Why isnt this in the news?

James924

There hasnt been nearly as much news in the past few months about Iraq as there typically has been for the past few years. It seems that when bombs arent going off and US Troops arent dying, the media doesnt want to report on Iraq. Here is a DoD site with a day by day, hour by hour report on incidents in Iraq.
Check it out. Why arent all these things in the news? Because they are mostly GOOD NEWS. And good news in iraq apparently isn't news worthy.
Here is the link:
http://www.arcent.army.mil/media_releases/media_releases.asp

Its becoming increasingly popular to get foreign policy info from .gov and .mil and foreign policy and pentagon sites these days as personal .org blogs are less and less reliable for accuracy.
here are a few of my favorites:

Answer
Excellent observation. The answer is that the Liberal Left are so deeply invested in America's defeat that this type of news will never be allowed to be reported by the mainstream media.
Instead their mantra is gloom and doom.

Vote non-LibDem in '08.

is the aussie Rupert Murdoch owner of Fox-news and other pro-communist liberal media , a radical zi0nist?

Answer
So much for cooling down the rhetoric. At a time when liberals are blaming the "vitriol" of the conservative movement for violence in America, Media Matters (a liberal group which targets conservative media) is planning what it calls a campaign of "guerrilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox News. It just goes to show that if liberals can't win on message, they will seek to destroy the messenger.

In a story running on Politico.com, Media Matters founder David Brock described the old strategy against Fox News as one of "containment." The new strategy is simple: "War on Fox."

In an interview and a 2010 planning memo shared with POLITICO, Brock listed the fronts on which Media Matters -- which he said is operating on a $10 million-plus annual budget -- is working to chip away at Fox and its parent company, News Corp. They include its bread-and-butter distribution of embarrassing clips and attempts to rebut Fox points, as well as a series of under-the-radar tactics.

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox's top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck's show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes.

Amazing, isn't it? Rather than focusing on doing a better job of getting out the liberal message and promoting left wing policies, this group seeks to bring down the most popular cable news outlet in America. Instead of putting out a better product, they seek to destroy the other product using "under-the-radar tactics" and attacks on those who work at Fox. This is nothing short of pathetic.

Taking a casual look at the Media Matters web site, one will find a plethora of headlines aimed at Fox News:

Why does the gun-control zealots never allow facts, logic, or sanity to ever enter the equation?
does = do
EDIT: LOL! The madness is coming ENTIRELY from the blind fanatics supporting this administration with a single critical or logical thought to the contrary.

Save your breath trying to reason with democrats. Common sense tells everyone but liberals and democrats that ALL human predators dearly hope their targets are unarmed, whether the predator is a home invader, Stalin or Hitler:
-Thomas Jefferson, "Commonplace Book," 1774-1776: ââLaws that forbid the carrying of arms... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Even pacifists like Mahatma Gandhi "got it," saying: "Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." An Autobiography, pg 446.

But liberals and democrats always religiously cling to their dogmatic faith that âmore guns leads to more crimeâ no matter how much evidence you shove in their face, including:

-9/27/01 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/156671⦠are deeply rooted within Swiss culture but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept"; âIn addition to the government-provided arms, there are few restrictions on buying weapons.â

-1/15/03 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/26568⦠BBC: "âIf guns are outlawed only outlaws will have gunsâ" may prove prophetic. Gun crime in the UK is soaring even though it has the strictest gun control laws of any democracy.â
Nine years later: 12/17/12 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-⦠UKâs violent crime rate per 100,000 people is 2,034; USâs is 466.

2/2/11 Daily Telegraph:
-âAs of this month, some 40 ships are in their hands and more than 800 crew held captive in these seas south of the Gulf of Aden.
-âThe safest ships of all are flying the Russian flag: armed guards aboard them simply blow pirate boats out of the water and leave any survivors to drown. Attacks on Russian vessels have abruptly ceased.â (Do you think thereâs a message there, one that most liberals or democrats seem capable of comprehending?)

-7/25/12 http://articles.nydailynews.com/2012-07-⦠1950 all but one mass-murders in the U. S. where more than three people died were committed in gun-free zones. The Gun-Free Schools Zone Act was passed in 1990.

-9/25/12 http://www.ft.com/cms/s/2/5c1b6a72-c5eb-â¦
âBut almost 30 years after the law [which mandates that all households own at least one firearm for self-protection] was passed, it is still in place and still popular, not least because Kennesawâs crime rate has remained disproportionately low, even as the townâs population swelled from 5,000 in 1982 to almost 35,000 now. According to the latest FBI statistics, Kennesaw recorded 31 violent crimes â mainly robberies and aggravated assaults â during 2008. In other similar-sized local towns the figures were much higher â 127 in Dalton and 188 in Hinesville. For property crimes â largely burglaries and thefts â Kennesaw recorded 555 while Dalton had 1,124 and Hinesville 1,802.â

-11/23/12 http://www.timesdispatch.com/news/local/⦠2006-2011 gun purchases in Virginia increased 73%. During the same period gun-related crimes fell 24%.

-1/6/13 http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrybell/20â¦According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, the firearm crime rate dropped from 6 victims per 1,000 residents in 1994 to 1.4 victims per 1,000 residents in 2009. This has occurred as more and more citizens have armed themselves under right-to-carry State laws. While major crimes show continuing decline in those States, this phenomenon parallels a major crime rise in heavily gun-controlled cities.

-U. S. Department of Justice http://bjs.ojp.usdoj.gov/content/pub/pdf/vdhb.pdf: 3.7 million household burglaries occurred each year on average from 2003 to 2007; a household member was present in roughly 1 million burglaries and became victims of violent crimes in 266,560 burglaries. [meaning the police didnât show up in time]

When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
-----
As to the democrat mantra, âCall 911â:

-In Warren v. District of Columbia (1981), the D.C. Court of Appeals ruled, âpolice personnel and the government employing them are not generally liable to victims of criminal acts for failure to provide adequate police protection . . . . [A] government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular citizen.â In Bowers v. DeVito (1982), the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruled âTHERE IS NO CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO BE PROTECTED BY THE STATE AGAINST BEING MURDERED BY A CRIMINALS OR MADMEN.â

How can we be more informed about government?

Thoughtful answers only please. I just find it outrageous that most of the people I know that consider themselves liberal can't distinguish fact from fiction. I find that many liberals, not all, are caught up in the popular hate-bush end the Iraq war that bush started because he wanted to get oil hearsay.

It's so bad I know people that reference "Fahrenheit 9/11" as as if it were credible research. Bias is bias and liberal bias is just as bad as conservative bias. Before anyone says it, ok, Fox News does have lean conservative but then is CNN free from liberal bias.

Answer
You have to expand your informational resources, move away from mainstream media. There is a wealth of information on the internet; search for information rather than waiting for a media outlet to give it to you. Most of the sources media outlets use are posted on official government websites. As for biased problem, I usually just make sure to balance out the perspectives, so don't just focus on liberal sites, but also conservative and independants as well.

For foreign issues find local papers (but beware these also have a local bias) so you can get a different perspective on US issues. If your in college/university, they may offer an electronic journal package. Find some journals that interest you and read up on them.

Anyway the best way to be informed is to be more active in finding out what you want, instead of waiting to be told about it.

Save your breath.

Everyone but unthinking gun-grabbers intuitively concedes that all predator-humans hope their targets are unarmed, whether the predator is a Lanza, Stalin or Hitler:

How come McCain popular rating goes up slowly but surely as the days passed by ?

Q.

Answer
It is the great victory of the internet, over the media. We have been dictated to, as to what to think of our politics, by the liberal press, since Vietnam.
With the new power of the internet, the average person does not have to take the word of obviously biased liberal reporters anymore. We can all check the real facts by ourselves, with a simple google or web search.
We no longer are controlled in what to think by George Soros or Ted Turner. This is a threat to their percieved power, so they vehemently deny the veracity of any independent research, and talk down about the internet blogging sites, chat rooms, and forums such as this one.
The louder they are in their blind support of Idiot Barry, the more it can be said that the internet is winning, therefore threatening them.
Even in the news photos, Barry is always pictured smiling and striking good poses, while Pres. Bush is pictured with his mouth open, to look dumb, C.Rice is always frowning,
Nancy Pelosi is smiling and looking younger, and McCain usually is caught between his smiles, making a face in reaction to a dumb question.

Most Americans are not stupid. Given enough time, Idiot Barry's support will almost completely disappear, and many people will have cut their subscriptions to The Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, The Los Angeles Times, and The New York Times. Most people will have also stopped watching MSNBC, CNN, and the other less-than-truthful TV companies.
