like al capone and does anyone know the names of the couple that robbed places together during that time period?

Answer
The couple you're thinking of is likely Bonnie and Clyde (Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow) tho there were other less well known but equally interesting bandit couples of the period, such as Ed and Cecelia Cooney ("The Bobbed-Haired Bandit") and Bennie Dickson and his wife "Sure Shot" Stella.

Other interesting gangsters and outlaws of the period, besides Al Capone, included John Dillinger, Dutch Schultz, Legs Diamond, Mad Dog Coll, Lucky Luciano, Pretty Boy Floyd, and Baby Face Nelson. The gangster era also brought the rise of the FBI and made celebrities of J. Edgar Hoover and Melvin Purvis.

Political figures: Warren G. Harding, Herbert Hoover, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Huey Long, Al Smith, Tom Pendergast, Thomas E. Dewey. Internationally, Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Chiang Kai Shek, Hitler, and Franco all rose to prominence in this period.

Will Rogers was a much beloved humorist, entertainer and commentator of the period who died in a plane crash along with famed aviator Wiley Post.

Other aviation heroes:
Charles Lindbergh, first man to fly solo across the Atlantic, whose son was later kidnapped and murdered by Bruno Hauptmann. And Amelia Earhart, Lindbergh's female counterpart who disappeared in the Pacific. And General Billy Mitchell, who got court-martialed over his defiance of the War Department in insisting that the future of warfare lay in airplanes capable of bombing and sinking enemy ships.

Popular sports figures included "Shoelace Joe" Jackson, Babe Ruth, Knute Rockne, Bobby Jones, Jack Dempsey, and Joe Louis.

Entertainers of the day included Lon Chaney Sr. and Lon Chaney Jr., John Barrymore, Charles Chaplin, Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, Jean Harlow, Al Jolson, Laurel and Hardy, Mae West, Boris Karloff, the Marx Brothers, and Shirley Temple.

Walter Winchell and Edward R. Murrow were a couple of well known news comentators.

Writers of the day included F. Scott Fitzgerald, John Steinbeck, Theodore Dreiser, and John Dos Passos.

The list of interesting people from this period is truly endless:
Henry Ford, Poncho Villa, John D. Rockefeller, William Randolph Hearst, Clarence Darrow, Samuel Liebowitz, Mother Jones, Alice B. Toklas, Woody Guthrie, Django Reinhardt, Robert Johnson, W.C. Fields, etc. One really can't even begin to scratch the surface in any category. Hundreds of names could be added to all of the above.
