Does anyone watch BBC news?

The King

How do you feels about the accuracy of their news compared to American or Canadian news? Particularily their views on North America should strengthen their economy? (they say americans should become more thrifty and save more)
@ Jack T:

Actually I'm Canadian and I'm getting tired of how even the media in my own country is starting to sensationalize the news!

PS way to continue the American stereotype "If it wasn't for us you'd be speaking German" ...you knob

Answer
Yes... but BBC world news, cos I live in Germany.
I also watch the local German news channels, and then I have a choice of the world channels CNN and CNBC from America, plus France 24, Russia Today, and Al Jazeera International, plus the German world channels N24 and n-tv.
My favorite, surprisingly, is Al Jazeera, because it is just that little bit better than the rest.
It's unbiased reporting is excellent ! And it has outstanding coverage of worldwide events.

Jack T...You ask if Warren is a kid ? Well your comments prove that you act like one.

You remember that America only joined the war after Pearl Harbour, when you at last realised the threat facing you. But we had been at war against this threat for many years, while you were prepared to sit back and profit by supplying us weapons on "lend lease basis" (that we were still paying back 40 years later).
Just like every other war you have fought in the last 100 years, you prefer to fight on other peoples soil !

This is OK by me, quite clever in fact, but don't play the big hero world saviour. You were just one of thirty five countries fighting the Nazis, and many of those that fought were Muslim !
I sincerely thank you, and all those other lands, for taking part, and risking their lives for OUR combined future..
And having so many people of the Muslim faith in our country shows how much tolerance we have achieved.
How cosmopolitan our land has become. We are blessed with the experiences from so many cultures worldwide. Practically all of the Countries that were once a part of our "Empire" are good friends of ours still, the Commonwealth is a splendid example of this friendship.

The coloured members of our community have ALWAYS had the same civil rights as us, including the same voting rights. I admit that legislation had to be introduced to protect coloured peoples employment rights, such was the underlying racism in the middle of the last century.
We have changed so much since then.

This is down to our freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom in our media.
And our belief in justice.

And I for one am quite happy that the pound is worth less, because I live in Germany, so when I go back to England, it is so cheap there for me !

Should Shirley Sherrod sue Fox news for defamation of character?

gws35pinhe

CNN has been airing the unedited version of her NAACP speech. I think she has a valid case to take them to court. They have a constitutional right to lie, but she has constitutional rights too.
I don't care who broke the story. They aired it and it was deliberately edited to deceive people.
Armchair Goddess#1, I've already decided to give best answer to you. As soon as Yahoo allows it I will choose yours.

Answer
She most certainly should! Faux News deliberately distorted Ms. Sherrod's message from more than 24 years ago---and that on-purpose distortion should COST THEM! The latest CHUTZPAH of this non-news Faux station is to now accuse the Obama administration of "railroading" Shirley Sherrod by firing her! Can you believe these monsters? The unmitigated GALL from the station that actually sued for the right to lie in a Florida court! Maybe if ACORN and Ms. Sherrod and all the others who have been the targets of the Faux maliciousness DID sue, we could sent a message LOUD AND CLEAR to media mogul Rupert Murdoch that we are all "Mad as hell and we won't TAKE it anymore" on the whole issue of propaganda!

I did put my two cents in at the White House, advocating immediate reinstatement and then suggested using this as a golden opportunity to bring the whole issue of prejudice or bias out into the open---debate the rush to judgement for both ACORN (which was ABSOLVED of wrongdoing eventually, but not before being put to shame unfairly and damaging an otherwise hard-won good reputation) and for USDA worker Shirley Sherrod, who was attempting to say that the tendency all people have to make negative judgements about others based solely on race or skin color can be OVERCOME (as she was able to do in time to help the white farmer of whom she spoke and the farmer's wife SAVE THEIR FARM---a fact to which they testified on CNN several times today. I think this could be a perfect chance to get Faux news hoisted on its own petard and wean some of its regular viewers off it its negative messages, if the Obama team handles the whole thing with aplomb.
