why do people make celebrities out to be more than they really are?

RT

Answer
Because celebrities have publicists. It's their job to market their client as the best thing ever so they can get movie deals, push products, and make people money. The problem is that the general public (and by general I mean morons) start to believe these marketing tactics. The gossip shows, the movie roles, and other things create this fantasy perception that the celebrity is greater than they really are. Even the celebrities start to buy into it and their ego gets bigger and bigger until no one can humble them except a lawsuit or South Park. Classic Capitalism - the more profits you can make people, the more valuable you are. Even if in real life you are a scumbag.
