I have a few acquaintances and a girlfriend. I have never been one to have many friends. But I really want to come out of my shell and have friends to hang out with after school or have parties with. I love my gf but we can't be the only people we have. I'm a sophomore in highschool and have anxiety problems...

Answer
Why? Are you doing it for you or are you doing it to be some shallow drone that wants to fit in? If you have some friends and even a girlfriend that likes you as you are, isn't that good? When you're popular, your new "friends" will be people that don't care about you deep down. If there's trouble, they'll be gone. You'll talk about sports, movies, drinking, doing drugs, porn, and that smoking babe that just walked down the hall - if your girlfriend isn't present, it's acceptable to say that you'd like to have sex with that random hottie. Wanna hang out with your "friends" after school? You'll most likely only meet at a party or a bar where you'll get too drunk to think straight or remember things come morning, or you might meet at their house to smoke a joint. Maybe you'll even score with some random chick you picked up after the guys encouraged you to drink way more than you can handle and stuck you in that situation. They won't appreciate you for who you are and you won't appreciate them for who they are - if you do, you'll just be used.

Popular people enjoy an empty happiness. If you want it, start watching sports and sports news religiously and just bring it up. "Hey, do you know if ____ got signed to a team yet?" or whatever bull like that. Wear a t-shirt with Bob Marley on it. Get a visible tattoo of a marijuana leaf. Butt into conversations when people are talking about some pretty typical stuff or some new movie. "Was it any good?" or some unsolicited commentary about how "Specific Actor" did a great job in this movie and "Specific Female Actor" was really hot in this one, but not quite as hot as she was in "Other Movie". It's all about centering your life around sports and celebrity gossip.

What are some story ideas for the 'scene' section of my high school newspaper?

Lizzy

This section is mostly movies and music reviews but i have to write something other than a review.

Answer
There are a lot of excellent true life stories in your community. You could do a piece on a food bank, people with really weird jobs, people with interesting hobbies, or people volunteering with great groups. I dont know where you live, but where I live many people do a lot of work with housing rehab projects and all of them have fascinating stories. I would not bother with the self-centered vacuous celebrities and find the real stars who live all around with you. By the way, gossip is vicious and just plain stinks!
Hope you find some good stuff!
