does anyone know this answer?
1. What were the earliest forms or types of blogging before it became popular?
Answer
This is what wikipedia says about it:
The term "weblog" was coined by Jorn Barger[58] on 17 December 1997. The short form, "blog," was coined by Peter Merholz, who jokingly broke the word weblog into the phrase we blog in the sidebar of his blog Peterme.com in April or May 1999.
The modern blog evolved from the online diary, where people would keep a running account of their personal lives. Most such writers called themselves diarists, journalists, or journalers. Justin Hall, who began personal blogging in 1994 while a student at Swarthmore College, is generally recognized as one of the earliest bloggers,[64] as is Jerry Pournelle.[citation needed] Dave Winer's Scripting News is also credited with being one of the oldest and longest running weblogs.

If you think about it, however, the practice of broadcasting one's day-to-day activities and plans for the future was made popular by FDR long before the computer or Internet. He did it by radio and called it a "Fireside Chat."

What popular sites that still support Internet Explorer 6?
brocke47
So at my job we have some of the worst computers known to man. And we can't bring our own. They are stuck on IE6 and they refuse to upgrade.
Being that there is nothing to do here, I have a lot of spare time to surf the net. But I can't seem to find sites that support IE6. I was amazed yahoo did. Any others? Interesting sites to waste time on a plus.

Maggotdrowning.com - one of the UK's leading fishing websites (not changed too much since I joined in 2003) http://www.maggotdrowning.com/forum/default.asp
UnBore.Me.UK has a few older webgames on it http://www.unbore.me.uk/html/games.html
(not really bothered updating it recently, as the newer version of the software I used to make it doesn't like the old project save file from the earlier version used to make this site).
"News of the Wierd" will probably still work, as that doesn't do anything that clever requiring a newer browser http://www.newsoftheweird.com/
The atlantic storm tracking website @ http://hurricane.terrapin.com/ will definately still work - design of that hasn't changed too much since I first found it back in 1999 during my first year on the Internet, and Hurricane Floyd was heading towards some of my first online friends.
Rootsweb + Genealogy.com (for researching your family history) looks like they could http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
http://www.genealogy.com/index_n.html
Astronomy NOW magazine website, that ain't changed much over the years either
http://www.astronomynow.com/
