And not just fox news but other news websites. Why do they hate video games and blame them for everything wrong with society? I play lot of video games mostly in the Strategy Gaming area but I don't feel violent. I could be doing a whole lot worse things like doing drugs or meth but I don't want to do that. Why is it that video games are being blamed on?

The media has always hated video games...and comic books, Dungeons & Dragons, cartoons, violent TV shows, violent movies, and pretty much all contemporary music from 1950 onwards.
Why? Because it's easy to blame something you don't understand for society's ills. It's a lot more popular than, say, blaming the parents for improperly raising their child, who committed suicide, or got hooked on drugs/alcohol, or got pregnant, or shot up their school or....
Such stories make for great TV as well, which is really all the news media cares about now. Viewers equal advertising bucks. The more viewers you get, the more you can charge for advertising and the higher your stock price goes. Who cares about informing the public? If you can scare 10,000 more viewers into watching your expose' on the common killer found in every home - di-hydrogen-oxide - then so be it!
Politicians have also always hated those things as well because it makes for great photo-ops. They may not be able to do any real work, but they can write a bill to ban violent video games so they can claim to be "protecting our children". Never mind that the bill - like the hundreds of others like it, will get struck down as unconstitutional at the expense of taxpayer dollars... In fact last year alone, there were at least half a dozen bills introduced at the local, state or even federal level and all of them - ALL OF THEM - were immediately struck down by the courts who pointed to the stack of previously failed bills and said "So, what makes YOUR bill different than THEIR bills?"
During the 90s, the government couldn't actually pass any laws but pressured the music and video game industries to label their products. This is why Rap CDs have those "Warning: Explicit Lyrics!" stickers on them, and videogames have ratings like movies. The immediate affect of this...CDs and Games that were marked as "Mature" suddenly had their sales shoot up. Turns out, the labels just made it easier for kids to pick out the "naughty" stuff.
