Answer
Without Warning (1994 TV movie)
From Wikipedia:
"Without Warning" is a U.S. TV movie that premiered on CBS on Halloween night, October 31, 1994. The movie centered on one news reporter (veteran journalist Sander Vanocur appearing as himself) and a scientific analyst (Jane Kaczmarek as Dr. Caroline Jaffe) covering a breaking news story of three meteor fragments crashing into the Earth's northern hemisphere. The movie is presented as if it were an actual breaking news event, complete with remote reports from reporters. The film never breaks character, never going behind the scenes. // NOTE: Aliens try to communicate with us~unsuccessfully, sad to say.
You can read the plot summary here:

I've never gotten to see this unfortunately but always want to, ever since reading about it. I'm not sure why I didn't get to see it when it aired originally.

What explains the dramatic drop in violent crime in the United States?

After about 1994, crime in this country has been steadily decreasing. It's actually cut in HALF in the past twenty years. What explains it?

And also, why doesn't it feel that way? If you look at the news, it sure feels violent.

Answer
Have you heard of dumpster divers? They're people who go through other people's trash looking for treasures. It's not illegal, because once someone throws something out, it no longer belongs to them.

Gossip is like dumpster diving, and celebrity or not, once trash comes out of your mouth it no longer belongs to you. People can and will use your words in any way they want and there's nothing you can do about it. It may not be fair, but it's the way people are. Because celebrities have mikes and cameras in their faces all the time there is much more opportunity for them to say something they'll regret, but it can happen to anyone.

The way celebrities are portrayed?

Janice

I'm fifteen years old, and I have to admit that I do get sucked into all of the Hollywood gossip and fame. I spend numerous hours on the computer each day checking up on it all. Yes, I have a social life, but sometimes I feel like celebrities sidetrack me. I know it sounds silly, but I see it happening in my friends as well. Celebrity addiction is a big problem with people my age these days, and I truly do hate it. It does not affect things such as my grades considering that I have a 4.0, but I don't even feel like that is enough. I believe that America as a whole buys into an image that is nonexistent. I'm aware that Megan Fox doesn't look like Megan Fox, but the image that is sold has got me obsessing over what I eat, the way I dress, the way I apply my makeup, my skin. I know it's not healthy, but I feel like no matter how far I go it will never be good enough. It's been weighing on my mind a lot lately and I feel as if I can not shake the thoughts from my head. I feel like I have to be someone I am not to get any where in this world. My family sees a change in me, and I honestly don't know what to do. I know it may be a little hard to understand why this affects me the way that it does, but if you can understand it, please give me any suggestions as to how I can just feel more comfortable with myself and stop obsessing over things that really aren't important.

Thank you :D
Thanks for the answers so far.

The first one with the pictures helped.

And for the second answer: I'm a size 2, but I'm no where close to anorexic, lol :p
I guess I don't technically 'obsess' over my weight because that would mean having an eating disorder. I wouldn't go that far.

Answer
First let me get it out there Im 13. Second PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T OBSESS ABOUT YOUR WEIGHT (AKS WHAT YOU EAT) THE WAY YOU DRESS ETC. It really really isn't healthy at all. Yeah sometimes I feel like I may not be thin enough because I don't fit in a size 0 and im an extra extra small and I have pimples and zits (which honestly I could care less about) Let me tell you Ashley Greene and Kristen Stewart are some of my idols. And I do try to loss weight but its not healthy... I have a small story there was this girl who would Look at a magazine pick out a thin girl and turn to her friend and be like next week ill be this thin the next week she would be that thin and she would pick a thinner girl and she would do the same she ended up dying... PLEASE dint obsess over that... Yeah its fine to do small things like celebrities (Trust me I try to dress like them) but please just be who you are don't become anorexic and all this other crap you here celebrities are doing.................... We all cant be barbies with it wouldn't be possible.

Is the american mainstream media liberal or conservative biased?

ez f

please make your case with evidence.

Answer
Conservative.
Objective data is required to substantiate the claim that the bias of the media is in fact a conservative one, and FAIR (Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting) has been compiling just that kind of data for 15 years now. FAIR has documented that conservative or right-leaning "think" tanks (like Heritage, Cato, RAND or our favourite, the "Family Research" council) received more than 50% of media citations in 1998 and 1999, while left-wing and progressive think tanks overally received less than 13%. FAIR's issue collection reveals, among other things, how the mass media have helped create the myth that social security is failing, paving the way for the realization of one of the right's political wet dreams: privatization of social security
perpetuate conservative myths about wellfare and simultanously turn a blind eye to corporate wellfare
sensationalize street crime and ignore corporate crime
treat religious right groups such as the Promise Keepers with kid's gloves and thus help legitimize them in the public perception generally avoid reporting on the lunatic fringe of the right, such as militias, neo-Nazis and anti-abortion terrorists, and in particular, avoid examining the personal and ideological connections these groups have to the Republican party created the perception that there is widespread popular opposition to affirmative action when in fact most people support it
all but ignore waste, mismanagment and corruption in the military-industrial complex, especially as it relates to the planned missile defense system
downplayed protests against the IMF, the World Bank and the WTO by portraying protestors as leftist fringe groups, communists and anarchists
report corporate PR as legitimate scientific research.
Given these facts, the claim of the liberal media bias is shaky enough as it relates to major newspapers and television networks. But when one admits radio stations into the picture, the claim becomes wholly preposterous. Conservative hate radio has been carpet bombing the nation with hard-right ideology, unbridled hatred towards liberals and Clinton, distortions, lies and bogus science for years. Hate radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Gordon Liddy, Michael Reagan and Oliver North are heard by millions of people every day, and they have no progressive counterparts of any significance. Not exactly surprising, considering that corporate sponsors have a vested interest in supporting pro-business voices, and suppressing progressive ones

The Liberal Media myth is a propaganda tool employed by conservative radio hosts, columnists and pundits as a convenient excuse why after 20 years their ideology has failed to convince the public at large, and as a memetic inocculation of the public against the evidence that the media bias is in fact a conservative one.
Not only does the liberal media claim have no basis in fact, it also does not make sense considering the issues of media ownership and influence of advertisers. Most media outlets are owned by a handful of conservative corporations and individuals, and funded by usually economically conservative advertisers who have no need for an educated, alert, independent and critical citizenry. What they need is a dumb, bored, cynical and apathetic public that has abandoned all critical faculties and is easily distracted by celebrity gossip and mindless sports games. A public that will believe anything it is told, or nothing at all, which amounts to the same end result. This pro-corporate conservative bias of the media is well-documented and shows itself in consistent under-reporting or ignoring of any information that would lead people to question the fundamental status quo.

Secret of South Park's success?

Q. Why is the show so funny? Every episode seems like a comedic classic. Here is why, in my opinion:

1. Parodies many recent events...one of the most political comedies out there.

2. No remorse. Makes fun of everything. From all types of mental disorders, religious movements, and nationalities, nothing seems out of South Park's grasp.

3. The characters are very sarcastic. Much of the comedy comes from reactions to one another. For instance, something bad would happen. Then, a few seconds of silence. Out of nowhere, Cartman calls out, "Screw you guys, I'm going home!" or "Oh, Goddammit!"

4. Cartman, of course. A true comedic genius.

Why do you think the show could continue to be unbelievably funny - now in its tenth season?

Answer
WhenSouth Park first debuted in 1997 I was offended at the idea. While elephants and mating with pigs and old men having sex with chickens was nothing new, (zoophilia has been in movies since the early 1900's, didn't ya' know) South Park's claim to fame was that it was supposed to be a controversial show, exploring the outer regions of caustic satire and testing the boundaries of free speech and political correctness. Like The Simpsons, like Rocky & Bullwinkle, or even approaching the cultural significance of artists like comic book legend Robert Crumb.

However, during the first year or so, South Park hardly mattered. The plots were much less offensive than they were inane. We learned a lot about the sexual kinks of various town characters and we saw Kenny get killed every episode as a running gag. This was hardly groundbreaking. The show owed much more to Peanuts (with its out of the mouth of babes wisdom) and Loony Tunes, which pioneered episodic violence. (Maybe Wiley E. Coyote didn't die in every episode but he sure got the hell beat out of him) While the show did gather some controversy for its language, it was a controversy much less noisy than The Simpsons made in the late 1980's when it introduced adult content to prime time television. (The first cartoon to ever attempt adult content? Way back in 1972 for Fritz The Cat) Beavis And Butthead then took the mantle from The Simpsons for the most offensive cartoon on television and introduced us to potty-mouthed antagonists barely fit to live. South Park in its debut appeared to be just one foul mouthed cartoon too many.

In The Beginning

It's been well documented that creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker skimped on cartoon quality and made characters like Stan, Kyle and Cartman using stop motion cut out animation. Even when their show became a Comedy Central hit and received a notable budget, the animation process stayed the same, with computers reproducing the same simple drawings. The show's originality would lie in the voices and the writing, not in any superb animation or technical prowess. Kids loved South Park because the show featured pint-sized representations of themselves; kids who talked like they talked, said bad words and laughed it up. While it may have found an audience that identified with its irreverent tone, it did not impress many critics, nor even animation fans who had been spoiled by much wittier cartoons such as The Simpsons and even Steven Spielberg's Tiny Toon Adventures and Animaniacs.

Gradually, the winds in Colorado started to chill. Creators Stone and Parker, who were wise to always write and perform every show and not sell the product out to a hundred different people, started to get bored of stomping on ground that had already been demolished for quite some time. They stopped killing off Kenny every episode. They introduced more parodies and featured more celebrity cameos--that were much less cute parodies than they were slanderous gossip. They learned the standards and practices of the network and then methodically broke every rule. Even as their fan based slightly dwindled, the quality of their product improved significantly.

Bigger, Longer & Uncut (We're talking about movies, right?)

Then in 1999 Stone and Parker decided to put together a South Park full length motion picture. Oh no, just what we need, animation enthusiasts moaned. Another compromised, get-rich-quick scheme movie that begs a few dollars from its few remaining fans. And that's when I learned the secret of South Park's success: Stone and Parker do their best work when under intense scrutiny. South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was a travesty. The studio pressured the creators to make a PG-13 rated, more fan-friendly product; instead they made an NC-17 freak show. Instead of compromising with the MPAA which found many scenes of sexuality and violence too horrific for even an R rated cartoon, they made fun of the MPAA in the picture. Knowing their product would never be compared to classic animated musicals like Beauty And The Beast and The Lion King, Stone and Parker hired composer Marc Shaiman to write an Oscar-worthy original score for nonsensical and blasphemous songs like "Uncle F_ka" and "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch." The movie was prepared as a smorgasbord of bad taste; rather than disappoint their fans or the studio, they just decided to offend everyone in existence. The movie poked fun at politics, religion, celebrities, racism, patriotism, obscenity, censorship and violence. They hammered away at sensitive issues so haphazardly, Hollywood and most of the world shrunk back in terror, giving the film almost unanimous praise and even an Oscar nomination for the song "Blame Canada." Critic Roger Ebert, one of the few critics to give the movie an unfavorable rating, commented that, "Trey Parker and Matt Stone had better move on. They've taken South Park as far as it can go and beyond." A fair prediction few would have argued against at the time, but one that proved to be wrong.

Further Controversy

Episodes following the feature film became even more controversial. Stories such as "Scott Tenorman Must Die" and "Here Comes The Neighborhood" pushed the envelope in terms of what could be shown on TV. The episode featuring the character Butters entitled "Jared Has Aides" which highlighted a segment of extreme child abuse, not only offended some viewers but was taken off the air by Comedy Central after one showing. Then on the episode "It Hits The Fan", shown the same week as an NYPD Blue episode featuring the uncensored word "shit", South Park used the word 162 times in less than 30 minutes. This record nicely complemented the honor the movie reached, as compiled by The Guinness Book Of World Records, "Most Swearing In An Animated Film" with 399 expletives.

The most recent episodes of the animated series have garnered even more criticism, praise and most recently a worldwide discussion of censorship. In December 2005 the Catholic League For Religious And Civil Rights protested the episode "Bloody Mary" for its depiction of the Virgin Mary. (Yes, a "depiction" meaning a crude looking, paper mache type thing)

On March 15, 2006 the episode "Trapped In The Closet" featuring a spoof of Tom Cruise and the Church of Scientology, originally aired on November 2005 was yanked off the air, reportedly to appease offended movie star Tom Cruise, just making the rounds to promote Mission Impossible 3. Comedy Central was heavily criticized for yanking the episode, as was voice over talent Isaac Hayes (as "Chef") who allegedly quit in protest of the edgy treatment of Scientology, which happened to be his religion. The way the press understood it: you could make fun of Christianity but not Tom Cruise. You could make fun of child abuse, starvation and terrorism but not Scientology. A double standard was observed and the show's creators became media martyrs. Stone and Parker were praised by the media as proponents of free (satirical) speech and the episode would later be nominated for an Emmy. As for Chef? He was killed off in the show in the most ruthless way imaginable.

The latest controversy happened over the two part episode in April called "Cartoon Wars" when the issue of censorship was further explored over a depiction of the prophet Muhammad. The episode not only satirized Muhammad, it also took cracks at its animated competition, Family Guy and The Simpsons. Despite the fact that the issue was over censorship and not any negative portrayal of Islam, the network again caved into pressure and censored--not the episode--but the depiction of Muhammad in an episode all about censoring Muhammad. The situation was ridiculous, especially considering what South Park has gotten away with in the past, with its consistent bashing of Christianity and America.

Why It Matters Now

South Park's 15 minutes of fame have come and gone and have now returned and been extended into at least at least 23 minutes of sacrilegious glory. It should come as no great surprise that South Park is the only show on television currently hosting any controversy. Most controversy has been reserved for big feature length films like The Da Vinci Code. It's no coincidence. South Park is the only show on television that offers a strong opinion, albeit a satirical one, and the loudest voices are always the ones we listen to. Ironically, the only other shows on television that come close to eliciting as strong a response from audiences (not counting news shows like 60 Minutes or Nightline) are Family Guy and The Simpsons.

How does South Park earn such controversy? It's not through bestiality jokes or killing off zany characters anymore. The shows creative team, always Matt Stone and Trey Parker, have learned that mainstream society is most sensitive in areas of politics, religion and famous reputations. Realizing this, and feeling the scrutiny of the network, the press and the show's returning fans, they strike back without mercy, like a boxer punching away at his opponent's injured ribs. The show is at once an indictment of both liberal and conservative beliefs. It's the only show where both Michael Moore and George W. Bush can be slandered so severely and with equal time. It works as a sort of comedic "lie detector test" that brings out the worst kind hypocrisy in people, because every sick joke is something very close to a debatable truth. While every other show on television is desperate to keep viewers and lightly tread over political correctness so that everyone (mainly corporations and advertisers) is happy, South Park strives to offend people. It adheres to Stone and Parker's core belief system, namely that freedom of expression does still exist and that if we're to play the free speech game, everyone deserves to be made fun of.

It is a show that is constantly wavering in political and religious ideologies, yet it speaks with resolute confidence and cynicism. To compare it with innovative animated shows of the past like The Simpsons or Fantasia would be missing the point entirely. South Park is not a quality cartoon in the least. Yet, Stone and Parker, now in their career pinnacle, and with their own unique mix of comedy and gut-wrenching horror boiled to perfection, are comparable to such opinionated social mavericks like Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and Lars Von Trier.

The End Of South Park

On September 9, 2005 Stone and Parker signed a deal with Comedy Central for three more seasons to run the show until 2009. It's interesting to note that many of the controversial episodes and the ensuing censorship have taken place after the deal was done. Given all the animosity that's taken place it's very likely South Park will come to an end after the contract expires. Instinct tells us that South Park has hit the fan when it comes to breaking new ground and that everything that can be done has already been done. What else can Stone and Parker hope to accomplish between now and 2009?

But be careful when you taunt Matt Stone and Trey Parker. Whenever the media suggests that they've taken South Park as far as it can go and beyond, that's when the Cartman of their souls truly comes out licking tears away in vengeful sadism. South Park is the most liberated show on television and it can only get worse...much to the network's shame, the media's amusement, the fans' prayers, and lastly, for the triumph of free speech.

Anyone else insulted by news shows?

I really was hoping for hard facts about Katrina, like how much money was donated by who, and where it went. I can form my own emotions about facts. Instead it's Jimmy in 7th grade giving an I-report on how life sucks 2 years later, with Sue Smith, age 70 saying she lives in a tent. NO WONDER headline news shows will die along with The Weekly World News and The Bush Administration. HELLO.........we want facts, not pre-digested emotions soft-soaped like a mother bird feeding a baby. For Anger...choose O'riledly for an hour or the grace. For soft-soap pity..try the make-up heir or dobbs in a made up "situation" room. NO THANKS......give me facts...I'll form my own emotions, thank you.

Answer
If you want hard facts on an event that happened two years ago, you're better off looking them up online. The media normally doesn't like to give out stats and figures, because most of the time such things confuse people. Especially since this is old news, hard facts are hard to come by. This is why you're getting more soft news on Katrina then the hard news you're looking for.

The other thing you must realize is that you're an exception to what the vast majority of the public wants. Most Americans expect the media to cover this soft news, or Hollywood news, or to cover other things that aren't important. Really, we hate covering it too. If I have to see one more good reoprter be forced to waste their talents covering American Idol, I'm going to start slapping people. Most people don't want just the cold, hard facts, and if we just aired that, then even fewer people would watch the news.

Also, the media really isn't supposed to provide just cold, hard facts. If that's what you're looking for, the internet is a great resource. The media has always tried to capture the human element, because a) consumers want us to cover it and b) it's what keeps us unique from encyclopedias or other straight fact sources.

Finally, I disagree that the media is telling you what to think, or that we're telling you how you should feel about the news. When we report on human intrest stories, at the end, we don't tell you that you should feel sorry for the people at the end of it - that's you deciding that you feel sorry. I also highly doubt that news shows will die out for quite some time, and certianly not with the Bush administration.

In short, don't expect the media to cover things that it never has, or that our consumers don't want us to cover. Please stop supporting media hate. We're not trying to brainwash you or tell you how to feel. We're just out to serve the public by providing our consumers the news they want to hear as well as the news they should know about.

The TV/ Movies screenwriters strike, does this include soap writers?

lala

I read the article in Yahoo news and it mentioned that late night shows would be hard hit first. I wondered if soap writers were striking too. I love my GH! I mean they are on everyday, one would think that they would be hard hit if those writers were to go on strike!

Answer
soaps will be affected though we won't notice anything for awhile- soap generally film episodes 3 weeks in Advance of their airing and they have some scripts stockpiled for a few weeks-if the strike goes on longer than 2 months then things may change

Indeed, 90% of what is reported on the news is crap. The media is all over Mel Gibson, Tom Cruise, and Jennifer Aniston, like these people really matter in our lives. But do they report details on the latest bills going through the halls of congress? Rarely.

Of course, it's all about ratings. They report on what people actually want to see. Ergo, we have only ourselves to blame...though I think there is some factor created by what they choose to show people in the first place.

In Russia how many security guards will I need to protect me from skinheads?

AAA

I am an Australian of Asian decent and are not sure what I need to do to stay safe when I travel to Russia. According to the news the latest attack happened near the railway station. Should I only travel by car with armed guards all the time?

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/breaking-news/russian-skinheads-knife-five-foreigners/story-fn3dxity-1225926502138
edit: near the Airport

Answer
Sure Russia has nationalist spirit, but you are definitely taking it a bit too far. Most, if not all, of the skinhead attacks were conducted against people from former Soviet Union, as they are the ones who immigrate to Russia, looking for jobs, and against anti-fascist activists. Asians are pretty safe there :) I am not sure if it's even legal to carry guns in Russia without a special permission. And it isn't like those attacks just happen now and then, each one is a terrible and notable event. I know plenty of Korean students who came to Moscow to study Russian, and they all returned home safe and sound, with great memories.
I think that if you resist the urge to walk around bad neighborhoods alone at night, you would be pretty safe.

Georgia is gonna be erase out of the map by Russia?

Rey

Latest news had said that Russian soldiers are only 12 Miles out of the Georgian capital. Georgia is gonna fithg the Russia till the very end. If this happens Georgia will be eraised out of the face of Earth, unless some one does something.
Is georgia gona get aid to defend his self from Russia, will be eraise?
Damm if i was president Bush i would go to Georgia and fuck Iraq, that is gona be a massecre and the end of a US allie.
FUCK BUSH he dosent deserve to live if he lets Georgia fall like a dog.
Russia has broken their word and has send in armor vehicles to Gori on the 14.
Armor vehicles have been seen enter the city of Gori but Russians said they have no armor vehicles.
RUSSIANS ARE LIARS, they are gona unite the old USSR once again, and no one is gona stop from making a massecre.

Answer
No, it won't. Unfortunately for Russia it's not good old days.

2 Garish:
1) Claims of Genocide committed by Georgians are not confirmed by anyone. All we have is Russian accusations which given Russia's credibility worth close to nothing. Especially now, when they do need something to justify their aggression. However, HRW reported that Russian/Ossetin claims of thousands of dead are grossly inflated. Real number of dead 44, treated for wounds 273.
Simply put, it's yet another lie from Russians and S.O. separatists.

For last 3 days Russia was denying its military ever entered Georgian town Gori, now they say they will leave it in 2 days. So, how are they gonna leave a town they never entered anyway? I'm sure if western media didn't witness Russians, Cossaks and Osetians looting the city they'd never admit being there at all. I assume they were removing all dangerous items from apartment buildings that could be used against Osetia such as bikes, electronics, tv-s, etc...

2) Also, it's suspicious that Russians refuse to let anyone in the conflict zone to investigate those claims of Genocide. Interesting why... The rest of the world is incompetent to investigate and only Russian investigators can find out the truth? Or may be they need time to make the "truth"?

If you insist that the nation should be erased form the earth because of genocide wouldn't that itself be a genocide? So, you're promoting Georgian genocide now?

And finally, if you have such strong position, then it's been proven, documented and filmed by various sources including Russian that Russia was committing genocide and all sorts of atrocities against civilian population in Chechnya for 12+ years.
Do you think Russians need to be erased from the map too, or it's ok for them since they're big or help out one group of separatists while drowning in blood another group of separatists?

P.S. Even with Eu and USA support Georgia still got pounded by Russian military. Civilian population killed, looting by Russians, cossaks and Osetians was widely reported. imagine what'd happen without international support.
BTW, Russia was trying to erase Chechnya for more than 10 years and there's still resistance to marionette regime installed by Moscow in Grozny.

In the end, I don't think Russia can afford to get into another war in Caucasus as in Chechnya for multiple reasons. I.e try to occupy. Russia isn't very popular with neighbors especially on Caucasus.

Although all that is logically, practically on nationalistic motives and on "let's rebuild the might of Russian empire" slogans they can do lots of stupid things.

Conservatives "a liberal media" !?!?

jimmy j

have you ever even seen Fox news? it probably makes you piss with joy.

Answer
There is no liberal media in America.
FAIR's issue collection reveals, among other things, how the mass media
have helped create the myth that social security is failing, paving the way for the realization of one of the right's political wet dreams: privatization of social security
perpetuate conservative myths about wellfare and simultanously turn a blind eye to corporate wellfare
sensationalize street crime and ignore corporate crime
treat religious right groups such as the Promise Keepers with kid's gloves and thus help legitimize them in the public perception
generally avoid reporting on the lunatic fringe of the right, such as militias, neo-Nazis and anti-abortion terrorists, and in particular, avoid examining the personal and ideological connections these groups have to the Republican party
created the perception that there is widespread popular opposition to affirmative action when in fact most people support it
all but ignore waste, mismanagment and corruption in the military-industrial complex, especially as it relates to the planned missile defense system
downplayed protests against the IMF, the World Bank and the WTO by portraying protestors as leftist fringe groups, communists and anarchists
report corporate PR as legitimate scientific research.
Not exactly surprising, considering that corporate sponsors have a vested interest in supporting pro-business voices, and suppressing progressive ones.

How did "Reuters" get so popular and worldly?

Boycott Ho

I always hear "according to Reuters". Why?

Answer
Reuters was the first international news and stock exchange news service in the world, started by Baron Von Reuter in the late 1890's. Baron Von Reuter was a German who migrated to Britain and founded the Reuters News agency, first with 'carrier pigeons' transporting stock news and then general news stories. He constantly expanded upon the business until Reuters became the largest News and Stock Exchange /Financial News service in the world.

Reuters started a photographic service in 1982 and they took over VISNEWS, an international TV news syndication service, in the 1990's.

Help with German article??

alright so I found this article in German about popular names and i understand some of it but I was wondering if anyone could help me summorize the main ideas of this article

Thanks a million!

Answer
Hmm, there's not much to summarize, it's just lots of words with not really much of content. It's just about the most popular names, that the statistics of 2007 are not done yet and the the most popular names are not THAT often as people think, the most popular about 1 percent each. Besides that they mention that there still is a difference between the former two parts of Germany and that certain things like they hype of Berlin's icebear Knut or the name of pop singer Sarah Connor's child influenced this year's names a little bit.

who likes gossip, who indulges in gossip, and how harmful is gossip,?

mark v

please do not tell, who gossips, only first names, and do you recall a time where the person or persons you were gossiping about really were hurt, example like lost a job or spouse, or large amount of money, or what have you, thank you for all answers, has anyone refrained from gossiping, and avoided gossiping, please give examples, but do not go into too much detail. thanks

Answer
Gossip can harm our soul
It's human nature to wonder what's going on in other people's lives. We speculate and surmise about them, wonder about their personal life and work success or failure, and so on. We then discuss our thoughts about them, and the titbits of knowledge we might have about their lives, with other people. Gossip is in essence discussing someone else's business when they aren't present

The harm done by gossip
Apart from celebrities who want to be talked about, there's a lot of harm that can be done by gossip. Even when no harm's intended, the problem with gossip is what starts as 'harmless' can sometimes develop into the harmful type. Like 'Chinese whispers' the gossip can alter in form as it moves outward from the initial gossips. By the time it's moved to another group of people it might've morphed into something negative and hurtful.

Also it may simply be private information the person wants to keep secret. Let's go back to 'Sarah' with the newly-dyed red hair. Discussing her hair colour is one thing but saying, 'Did you know Sarah's boyfriend cheated on her?' is another. It discloses something that 'Sarah' probably wants to keep private.

Gossip is also harmful because untruths and half-truths are told as if true. It doesn't give the person a choice about whether or not they want to be discussed, it can spin out of control, and can create an atmosphere of cliques particularly in the office, and this facilitates bullying.

Remember the game, GOSSIP? This "icebreaker," used often in team-building workshops, is a great exercise to illustrate how quickly information can become misinformation. The person who begins the game writes a message on a piece of paper then tells it, as a secret, to player two. Delivery of the message continues, from person to person, until everyone has heard the secret. Then, the last person repeats what he (or she) believes was heard, out loud, followed by reading of the message (from the paper) by the person who started the game. The two messages typically differ in direct proportion to how many people participated in the exercise. This illustrates, quickly, how careful we need to be when we repeat something we hear from someone else.

Nowadays I receive too many Emails that remind me of GOSSIP. These particular messages often have "urgent" or "thought you should see this" or "pass this on" (and sometimes, "suggestion for your newsletter") typed into the subject line. The forwarded messages are accompanied by lengthy lists of the people who've received them before I did and the first sentence often says, "I checked this out before sending it to you," or "I trust the person who sent this to me." followed by an outrageous health hazard or opportunity for me to get something for almost nothing if I'll simply, "pass the message on."

This week I received two pieces of gossip from several sources. The first promised that if I forwarded the message to my friends I'd somehow end up with a gift certificate from The GAP. The second was more frightening. It warned me that some tampon manufacturers had added asbestos to their tampons to perpetuate lengthening of a woman's menstrual cycle and, therefore, sell more tampons.

None of the people who sent me the message checked to see if it was true before forwarding it to me (and probably many other "friends" on their mailing list). The reason I know they didn't check it out is because I did. Both are untrue.

The GAP has great ads on television these days, but they're not giving out web generated gift certificates. As for asbestos, it is a toxic substance when inhaled. I don't know anyone who is lighting up tampons and inhaling asbestos--even if it was in tampons. As for perpetuating bleeding, tampons, in case you haven't seen one, are padded with absorbent cotton--that's what makes them work successfully. Even if a tampon had asbestos fibers in it, I guarantee you it wouldn't be on the outside where it might irritate tender tissue--no woman would tolerate the insertion process. But, think about it. No matter what you think about our government, it is not in a conspiracy with tampon companies to injure us.
I know my friends believe gossip is harmful, dangerous and, certainly nothing they would want to perpetuate. So, I'm inviting them, and all my readers, to think twice before they relay the dire messages they receive back into cyberspace on the out and out chance they "might" be true. Consider also that if there is such a thing as "karma" that sending potentially erroneous (especially fearful) information to others is a set up for some scary experiences of your own. And, if you want to help yourself, and others, to better health--relay your favorite exercise or smart eating habit in hopes it will make their life in this world a better one.

Is there any new information about the 5 year old Florida girl Haleigh Cummings who went missing?

Lilly Ann

Answer
I just looked up the latest news about the story and they said they have some new leads to check up on as of today. I guess they said they talked to new people they may have missed and found out some things and also set up a car checkpoint. They also stated that they are following up on the girlfriend's timeline statement(s).

I am praying harder then I have ever prayed for little Haleigh. If she is found alive and well I wish I could adopt her so she could have a real life. A safe loving life!

How can someone do this to their own Child? :/ Details inside->?

Missing Girl's Mom Charged With Human Trafficking
N.C. Authorities Believe Shaniya Davis, 5, May Have Been Sold Into Prostitution

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (CBS)-The location and fate of a 5-year-old girl reported missing by her mother was unknown even after authorities charged the mother with human trafficking and other offenses.

Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of Shaniya Davis, faces a child abuse charge involving prostitution as well as filing a false police report, according to a Saturday news release from the Fayetteville Police Department.

Shaniya was reported missing from her home, at 1116-A Sleepy Hollow Drive, on Tuesday morning. Her mother told police she put Shaniya on a couch at 5:30 a.m., but the girl was gone when she checked on her about an hour later, according to CBS affiliate WRAL-TV in Raleigh.

The child seen Tuesday when surveillance footage recorded the man charged with kidnapping Shaniya carrying her into a hotel room.

The release did not say whether the charges were related to her daughter's disappearance, but The Fayetteville Observer reported that arrest records indicated they were.

According to arrest documents cited by the newspaper, Davis "knowingly provide(d) Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in sexual servitude" and she "permit(ted) an act of prostitution."

Rest of the story is on this link->

http://kdka.com/national/mother.charged.north.2.1313176.html

Answer
I have been following Shaniya's story very closely.

I cannot tell you how someone could do this to their own child, but I can tell you that in some religions, mothers sacrifice their daughters to their husbands to have sex.

There is no logical reason someone would do this, but there are also a lot of horrible people walking around these days.

If you know anything, please tell the media or your local authorities. Far too many children are going missing and far too many stories have sad endings.

We really need to stop hassling the guy with the joint, and start keeping better track of the sex-offenders who seem to be everywhere these days.

We owe it to our children to protect them.

Edison NJ police detective is charged with shoplifting from local supermarket?

Edison police detective is charged with shoplifting from local supermarket
by Tom Haydon/The Star-Ledger
Wednesday April 01, 2009, 8:15 PM

An Edison police detective with 22 years on the force faces a charge of shoplifting from a township supermarket, but his lawyer called the allegation baseless.

David Yanvary, 54, is accused of taking $42 worth of items from a store on March 17, Edison Police Director Bryan Collier confirmed today.
Chris Faytok/The Star-LedgerEdison police officer David Yanvary walks out of police headquarters in Edison today. Yanvary, a 22 year veteran on the force, is accused of shoplifting at a local supermarket. 4:12:34 PM

"This department has drawn a line in the sand. Misconduct of any kind will not be tolerated. The tax-paying public and the men and woman of this police department deserve no less," Collier said.

He declined to comment further on the charges.

Yanvary, who worked for the township nearly eight years before joining the police force for a total of more than 29 years of service, has filed for retirement.

Timothy Smith, a South Orange lawyer representing Yanvary, said his client filed for retirement more than a week ago.

"He wasn't serve with the charge until late yesterday. It's totally unrelated. One has nothing to do with the other," Smith said. He called shoplifting charge "baseless" and said "we're very confident he will be totally vindicated," Smith said.

He claimed the charge was filed by a vindictive supermarket manager. Yanvary had receipts for the merchandise, Smith said.

When Mayor June Choi took office in 2006, he called for stronger leadership, accountability and discipline to the force, which suffered a string of embarrassing incidents involving its officers in the past.

Last year, in a shake-up of the department, Choi tapped Collier, a former federal drug enforcement agent, to be township police director.

Answer
So what is your question? This news article is from April 1 - April Fools Day! But I don't think it's a joke...actually it's a shameful way for a police officer to go out. I hope he really does have receipts and is found innocent of the charges - after all, it took a couple weeks for the grocery store manager to come forward with the charges.

By the way, in my area (Ohio), the Olmsted Township Police Chief had to resign from his job last Friday after getting caught in a park with another man and is facing sex charges. And the Olmsted Falls high school band director was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in prison today for having sex with one of his students. Both of these are worse than possible shoplifting. But why wouldn't a police officer have enough money to pay for his groceries?

correction to strongest bite?

mystikalgo

Sept. 15, 2003 â Cheetahs chomp hard and even humans can bite through an ear, but one animal reigns supreme when it comes to possessing the strongest bite â the alligator.

American alligators, Alligator mississippiensis, have the most powerful bite force ever measured. According to a recent study published in the Journal of Zoology of London, alligators snap their strong jaws shut with a force of 2,125 pounds, or with about as much force as a mid-size sedan falling on top of someone.

The 2,125-pound measured bite came from a 12 1/2 foot alligator weighing 665 pounds, appropriately named Hercules. Since completion of the study, that impressive record was broken.

"Bite force is linked to the size of an animal," explained Kent Vliet, a University of Florida zoologist who headed up the study. "Since the report was published, we measured the bite of a wild gator, even bigger than Hercules at 13 1/2 feet in length missing the end of his tail. He bit down with a force of 2,960 pounds."

Measuring the champion chompers took Crocodile Hunter tactics, since the otherwise mellow alligators would not voluntarily attack the metal "bite bars" created by Vliet and his colleagues. Similar to tuning forks, the bars contained strain gauges that measured force.

Vliet had to lasso his subjects and secure them to a backboard. The process understandably annoyed the alligators, which caused them to bite down with defensive strength.

"We covered the bars with leather to prevent tooth damage, but in our videotapes you can see small chips and slivers of teeth flying off, which tells us the alligators were approaching their biting limits," Vliet told Discovery News.

To put the record measurement into perspective, hyenas, which are bone-crushing mammals, have a bite force of 1,000 pounds, slightly more than the 940 recorded for lions. Dusky sharks manage 330 pounds of force, and a common dog, the Labrador, bites with 125 pounds of force. Humans surprisingly beat out the pet dog, and measured in at 170 pounds of force.

It is still not a good idea to mess with a shark or lion.

"There is a lot more to biting and feeding ecology that brute jaw force," explained Vliet. "Lions, for example, have scissor-like teeth, while those of an alligator are blunt and pointed."

While it is unclear why alligators have such powerful jaws, Vliet said it could help them to incapacitate prey and munch on one of their favorite foods, turtles. When consuming turtles, gators eat both the shell and meat.

The study may also reveal information about dinosaurs.

"Crocodilians, such as the alligator, are the closest living relatives to dinosaurs," said Gregory Erickson, a professor of anatomy and vertebrate paleobiology at Florida State University in Tallahassee. "Their jaws, teeth and musculature provide an excellent model for the feeding biomechanics of these extinct beasts."

Erickson and Vliet indicated that small theropods, or bipedal carnivorous dinosaurs, bit down with no more than 450 pounds of force, but Tyrannosaurus rex may have been the world's most impressive biter with a force of around 3,300 pounds

Answer
I just fished out January 2009's Discover magazine and found that large great white sharks have a more powerful bite: "The bite of the largest of white sharks turns out to be not only the most powerful for any living species yet measured, but probably amongst the most powerful even for any extinct species." The article later states that a shark measuring 21 feet long and weighing 7,300 pounds could bite with a force of 4,000 pounds. I'm still impressed that an alligator can bite with more pounds of force than it weighs, though.

What Type Of Jellyfish Did I see?

Hi my name is Jessie and today I went to the beach with my mom and brother and me and my brother went into the water and we saw a jellyfish that was about the size of this, without the strap included: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://shopelegantwomansstoreofbeauty.com/images/Black-and-White-Print-Canvas-Purse-DPRSKA31.jpg&imgrefurl=http://shopelegantwomansstoreofbeauty.com/index.php%3FcPath%3D102&usg=__nXWQAmZpAJlbK4f_O3Jo34RxThU=&h=800&w=800&sz=66&hl=en&start=17&tbnid=TfAU98TFW73HfM:&tbnh=117&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpurse%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1362%26bih%3D528%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C317&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=113&vpy=192&dur=16&hovh=225&hovw=225&tx=128&ty=161&oei=PvZpTP7kGIbUtQP3noDmBQ&esq=2&page=2&ndsp=27&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:17&biw=1362&bih=528

It was whitish/clearish, and it had like lightish darkish patches on it. Sorry I could explain it a bit clearer, but as soon as I saw it I ran out of the water, so I didn't get a very clear view. My brother also saw it, and we told our mom. I'm 13 and he's 14, btw. We're not lying or making this up. The color of the head thingy was this: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.atpartsonline.com/shop/a/autopartsprofessionalonline/img-lib/spd_20080519215709_b.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.atpartsonline.com/product-en-0-1600219-Auto%2BPro.%2BNew%2BLH%2BClear%2BWhite%2BColor%2BBlinker%2BLamp%2BMercedes%2BBenz%2BW123%2B230%2B240D%2B300D%2B230E%2B280E%2B(Depo).html&usg=__r3wN3C4cX4yLbYIgSphkRa7rjq0=&h=480&w=640&sz=52&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=CmVyGQVz9YaJiM:&tbnh=136&tbnw=183&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dclearish%2Bwhitish%2Bcolor%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1362%26bih%3D528%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=rc&dur=390&ei=rvZpTOryFInEsAO66JHmBQ&oei=rvZpTOryFInEsAO66JHmBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=12&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0&tx=121&ty=58

and the patches was like this color: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.glassblower.info/Tony-Patti-2008-Glass-Art/light-blue-dark-blue-closed-bowl.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.glassblower.info/Tony-Patti-2008-Glass-Art/Tony-Patti-2008-Glass-Art.html&usg=__XZ5Irvt-i8PjrFsv2aDAZIBSH4A=&h=2280&w=2245&sz=527&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=n7odqfN-isT6qM:&tbnh=122&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlightish%2Bdarkish%2Bblue%26hl%3Den%26biw%3D1362%26bih%3D528%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=115&vpy=188&dur=483&hovh=226&hovw=223&tx=149&ty=102&ei=0fZpTOOoGpP2tgPom5HmBQ&oei=0fZpTOOoGpP2tgPom5HmBQ&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0

Do you know what type of Jellyfish this is? I'm like shaken up right now because I also saw two sharks today. we were at the del mar beach today in san diego and the whole shark thing was on the news, so im not lying. also, the shark was like a dark grey or black color and all i saw was its back and fin on its back area. what type of shark was it? is it deadly? it didnt attack anyone because there were a lot of surfers around it. i think i saw two sharks, but maybe just one. it bobbed in and out of the water a lot and it was really scary. so, heres the major question:
1. what type of jellyfish was it?
2. Is it deadly/dangerous?
3. what type of shark was it? it looked pretty big and i know its not a great white
4. is it deadly/dangerous?
and also my 8 y/o cousin went to the beach with his mom and bro and he got stung by a stingray at the same beach, and i just wanted 2 know why all these creatures have been coming so shallow these days. thank you so much i appreciate it and im not lying!! thanks! no rude answers please!

Answer
first off, sorry this is such a long answer, but please read the whole thing because i want you to understand something that i will talk about later on in my answer. to identify the jellyfish and sharks you saw, i would need a more specific description, sorry. but if the jellyfish was completely clear with coloring and the lightish darkish patches were just thinner layers of the jellyfish and not red or anything then it's completely harmless. colorless jellyfish can't sting you. many of them wash ashore and you can just pick it up and throw it back in, but you HAVE to make sure there's no coloring on it. there are about 400 different species of sharks and majority of them have a dark grey color, so i can't really identify it for you. any coloring on the tips of the sharks fins, the shape of the tail would be a great help, but it's kind of hard to describe the tail. now here's what i want you to learn, i'm going to tell you right now, and you may think i'm crazy but it's true: sharks are generally passive, non-agressive creatures. they are not interested in you and if they are, they're just curious. you are more likely to get KILLED by a coconut than a shark; more people die a year from getting hit with coconuts than shark attacks. you are more likely to get bitten by another human being than a shark. and one of the more famous ones, you are more likely to get struck by lightning than getting bitten by a shark. sharks don't deserve their man-eating reputation because those shark attacks happened probably because the shark thought they were seals. i mean have a friend lie down on a boogie board with their arms and legs sticking out, you'll see they look somewhat like a seal. other shark attacks happen because the sharks are just curious. they don't have hands to feel with and we can't communicate with them, so their "hands" is their mouth and nose. i'm typing all this info up because i don't want anyone to be afraid of sharks, instead, we should be afraid FOR them. pretty much all sharks are on the endangered species list, and some are close to going extinct. sharks are SO important to the ocean, and we're killing them off and giving them man-eating reputations they don't deserve. you can think i'm crazy, or believe what you want and think sharks are man-eating creatures, but think about what they think of us. us humans kill about 26-73 MILLION sharks EACH YEAR, and sharks kill maybe 4-10 people each year, which isn't much considering there's about 6 billion of us. instead of being afraid of sharks, PLEASE stand up for them. i know this whole thing isn't what you asked for in your question, but i'm just trying to save and conserve and spread the word that sharks need our help and we shouldn't be afraid of them. however, if a shark DOES get close to you, is circling around you, or you feel threatened by it then be prepared to punch the nose which is one of the most sensitive parts of their body or poke the shark's eye if it gets close enough. also to answer your last question about stingrays, stingrays do live in shallow waters, so they sort of belong there. however, the recent occurance with sharks near the shallows is a mystery. scientists just don't know why yet.

what songs did Celine Dion sing at Birmingham BJCC Arena?

Tonya

I really want this song that she sung. Dion performed on January 09, 2009; 8 p.m. Thursday, BJCC Arena.

Answer
Think of this, if you will, as "Celine by the Songs."
It's an attempt to trace the career of a pop superstar, in broad strokes, using tunes from her catalog as thematic markers.

Celine Dion's life undoubtedly has been rich, complex and nuanced, capable of producing a thick, authorized biography or a chunky celebrity tell-all.

We're ready to hit the high points, however, and offer some fun facts to know and share at Dion's Thursday concert in Birmingham. Here goes:

"Only One Road": Dion was born March 30, 1968, and grew up as part of a poor family with 14 children in Charlemagne, Quebec. Her fate was sealed at age 12, when she was discovered by manager Rene Angelil. Within a few years, she had won a handful of prestigious vocal contests at home and abroad, and begun to record professionally.

"If That's What It Takes": Initial successes in France -- where Dion earned gold records for singles such as "D'amour ou d'amitie" ("Love or Friendship") -- didn't satisfy her ambitions. Dion's goal, even as a youth, was to become an international star. (Her role model at the time: Michael Jackson.) For that, the gawky teen needed to master English and undergo a physical makeover, among other things.

"At Last": Her U.S. breakthrough came with the 1990 album "Unison." Dion began to work with producer David Foster and released singles such as "Where Does My Heart Beat Now," which reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.

"I'm Loving Every Moment With You": Dion's career got a boost from a 1991 duet with Peabo Bryson on the title song from Walt Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." It won an Oscar, a Golden Globe and two Grammys. Small wonder, then, that the tune was featured on Dion's self-titled album in 1992. The disc also featured tracks from one of her signature collaborators, Diane Warren.

"The Last to Know": Dion and her mentor, Angelil, became a couple but initially chose to conceal their romantic relationship from the public. One reason: the age difference. Angelil was 26 years her senior and had nurtured her career as an adolescent. Dion took a risk by announcing her feelings in the liner notes of a 1993 album, "The Colour of My Love." But fans embraced their courtship and the two were wed in 1994.

SPECIAL
Celine Dion's last appearance in Birmingham was in 1999 at the BJCC Arena. "J'irai ou tu iras" ("I'll Go Where You Go"): Dion continued to expand her fame in the '90s with singles such as "The Power of Love." She released material in English and in French, developing separate and successful catalogs. Occasionally, an album would score as a crossover, despite the language barriers. That was the case for 1995's "D'eux." It was renamed "The French Album" in the United States.
"To Love You More": Dion became an unstoppable force on the pop charts during the mid- to late 1990s. Two recordings in particular -- 1996's "Falling Into You" and 1997's "Let's Talk About Love" -- catapulted her into the realm of superstardom. The latter disc included a smash hit, "My Heart Will Go On," the soaring love theme from the movie "Titanic."

"Prayer": Dion's New Year's resolution for 2000: to take a break from the music world. She lowered her profile, practiced her golf, tried to duck the paparazzi and began caring for Angelil, who was diagnosed with throat cancer. Gossip magazines ignored Dion's pleas for privacy, trumpeting reports of fertility treatments. She gave birth to a son, Rene-Charles, in 2001.

"A New Day Has Come": Las Vegas came calling, and helped Dion to resurrect her career in 2002-2003. Caesars Palace offered a multi-year contract, a mansion and new, 4,000-seat arena that would accommodate special effects. For her Vegas extravaganza, "A New Day," Dion enlisted the help of Franco Dragone, one of the prime movers of Cirque du Soleil. The show's title came from Dion's 2002 CD, "A New Day Has Come," which entered Billboard's albums chart at No. 1. Dion released another disc, "One Heart," in 2003.

"I'm Alive": Fans flocked to "A New Day" for nearly five years, paying triple-digit sums to attend performances from March 2003 to December 2007. Critical reaction was mixed, but tickets sold out routinely, earning millions for Dion in the process.

Why are Justin Beiber and One Direction fans the most annoying people on earth?

Joker

Whenever i meet a girl who likes them, its always bad. Shes always costantly talking about them with ppl, shes always watching videos of them, sharing and likig their pics on Facebook, even those dumb "Like for JB, ignore for Satan" type pics. Also making up random dumb names like Beleibers and Directioners and some other stuff. And they seem to be the most butthurt ppl. Like if theres a guy obsessed with Eminem, and someone says "Eminem sucks", the guy would maybe try defending Eminem for a bit, then drop the subject. But "Belibers" dont. They will constantly try to save him and make you like him.

Like idk why its just with them. When a girl likes Katy Perry, its normal. If you like 50 Cent, its normal. If you like Nirvana, its normal. If you like David Bowe, its normal. But once u like Justin Beiber, its lik u become the most annoying person. Whyyyyy

Answer
Well, I can shut the Justin Bieber fans up at least: https://glossynews.com/entertainment/celebrity-gossip/201301120357/bodyguard-sues-wrong-bieber-out-of-shame/

How to get popular on Youtube?

Tommy

I have a gaming channel and I REALLY want to get popular on Youtube. My videos aren't crappy, so if you don't mind check it out here:

http://www.youtube.com/user/MrCommanderTroll?feature=mhee

How can I get my channel more popular? How can I earn more subscribers? I really need help, thanks!

Answer
1. Add your YouTube video to video search engines.

2. Make smart, search engine optimized (SEO) titles and descriptions. Tell your YouTube viewers what your online video about with carefully chosen words. Think ahead and ask yourself, "What will people be searching for?" If you are making a YouTube video about the stock market, use terms that someone interested in the stock market will search for.

3. Brand your video! Create a logo in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. Add it to all of your videos. If someone steals it, which can happen online (many people use Keepvid.com to steal YouTube videos), your brand will still be on the video. In your brand, include the address of your web site or blog where a viewer can find the original movie content.

4. Promote your videos on MySpace and Facebook. Both social network websites offer easy ways to upload or link to YouTube videos so that all of your friends can view them and tell their friends, as well.

5. Stay ahead of the trends. A way to easily make popular videos is to make them about popular topics in the news or on television. Did Britney Spears do something crazy again? Make a video about it and post it on YouTube. When people search for it on Google or on the online video search engines, they will find it and watch it! It's a natural way to create popular YouTube content and make money.

6. Investigate which of your YouTube videos are doing well using Google Analytics and YouTube Insight and copy what made them successful.

7. Tell people about your YouTube videos using RSS feeds from your personal blog. I would recommend Feedburner.com as a great place to start with RSS feeds.

8. Include a link to your YouTube account in all of your emails. Put it in your email signature. Even when your friends forward your email, it will be included in the body of the message, spreading the word about your YouTube videos and increasing your chances of finding new YouTube viewers.

9. Make "video responses" on YouTube. Go to a video that has a lot of views and comments, and click "create a video response." Now, your video will be linked to the popular video!

10. And don't forget to ALWAYS backup your YouTube videos on your computer. If something happens, you do not want to lose your movies! Backing up your computer is better than having to re-film all of your YouTube videos.

With these tricks of the trade, you can easily make some money on YouTube through search engine optimization and smart promoting of your YouTube content.
