Whats an amazing romance novel?
My Preciou
I need a really good teen romance thats long, and NOT TWILIGHT OR VAMPIRES. Please, I have read them, and I want to read something about humans. I just read perfect chemistry and loved it. Anything like that? Thanks.
Answer
I would recommend either the Gemma Doyle Trilogy or the Luxe series. Both contain romance, and are based on actual humans... not vampires. The Gemma Doyle Trilogy consists of A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing. The Luxe series contains The Luxe, Rumors, and Envy.
A Great and Terrible Beauty summary:
"The visions start when Gemma's mother is killed by a strange shadowy creature- Gemma witnesses every moment of her death, even though she isn't there.
Then, she is shipped off to a boarding school in London. Gemma, who has not been taught more than the most basic social graces, has trouble fitting in at the prim and proper Spence Academy- a situation which is not helped by the fact that she is still having visions, whether she wants to or not... and the mysterious young man who is following her around and telling her that she must stop her premonitions somehow.
But it is there that Gemma meets Felicity, Pippa, and Ann, all of whom- like Gemma- dream of being something more than the rich men's wives and socialites that everyone expects them to be. And all of them- like Gemma- have secrets that, if ever discovered, would mark them as undesirable, abnormal, unfit to be ladies of quality.
And Spence Academy has secrets of its own... dark secrets linked to a twenty-year-old tragedy and a mysterious diary that Gemma found in the woods. The diary of a girl named Mary who had powers much like Gemma's own...
The Luxe summary:
Itâs 1899, and while there were no celebrity gossip blogs, the lives of young socialites were followed just as ardently as they are today. Elizabeth Holland was the perfect young debutante, but tragically, her funeral was held on the very day she was to marry Henry Schoonmaker, the most eligible young bachelor in town, although admittedly a bit of a cad. The novel then backtracks a few weeks and dives right in to the steamy, sordid, scandalous web of attachments of the young well-to-do in New York City at the end of the nineteenth century. Parental pressures force Henryâs engagement to Elizabeth, but sheâs in love with Will, a servant. Penelope, Elizabethâs ex-best-friend, is in love with Henry and cannot stand the idea of any one else marrying him. Meanwhile, Henry discovers that heâs falling for Elizabethâs younger sister, Diana. Complications ensue.
Hope you enjoy!
