A protest movement recently began in Syria calling for more democracy, freedom, and reforms. It was originally peaceful, but outside forces and extremist factions hijacked this movement for their own purposes, and began using violence. The Syrian army then had to respond with even more violence, and an armed conflict erupted.

The majority of those currently fighting against the Syrian government are terrorists and foreign mercenaries. America, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and several other countries have been funding these terrorists and using them to try to overthrow the Syrian government. They are smuggling large amounts of weapons to these groups across the Syrian border, and they are also sending in hired insurgents from other countries to kill random people and cause chaos.

Every day, these terrorist groups are blowing up buildings, sabotaging infrastructure, bombing pipelines and roads, and murdering people on a mass scale. Entire neighborhoods are being destroyed and terrorized, families are getting killed inside their homes, and snipers are randomly murdering people on the streets - both civilians and security forces.

The collection of terrorist groups known as the "Free Syrian Army" is kidnapping and torturing people every day. Since the start of the crisis they have killed over 10,000 civilians, soldiers and policemen. Many of them are salafi extremists who want to establish an Islamic state in Syria, or radical Sunni terrorists motivated by sectarian hatred. Many of them are jihadists linked to al-Qaeda, and many are insurgents who have come from places like Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Tunisia, Jordan, Turkey, Egypt and elsewhere, by illegally crossing the Syrian border.

The US wants to overthrow the Syrian government not for humanitarian reasons as the media claims, but for geopolitical reasons, in particular because of Syria's stance on Israel, its opposition to US regional interests, its support for resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon, and its alliance with major US enemies like Russia, China and Iran. By destroying Syria the US would be able to break apart the Iran-Syria-Hezbollah axis and establish hegemony in the middle east.

The vast majority of "news reports" about Syria that you see on CNN/BBC/Al-Jazeera are unverifiable, unsubstantiated stories and rumors, and most of them are taken directly from Syrian opposition sources and anonymous "activists" who have a vested interest in painting the Syrian situation in a certain way. Any many times, the sources of these stories are not even in Syria.

For example: the "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights", possibly the most quoted source in the media about the Syrian conflict, is actually run from an apartment in England by one man who gets all his information from "anonymous phonecalls", and also happens to work with the British Foreign Ministry. Meanwhile, sources actually on the ground in Syria who tell a completely different story are ignored.

The western mainstream media is owned by the military-industrial complex and is an inseparable part of the establishment. It is controlled by the very same interests that are trying to overthrow Syria, and its job is to help facilitate that overthrow by manipulating public opinion. This is why the media demonizes the Syrian government and exaggerates its wrongdoings while ignoring the atrocities committed by the rebels.

What you will never hear on the news is that the Syrian government has already met most of the demands of the legitimate opposition in Syria (those who are making their demands peacefully, and who are actually inside Syria, unlike the Istanbul-based SNC that is calling for foreign invasion).

The Syrian government has already implemented new party laws, new media laws, new election laws, a new constitution has been implemented via referendum, the emergency law has been lifted, general amnesty has been granted multiple times, there have been new local & parliamentary elections, etc.

which type of diffusion is occurring with the crisis in Syria and why do you believe or do not believe that action should or should not be taken by the "Global" nations?

The latest polls show 91.4% of Americans believe we should not do anything in Syria. I agree with this. There are far too many other issues; high unemployment, people losing their homes, the national debt, and etc...

To add to this rationelle, according to US News, Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla., states the Obama administration has manipulated the intellegence to make it's case for war.

Unfortunately, Obama appears to be foaming at the mouth, drunk with power, and dead-set on diverting the American peoples' attention by "Wagging-the-Dog" out of all his scandals (Egypt, NSC, IRS, the nation debt, the high unemployment rate, falling race relations, and so on and so on...).

Secretary of State, John Kerry (Mr. Heinz Catsup, as many folks refer to him as because he married into this money), has made a half-century career bad mouthing the US Military ("Baby Killers" and etc...(see his congressional testimony and many interview given)). There are so many folks that served with him in the US Navy that believe he should have been tried for treason (Swift Boaters). Now, just a few months after Obama annointed John Kerry into his new position, John Kerry is doing everything John Kerry can do to get the US into a war with the very same US Military he has spoken so badly about to assist his boss, Obama for political reasons.

Many if these two were truly doing this for "Humanitarian Reasons" they would have done something in the Congo where at least 4,000,000 people have been killed.

It is interesting these very same folks that were so against any war under Bush are now doing everything they can to get the US into this war to protect their man Obama. Problem is that the "Generation X and Y" folks that voted overwhelmingly for him, now are expected to go to war for him. If they do not, watch the draft come back.

Ashamed to admit I haven't been keeping up with the news the last few weeks. What to make of this latest news headline?? What are the implications... consequences etc?

Russia is sending attack helicopters to Syria to help it root out the cancer of the foreign-backed terrorist groups who are trying to overthrow the legitimate Syrian government and install a wahhabi puppet regime. The Syrian government has recently announced a major military operation against the terrorist groups, and these helicopters may have something to do with that.

After the "massacres" of the last few weeks (http://yhoo.it/Ku7Jvk), the US was getting dangerously close to invading Syria, so hopefully they will back off after this.

Ultimately, Russia's role in the situation in Syria is a very positive one. Russia is one of the only countries taking a realistic approach to the crisis and pushing for a political solution. They have repeatedly tried to start talks and negotiation between the government and the opposition, which unfortunately the opposition has refused every time. Meanwhile, all the US has done has been to encourage more violence by shipping money and weapons to terrorist groups inside Syria who are killing people on a mass scale and committing acts of sabotage, rape, torture and kidnapping. The US has taken the side of the Syrian opposition puppets on the political arena, and they are using inflammatory rhetoric and threats of invasion to make the situation even worse.

so i know that there were protests in yemen and bahrain. so i go on google news everyday to see what is happening. but the main stories are always on the situations in syria and libya (it seems to me, i could be wrong). i like to know what is happening in the world but i feel like i don't know about the current situations there. can anyone tell me what is the latest news on Bahrain and Yemen?

The protests have died down for now, but the people there are still very tense. The countries are suffering, and things will need to change soon.

It seems for the welfare of the rest of the world INCLUDING China that no one country is safe to me! With this latest London airport issue is it time to put a stop to this? Time for the major powers to make a decision? The BIG decision? Its obvious that Iran, Syria, Libya, Cuba, North Korea, and Sudan arent capable of policing their countries! I feel for the innocents but lets get real here! For those of you who havent heard the latest, watch the news before you post! People tie the Arab spring to things: do not like, they fear, or they have interest in. Arab spring is where normal Arab people rebelled against corruption, discrimination, opportunistic, living under slavery of dictators and their families and relatives. Arab spring has nothing to do with the outside world or others outside the Arab states except oppositions living in exile/s. The Arab spring has nothing to do with religions and religious issues. Arabs, for the first time, were able through the web such as facebook and Twitter to organize large demonstrations against Dictators.

Because of the extreme fear and intimidation Syrians lived with for 42 years. Under the same illegal, racial, criminal, most ugly regime in the world. The last Arab state that joined the Arab spring was Syria.
The last uprising against this regime was in the 1982. Where the last Illegal president Hafez Assad and his brother killed 40.000 Syrians to appease them and destroyed the city of Hamah.

The current uprising started In the Syrian city of Daraâa on the border with Jordan. Where some kids, influenced by the TVâs news of the Arab spring in other Arab states, wrote things on a wall where the kids were forcefully taken from their parents, imprisoned, tortured, their nails were taken of, and at the beginning refused to free them under any circumstances. As a result their parents rebelled and some of them were shot died by the regime. This resulted the uprising to start and escalate in many other areas of Syria.
For many months, the regime as used to in the last 42 years, used extreme force, torture, and direct killing against peaceful protestors and accused them of all kind of bad accusations and telling the world that they have been fighting terrorists. The same way did in the last 42 years of tutoring under the lie that they were fighting Israel and America. Anybody opposed that lie was taken, tortured, considered traitor and executed. They banned the international media from entering Syria and converted it into a large prison. All that resulted in the escape of soldiers with their arms from the army and established small armed groups to protect civilians. Later, armed struggle against the regime started after months of daily killing of civilians and no help of any kind from outside Syria.

Now over 30.000 were killed, 100s of thousands in prisons, women have been raped by the regime, Kids and babies have been slaughtered, millions fled the country, cities have been destroyed by most sophisticated arms. The Syrian regime even, have been bullying, harassing, and threatening Syrians and/or others around the world who opposed. Unfortunately, still there is nobody really helping to stop the massacres until now.


Al-Baâath party has 2 branches, one ruling Syria under Al-Assad and the other was ruling Iraq under Saddam Husain with the same ideology and ideas.

The Syrian story started with the father (Hafez Assad) who came from the poor Alawis village (Qardaha) on the Syrian coast. He wanted to study medicine but he couldnât because he was too poor. He went to the military school and later he and his colleagues in Al-Baâath party illegally and forcefully overthrew the government and took over the power in Syria. Then, Assad imprisoned those colleagues until they died in prisons and controlled Syria alone with his family and made Syria the only Apartheid Arab state. Alawis from Qardaha and other Alawis villages invaded the Syrian cities like Locusts and controlled all kind of high positions in Syria. The way they speak has a tune and some special words and this distinguished them. Syrians feared them to death whenever they are because they know that they are above the law. Directly after Hafez Assad passed away, the constitution was altered and his son Bashar inherited illegally the presidency of Syria and the regime remained the same. Now, Al-Assad family and cousins and relatives control absolutely everything in Syria, and they became one of the richest worldwide and that is one reason why they do not want to leave power.
