Answer
It is possible but quite unlikely to happen without any physical damage to the victim. I have read at least 2 stories about 2 different cases where a child died afterwards as a result of damage,or simply bled out. One was a newborn and the other was a girl about 3-4 years old. I think one of them was on a website called People You'll See In Hell.

IV BEEN TO D VET 2DAY nd she said my romeo has a heart murmur...im so scared... any1 can tell me if it is fatal?!
Answer
First, you need to calm down. Many cats have a heart murmur at the vet, because they are very nervous about being there, and it makes their heart race. The vet should have graded his heart murmur (they rate them on scale of seriousness, for instance grade 3 of 4 would be serious). Usually the first time it's detected, the vet will just want to monitor your cat to see if they grow out of it (many young cats do!) or if it becomes worse over time. It does not have to be fatal, not at all. If it becomes worse then there is medication that your cat can be put on - I fostered a cat with a severe heart murmur, and she had hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. She was put on a very inexpensive human drug called atenolol, and now, 4 years later, her heart is much better and she's doing great! So hang in there, and call back the vet's office when you have a chance, and ask some questions. It's hard to ask questions when you're upset and get news like that. But truly - it isn't a death sentence and doesn't even have to be really serious! Good luck with him, and I'm hoping that he's going to be just fine.
