So at my job we have some of the worst computers known to man. And we can't bring our own. They are stuck on IE6 and they refuse to upgrade.

Being that there is nothing to do here, I have a lot of spare time to surf the net. But I can't seem to find sites that support IE6. I was amazed yahoo did. Any others? Interesting sites to waste time on a plus.

Maggotdrowning.com - one of the UK's leading fishing websites (not changed too much since I joined in 2003) http://www.maggotdrowning.com/forum/default.asp

UnBore.Me.UK has a few older webgames on it http://www.unbore.me.uk/html/games.html
(not really bothered updating it recently, as the newer version of the software I used to make it doesn't like the old project save file from the earlier version used to make this site).

"News of the Wierd" will probably still work, as that doesn't do anything that clever requiring a newer browser http://www.newsoftheweird.com/

The atlantic storm tracking website @ http://hurricane.terrapin.com/ will definately still work - design of that hasn't changed too much since I first found it back in 1999 during my first year on the Internet, and Hurricane Floyd was heading towards some of my first online friends.

Rootsweb + Genealogy.com (for researching your family history) looks like they could http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/
http://www.genealogy.com/index_n.html

Astronomy NOW magazine website, that ain't changed much over the years either

What are some really good writing sites?

Answer
There are plenty of websites out there for you to share your writing. Here are a few examples, allow me to link them:

http://www.fanfiction.net/

http://browse.deviantart.com/literature/
http://browse.deviantart.com/literature/prose/fiction/

http://www.wattpad.com/ (unsure about community)

http://storiesville.com/ (was an amazing place for short stories, but died due to hosting problems. Might come up again one day though, so Iâd keep an eye out for it. Had some of the best stories Iâve ever read)

Also, you could make a blog and post your stories there. A lot of writers do that.

Another way - if there is a particular online community you like, a forum say, you could also post your writing there. Any kind of forum; forum for a game, popular website, news site, for a software, etc.. Forums like these usually have a creative art section and are a great way to attract new audience. And since they wonât be a huge community where youâd have to struggle with others for reader popularity, you are guaranteed to have people read your work and give feedback. Fantastic places to start for any new artist. Look around :P
