I am building a website around the subject of video games and I was wondering if it would be illegal to review video games and share the latest news and videos about them.

There is absolutely nothing illegal about reviewing a video game and posting that review on a website. Also, news cannot be copyrighted, just don't copy a news story (you are best off trying to get put on news release mailing lists from the game manufacturers). Finally, it all depends on what videos you are talking about. If these are videos someone else has created, no you may not share them legally without getting the permission of the person (if they are on someplace like youtube, you can always link out to them). If they are your own videos (i.e., you doing a video review of a game with minimal game screenshots), then yes, you can post the video.
The main idea is do not steal or copy someone elses work and post it on your web site.

I have a spare BBM. And i wanted to use it to create a channel in which i update people on the latest gaming news and release dates and stuff like that. How do i advertise my BBM Pin and purpose to a large enough population to kickstart something like this??

Try making a youtube channel and advertise on there, you should get loads on youtube some on them have over 500,000 subcriptions or you could try facebook but that's a lot harder then youtube :)
