It's been spread around in the news about the great upcoming earthquake in los angeles for the past couple of years. I researched on the internet and found out that the center of the earthquake is the Puente Hill fault, which is exactly where I live. Anyone know about when the earthquake is going to occur?
Answer
I hope it does not happen. What I usually do is I check the earthquake map like every other day and I have noticed that we have had a couple of them and I have not felt them at all.
Here is link that will show a map of the earthquakes.

Why does it seem that earthquakes and volcanoes are happening more frequently lately.?

I've been on this earth for 24 years. As far as i can remember, I've never seen it this bad. I've always like watching the news since i was a kid. So i remember all the big ones. People say, it is just because we have been paying more attention and there's more media coverage. Well there has always been media coverage and we've always been paying a attention. Is that these disasters are just more powerful and deadly. Just in the past 2 0r 3 days, the volcano under the pacific ocean erupted, volcano in Ecuador erupted and volcano in Guatemala erupted recently. Just seems like everything is firing up at the same time.
I swear every time i get on my computer each day, A volcano has erupted or an earthquake as happened somewhere in the world.
Yes a natural occurrence, but can cause world wide destruction and devastation. there could be world turmoil one day at the rate we're going in this activity. It just take one mega quake or mega volcano to change that.
Answer
Small earthquakes happen everay day, and larger ones occur fairly often. There are also a lot of earthquake prone areas volcanoes which occasionally errupt, especially in Iceland and the Pacific Rim. All these disasters are normal. Efficient, global news coverage and a globalized society, especially in poorer, more remote areas has only been developed in the past several decades. Things like TV and internet make us able to hear about things quickly which we would not find out at all until much later (when it really wouldn't matter). More news coverage is centered on earthquakes and volcanoes lately (because that's what people want to hear), but recently eclipsed by the Gulf oil spill. The 2012 nonsense has also increased the fears and "awareness" of the too many people who believe it. Even if there is an increase, then there just is and it's nothing spectacular, certainly nothing to do with the end of the world. Earthquakes and volcanoes are natural and occur often, sometimes more frequentluy than other times.
There have been major volcanoes and earthquakes in the past - yes, much more devastating than recent ones- not that long ago and life and society went on and cities were rebuilt. Examples in the last 200 years include: Volcanoes: Tambora, Krakatau, Mt. St. Helens and Earthquakes: San Francisco, Alaska, Tokyo, etc. People who live in areas prone to earthquakes, such as Tokyo, or volcanoes, such as Iceland and Hawaii, learn to live with them. Tokyo, a world economic center, is constantly threatened by sometimes devastating earthquakes, but continues to be a major city.
Perhaps a supervolcano would cause a volcanic winter, famine, destruction, etc., but even that wouldn't wipe out the human race, even though it almost did in the past when there were far fewer people with much less technology.
