroying dozens of houses.

"The situation on the Korean peninsula is inching closer to the brink of war due to the reckless plan of those trigger-happy elements to stage again war exercises targeted against the (North)," the Northâs official KCNA news agency said.

The aggressive language is typical of North Korean state-owned media, but the heightened tension was enough to depress the won as much as 2.2 percent. The stock market closed 1.3 percent down, in line with the wider region.

The United States is sending in an aircraft carrier group led by the nuclear-powered USS George Washington to the Yellow Sea for military exercises with South Korea starting on Sunday.

Planned before this weekâs attack, the four-day manoeuvres are a show of strength which, besides enraging North Korea, have unsettled China, its neighbour and only real ally.

"We oppose any military act by any party conducted in Chinaâs exclusive economic zone without approval," Chinaâs Foreign Ministry said in an online response to a question regarding Chinaâs position on the George Washington participating in joint naval exercises.

The exclusive economic zone is a maritime zone up to 200 nautical miles from a countryâs coast.

Washington is pressing China to use its influence to rein in Pyongyang to help ease tension in the worldâs fastest-growing economic region.

GOVERNMENT CRITICISED

South Koreaâs presidential Blue House appointed Kim Kwan-jin, 61, former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, to replace Kim Tae-young, who had tried to resign the defence portfolio in May following criticism of the governmentâs response to a torpedo attack on a South Korean warship blamed on the North.

"(We) think nominee Kim, well-respected for professionalism and conviction, is the right person for the post in order to restore trust from people and boost morale in the entire military," presidential secretary Hong Sang-pyo told a news briefing.

There was brief panic in the capital Seoul in the afternoon when television reported sounds of artillery fire near Yeonpyeong. But the military said the artillery fire was distant and no shells landed in South Korea.

"Investors are growing more jittery ahead of the joint military exercise," said Kim Hyoung-ryoul, a market analyst at NH Investment & Securities. "The key concern is, whether North Korea will again take unforeseen, rash actions."

Reclusive and unpredictable North Korea has defied international efforts to halt its nuclear ambitions. But Tuesdayâs artillery barrage was a major ramping-up of tension between to two Koreas, who remain technically still at war.

South Korean troops fired back 13 minutes later, causing unknown damage. Members of Leeâs own party and opposition lawmakers accused the military of responding too slowly.

Hundreds of former South Korean soldiers held a protest rally in the border town of Paju on Friday, accusing the government of being too weak. A small anti-North Korea protest was held in Seoul.

"The lazy governmentâs policies towards North Korea are too soft," said Kim Byeong-su, president of the association of ex-marines, in Paju. "It needs to take revenge on a bunch of mad dogs."

"Of the four wars in my lifetime, none came about because the U.S. was too strong."

Yet, we still have plenty of Americans who are calling for cuts in the Defense budget.
