In a lot of comments here, I keep seeing christians posting that the bible has been backed by science and history. As an ex-christian and now atheist who has spent the last 5 years studying biblical inaccuracies I don't understand where you get this idea from?
- Science does not support people rising from the dead
- Science does not support the sun moving through the earths sky or the earth having four corners.
- Science does not support creation and women being formed from mans rib
- Science does not support a global flood
- Science does not support the existence of any god or the existence of a heaven or hell.
- Science does not support magical healings, or the sick being possessed by demons.
- Science does not support axe heads floating on water....etc...etc...etc the list goes on and on.
And history? Yes some biblical claims are backed by history, but not claims of supernatural occurances?
For instance, in the gospel of Matthew, we are told that when Jesus was crucified that the dead saints arose and went into the holy city and were seen by many. It also states that the earth shook and darkness covered the land for a time etc......NONE of these events were ever recorded outside of the gospel of Matthew. No Jewish or Roman scribe, scholar, or historian living in Judea recorded anything of this event, not even any of the other three gospels. Quite strange if people were coming out of their graves and walking around Jerusalem?
Also, Matthew and Luke disagree about when Jesus was born, Matthew says it was during the reign of Herod the Great. Luke says it was when Quirinius was governer of Syria. Impossible since Quirinius wasn't governor until roughly ten years after Herods death? Jesus couldn't be born and than be born again ten years later?
It seems to me that too many people are buying into this creation science nonsense?
Q&A Queen.- Actually I have been over some of the examples you have listed here. And people realizing that "excrement" can make them sick doesn't need a revelation before its time lol. Also, the scripture in Job is only emphasizing that in the writters mind that earth is suspended by gods power? This in no way proves that the author somehow knew the earth was round. Also, the earth is "not" suspended at all? The earth is held in the sun's orbit by gravitational pull?
Answer
Well - Let's see
(Job 26:7) He is stretching out the north over the empty place, Hanging the earth upon nothing;
How did the Bible writer know this thousands of years before space exploration proved it to be true and at a time when quite he opposite was the prevailing scientific "wisdom"
The book of Leviticus contained laws for ancient Israel on quarantine and hygiene when surrounding nations knew nothing about such matters. That includes instructions about the disposal of human waste. Those guidelines are still used today in areas where clean water is an issue.
(Deuteronomy 23:12, 13) And a private place should be at your service outside the camp, and you must go out there. 13Â And a peg should be at your service along with your implements, and it must occur that when you squat outside, you must also dig a hole with it and turn and cover your excrement.
About the four corners reference... I find this to be THE most disingenuous argument that atheists/bible critics put forward. If you were to tell someone today that you family and friends are flung to the "four corners of the earth", are you promoting yourself as a flat earth believer? No. Of course not. It is a simple turn of phrase which, some believes, merely refers to the north, south, east and west. I find it difficult to understand why turns of phrase, or poetic wording is 100% acceptable EXCEPT when used in the Bible.
Science does not support people rising from the dead because those events occurred thousands of years ago and no scientist can duplicate what the Son of God did.
As for the flood:
Scientific Monthly, August 1949: âIn those days the earth had a tropical or sub-tropical climate over much of its land surface . . . The land was low and there were no high mountains.â
Science et Vie, July 1966: â[Antarctica] was once a green land where streams flowed among flowers, where birds sang in the trees.â
Science News, October 4, 1975: âIn almost every culture . . . emerge strikingly similar tales of a great flood that swept away emerging civilizations and changed the face of the earth. New evidence gathered from sea-floor cores . . . confirms the existence of such a universal deluge.â
The Deluge Story in Stone, by Byron C. Nelson: âThe way fishes by the millions are entombed in the rocks of England, Scotland, Wales, Germany, Switzerland, the American Rockies; the way elephants and rhinoceroses are buried by the millions in Alaska, Siberia, England, Italy, Greece; . . . the way reptiles are buried by the millions in western Canada, the United States, South America, Africa, Australia, to mention only a portion of such instances, absolutely require the explanation of great catastrophes for their elucidation.â
Monarchs and Tombs and PeoplesâThe Dawn of the Orient, by Prince Mikasa: âWas there really a Flood? As a result of excavations by archaeologists in recent years, the fact that the flood actually took place has been convincingly proved.â

That should give you some food for thought. :)

How soon can I get an accurate result?
mo_61
My period was due on 11/28 but never came. The first day of my last period was 10/28. If we had sex on 11/29, when could a home pregnancy test be accurate? My period is now 12 days late. Thanks!
Answer
If you are trying to get pregnant, the good news is that early pregnancy symptoms feel very similar to the start of your period. If you are pregnant you may begin to notice symptoms of early pregnancy right around the time your period would normally start and sometimes sooner than that. If you suspect pregnancy you can test for pregnancy as early as 10 days after ovulation.. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO TEST NOW IF IT'S NEG. THAN GET A BLOOD TEST..
I WISH YOU THE BEST OF LUCK
