News is always a safe bet. Celebrity type stuff or cool news that's going around. Such as that zombie craze a few weeks back. Just keep making videos that are current with the news and you are very likely to turn up in searches. I did one video about the zombie news when it was hot and got 6x my normal views and about 10 subscribers just from that one video.

Covers of newly released songs also do good if you are musical.

If you play games, do gameplay videos of games as soon as they come out. (This one can be rather expensive.)

News is always a safe bet. Just see what's popular on Yahoo, Huffington Post, or any popular site like that. Reddit is a good one. Tell people a bit about it in a unique manner, provide some links and BAM. You're a hub for news and cool stuff on the Internet. Even if you don't want to be too newsy and just make jokes about the news. (Almost like Weekend Update from SNL). That would work really well.

Skits and comedy videos are a lot harder sell because they do not turn up in searches on account of them just being relevant to themselves. BUT, if you want to make them, then I encourage it.

Everything on YouTube has an audience. If you are making good stuff, it doesn't matter your genre, people will find you (eventually). News is always a solid start. Just remember to tag what you're talking about and ask your friends to check you out!

How to be the first to know about fashion trends?

I want to be the first to sport the news trends. What is popular now are TOMS, hair feathers, UGGs, SPERRY...but the problem is everyone has this stuff and I don't want to be in the crowd..I don't want to look the same. When I find out about new fashions it's too late...is there a website to tell you about new trends and does anyone have any new trends (new brands of shoes, jewelry etc.)

idk if this will help you but what I do for finding out about new fashion trends is go to bubzbeauty.com and michellephan.com they are makeup/beauty/style experts they are also on youtube. they update new posts about what's hot and what's not in trends. go check em out ;) hope this helps you

how do I get a local news show to do a story on my business?

I am getting ready to start a new business. I have seen morning news shows do a story on other local businesses and I was wondering how I go about getting them to do one on mine. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you look at your business just as you would with composing a business plan.

Make a list of all the things you are doing that are not done elsewhere.

Then take these examples and combine them with other trends in the area or nation, and especially events reported on the news.

If national marketing statistics indicate a new or renewed interest in your business, then combine this information with visual examples to interest a news team.

If I knew about your business, I might be able to help more. But just as an example: Heading into Recession, pawn shops and betting parlors are becoming more popular, as are used-clothing outlets and swap shops.

These might be local businesses which are different and newsworthy.

Just opening a hairdressing shop like any other hairdressing shop would not be of interest, and most likely will be on the list of businesses feeling the economic pinch with fewer customers each month.

With restaurants expected to close due to the economic downturn, then what is being done at this restaurant to blunt the impact?

Once you have put your finger on something newsworthy, then contact the local newspaper and television stations with your news tip. For the newspaper, make sure you contact the type of reporter (business, lifestyle, science, environmental etc.) who might be interested.

I have two small posters about 14x20" that have information about "the day you were born" and one says "in the beginning..." I am looking for this to put in my child's bedroom, does anyone know what I am talking about or any way of finding one of these. In my opinion Facebook will still posses its longevity for years to come. Just because your friends in school utilising it less does not mean it is less relevant for other people. On that note I think it would make an excellent article that can delve into debate and discussion between people you go to school with.

The reason I believe in its longevity is because it has the ability to change with trends among its users and users of other social networking sites, which other social networking sites that have fallen off (namely MySpace) have failed to do at the right time.
