What is the most popular, read newspaper in Barbados? Thanks.?

Maria

Wikipedia.com says Daily Nation is the leading one, and Barbados Advocate is 2nd. Why would they say that? Are they wrong?

Answer
Yes the Nation is the most popular and widely read paper. They printed over 44,000 on the weekend paper this week. It is loaded with lots of entertainment news, features and there is a popular column named "Dear Christine". One can send any problems that one has to be get advice. It is even popular on other islands. In the Saturday Nation there is a very feature called "I confess". It is available almost everywhere.

The Advocate has a Friday paper called the "Heat". That is a good one. All the malicious gossip and there is a very popular feature called "Fashion Police 'pon' Patrol". That is the bomb. A photographer take a pic of people on the streets when they are not matching or hair styles that looks wrong (extensions). If the bags are not matching te shoes, or if the bra strap is showing, the pants is too tight or too short or if generally the colours do not go well together. The face is always blotted out but people that know the person would still know it is them. depends on the severity of the outfit they can be sentence to either a warning or fashion police jail.

Why is this name so popular....?

Lanani

My local newspaper recently printed a "Babies of 2005" special section. Out of curiosity, I began looking at the names...

Fully 77 (I counted) of the three or four hundred babies had a name that was a variation of: Aiden, Brayden, Hayden, Taiden, Payton, or Jayden. They were spelled all sorts of different ways, but they are still very similar.

I think women initially began to give their children these names because they were unique, but they're becoming VERY common now... no one seem to have noticed this yet!

Three of my friends are pregnant right now, and two of them want to name their baby Aiden (one wants to spell it Aydin). They don't believe that it's becoming a very, very common name.
I should add that there are FOUR Braydens in my son's daycare. And one Jayden.
Here are the top baby names for 2005.. Aidan is #1.

Another name like that is Austin. My boys were born in Germany, and we wanted to give them unique Texan names that weren't too out there. Since my wife and I are from Austin, Travis County Texas, We named them Austin and Travis.

It was okay while we were overseas. We ran into the ocassional Austin but hardly ever a Travis. We are back stateside now, and my son is in a class with 18 students. FOUR OF THEM ARE NAMED AUSTIN!! Three have the same last initial, so they are all called by their LAST NAME.

Now, all four Austins LOVE this. They are all the best of friends and think it is cool that they get to be different. But it drives ME up the wall every time I call my kid's name and he says "My name's not Austin, it's Jones!!"

I guess my point is is that you can pick a name for your kids thinking it is pretty unique. But if you think it is a good name for a kid, tens if not hundreds of thousands might be thinking the same thing.
