Two are charged in fatal shooting at I-10 Marq*e / The victim, 25, was killed outside club at complex late last month

Charges have been filed against two men in the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Michael Gutierrez in the parking lot of the popular Marq*e Entertainment Center at 7620 Katy Freeway.
Gutierrez was shot as he walked from his car toward a restaurant where he had planned to meet a friend. The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
Joseph Dennis Lewis , 25, has been charged with murder in the 178th State District Court. According to criminal court records, Lewis' criminal record dates to 1997, when he pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 240 days in state prison.
He was convicted of the same offense in 1998, when he was sentenced to 16 months in state prison, and again in 2000, when he was convicted and sentenced to 9 months in prison.
In 2001, Lewis pleaded guilty to evading detention by a police officer, and in 2002 to "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle."
The second suspect, Shelton DeWayne Strawder, 22, has been charged with tampering with evidence in the 178th District Court, "for his actions following the murder," according to Houston police Homicide Division Sgt. G. Gonzales and Officer M.S. Walker.
Both Lewis and Strawder are being held in the Harris County jail.
Gutierrez was on his way to meet a friend when witnesses heard a single gunshot and observed a dark blue or black, four-door, mid-sized sedan leaving the scene.
Gutierrez ran a short distance and then collapsed in the parking lot near Drink Houston, a bar in the same entertainment complex.
HPD investigators said they think the shooting was drug-related.
Two days later, a fight inside Drink Houston sent two patrons to the hospital. Just before 2 a.m. Feb. 24, John Tenorio, 34, was stabbed in the chest and back. Mario Sandoval, 30, was struck in the face with a bottle. Both were treated at Ben Taub General Hospital.
The incidents prompted the complex to increase its security staff. Off-duty police officers and sheriff's deputies also were called in to help with security at the complex, which features a theater, several restaurants and a comedy club.

Police presence heavy at MARQ*E after violent crimes / Tense parents also keep a careful watch on children at the popular spot
By ANNE MARIE KILDAY, SALATHEIA BRYANT

George Matezos wasn't taking any chances as he stood outside the MARQ*E Entertainment Center trying to stay close - but not "too "close - to his daughter and her four friends Friday night.
"I'm watching to make sure they get into the movies OK," Matezos said. "After what happened out here this week, you never know. It's bad for stuff to be happening like this. This place is a good place for kids."
Matezos wasn't alone. There was a visible police and strong parental presence Friday after two violent crimes in two days at the popular entertainment venue in west Houston left one man dead and two others wounded in unrelated attacks. One man was shot Wednesday and another man was stabbed early Friday at the complex in the 7600 block of the Katy Freeway.
Houstonians, many still wearing their "Go Texan Day" gear, bought movie tickets, ate at restaurants hawking everything from enchiladas to sushi, and settled in for a cold drink or coffee with friends and family. It was the chilly night air, however, more than security concerns Friday that kept patrons from lingering in the well-lit parking lot. At least one Houston police car, two sheriff's deputies and several security guards kept a watchful eye on the customers.
"I'm meeting two other parents inside Wings 'N More," Matezos said, adding the parents would wait there while their five sixth-grade students from St. Theresa's Catholic School saw a movie.
Middle-schoolers Katrina Matezos, Megan Estopinal, Jordan Daly and Priscilla Rubalcaba said they were waiting to see the movie "When a Stranger Calls", a scary film about a baby sitter alone in a big house.
"I just like to see interesting movies. Maybe it will scare me a little," Matezos said.
Her father's watchful presence "doesn't embarrass me at all," she said with a laugh.
Diane Macias and Gladys Lantzsch were waiting for Matezos inside the restaurant, directly across from the movie theater. Their daughters have been in school together since pre-kindergarten.
"We are here because I am concerned for the safety of my daughter, and when I found out what has happened in the last few days, this seemed like a good idea," Lantzsch said. "It's just that crime has gotten so rampant. And when you have a teenager, anything can happen."
About 9:30 p.m Wednesday, 25-year-old Michael Gutierrez was gunned down in the parking lot as he walked from his car to meet a friend at a restaurant.
In the latest attack, shortly before 2 a.m. Friday, two patrons of the Drink Houston bar were injured during a fight at the bar, according to a Houston police department spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Sandoval.
John Tenorio, 34, was stabbed in the chest and back. Mario Sandoval, 30, was struck in the face with a bottle. Both were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital, where Tenorio was in critical condition. Sandoval was treated and released.
Sandoval told police two men approached them in the club. One stabbed Tenorio and the other hit him in the face with a bottle. Police were unable to interview Tenorio because of his injuries, said Sgt. Sandoval, who is not related to the victim who reported the incident.
"He (Sandoval) was not sure what happened and why," Sgt. Sandoval said.
Too bad these idiots ruined it for everyone! Now all of the good places are closing at the Marquee because of a decrease in traffic. Van's closed, then Sanrio, Hot Topic, Pac Sun, and now even Claire's is gone.

Do you really think this is good news for Sylvia?
Q. Sylvia Browne told the family of missing Shawn Hornbeck he was dead shortly after the Missouri boy vanished - and later allegedly offered to help locate his body for $700 per half hour.
The popular TV clairvoyant appeared on the âMontel Williams Showâ in February 2003, four months after Shawn disappeared, and told Pam and Craig Akers she believed their son was âno longer with us.â
She also advised that his body could be found in a wooded area 20 miles from their Richwoods, Mo., home, near two large jagged boulders.
Yet the boy was found alive...4 years later.
I'm not using this to discredit an entire group of people, just one person who has a very bad accuracy rate for being a first rate psychic...

Answer
"Deirdre H" Actually her fee is $750 per 20-30 MINUTES & that is just for a PHONE READING!
I just saw it the old Montel show clip w/ the parents of Shawn, Montel and Sylvia on Anderson Copper 360.
Sylvia outright lied & claimed she never charged on missing persons cases but I know for a fact she DOES!
My sister had called in 1997 when my daughter was missing & was given a quote of $700 for a 20 minute phone reading.
Miss Cleo also (which most know by now) was also a HUGE ripoff.
We were told she was dead, face in water.
Luckily that was NOT the case!
My daughter was missing for 12 days against her will & local law enforcement never did ONE thing to the 7 people involved!
People are corrupt & psychic's are frauds & prey upon desperate people because they would be willing to believe anything if it helped them find their child.
I know been there, done that!
Here is the link to Sylvia's website near the bottom is her prices:

A more affordable (LOL) reading with Sylvia's son Chris is $450.
